In a conventional drive device for a flat display panel, as shown in FIG. It was mounted on a printed circuit board 6 made of paper (phenolic resin). In particular, since the flat display panel 1 has an F-shaped electrode 13 whose scanning electrode and data electrode are connected by soldering to the silver electrode terminal 3 of the terminal section 2, a through hole is made in the printed circuit board through which the electrode passes, and In order to reduce mechanical stress on the F-type electrode mounting terminal, which is usually made of glass material, it was mounted with solder 14 at a distance of about 2 mm or more from the printed circuit board surface, and connected to each drive circuit using the printed circuit board.

However, in the conventional electrode connection structure of the flat display board described above, a through hole is made in the printed circuit board and the electrode is inserted into the hole and soldered. When the number of dots increases to 200 dots, the disadvantage is that the number of steps for inserting and soldering the electrodes into the through holes of the printed circuit board increases proportionally. In addition, since the electrodes are inserted and soldered by drilling through holes in the printed circuit board, the electrodes protrude from the back side of the printed circuit board, and it is necessary to solder at a distance of about 2 mm or more from the surface of the printed circuit board, which makes the device thinner. It had the disadvantage that it was difficult to formulate it.

The purpose of this invention is to eliminate these drawbacks, reduce the number of man-hours needed to connect the electrodes of the flat panel display board and the drive circuit, reduce the cost, and improve the structure for connecting the electrodes of the flat panel display board and the drive circuit, thereby making it possible to reduce the thickness. An object of the present invention is to provide a dot matrix type flat display device.

Next, the present invention will be explained with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 is a sectional view showing a flat display device showing an embodiment of the present invention. In the same figure, the electrode terminals 2 of the flat panel display panel 1 are soldered by Pb-Sn-Ag solder to the silver electrodes 3 which are connected to the scanning electrodes and data electrodes inside the flat display panel in one-to-one correspondence. These electrodes are fixed with an epoxy adhesive 5 having a coefficient of thermal expansion matching that of the glass material of the terminal portion 2. The horizontal electrode 4 is aligned with a thin copper pattern 7 having a thickness of 35 μm and connected to a drive circuit 8 on a printed circuit board 6, and then soldered.

Further, in the same figure, a scanning electrode/data electrode driving circuit 8 and a control circuit 9, which are formed into a hybrid IC or a monolithic IC, are mounted on a substrate and connected to a flat display panel 1 through electrodes 4. Further, on the printed circuit board 6, a driving voltage generating circuit 10 is mounted as a hybrid IC.

As explained above, by using the electrodes according to the present invention having a structure that can be mounted on a flat surface on a flat display board, the flat display board can be easily attached to a printed circuit board on which drive circuits, control circuits, and drive voltage generation circuits are mounted. It can be mounted at a low cost, the electrodes do not protrude from the back side of the printed circuit board, and the part that absorbs mechanical stress is provided in the horizontal direction rather than in the thickness direction, which allows the device to be made thinner.
