The basic structure of a plasma display panel is that electrodes are arranged in multiple rows both vertically and horizontally.
These vertical electrodes and horizontal electrodes are placed facing each other with a constant gap in the space between them, and a rare gas is filled in this space to selectively discharge and emit light at the intersection of the vertical and horizontal electrodes as a cell. It is something that makes you
A method of forming spacers using thick film printing is used as a means for forming the above-mentioned discharge gap of a certain size and for forming partition walls between adjacent discharge cells. Since this spacer also serves as a barrier between adjacent discharge cells, it must be formed of a non-transparent material in order to prevent light emission from leaking to adjacent cells. Furthermore, in this thick film printing method, since it is not possible to obtain a film thickness sufficient to ensure a sufficient discharge gap by one printing process, overlapping printing processes are performed two or more times.

However, in recent years, as demands for this type of flat display panel as a display device for portable and portable computers have increased, pixel capacity and density have increased, and the size of a single discharge cell has increased. It has become necessary to make it extremely small. For this reason, in the method of forming spacers that also serve as partition walls using the conventional thick film printing method as described above, each discharge due to material sagging (material flowing outside a predetermined position) during printing processing is difficult. The influence of the reduction in the light-emitting area of the cells cannot be ignored, and this sagging causes the light-emission illuminance of each cell to become dark, which causes deterioration in display quality.

The problem to be solved by the present invention, in other words, the purpose of the present invention is to eliminate the drawbacks of the conventional plasma display panel as described above, and to prevent the reduction in luminous intensity due to sagging during printing processing. The object of the present invention is to provide a plasma display panel with excellent display quality.

The plasma display panel of the present invention maintains a constant discharge gap between a translucent front electrode formed on the inner surface of a translucent front glass plate and a back electrode formed on the inner surface of a rear glass plate. In a plasma display panel, the partition walls between adjacent discharge cells are formed by a thick film printing method, the periphery is sealed with frit glass, and a rare gas is introduced and sealed into the discharge space. The partition wall has a multilayer structure of at least two layers, and the first layer on the front glass plate side is made of a light-transmitting material.

In the plasma display panel of the present invention, a spacer for maintaining a discharge gap and a partition wall for preventing light emission from leaking between adjacent discharge cells are formed using a thick film printing method. A transparent material is used as the printing material for the first printing, and a non-transparent material is superimposed and printed on top of the transparent material to form the required thickness, thereby creating a multilayer structure. shall be. Therefore, even if there is sag during printing, the first layer of barrier rib material on the display surface side where this sag occurs is translucent, so the light emitting area of the discharge cell will not be reduced and the display quality will be improved. You can get an excellent plasma display panel.

In the figure, a front electrode 3 having a light-transmitting property is formed on the inner surface of a front glass plate 1 having a light-transmitting property and covered with a dielectric layer 2, and a front electrode 3 having a light-transmitting property is formed on the inner surface of a back glass plate 4 and is covered with a dielectric layer 5. The covered back electrode 6 maintains a constant discharge gap A, and partition walls 7, 8, 9 prevent light emission from leaking between adjacent discharge cells.
The peripheries are sealed by a frit glass 10, and a rare gas is introduced and sealed in the discharge space. Here, the partition walls 7 and 8 are formed in stripes on the front electrode 3 side in parallel with the back electrode 6 by a thick film printing method, and have a multilayer structure of at least two layers as shown in the figure. The partition wall 7 on the front electrode 3 side is made of a transparent material. This causes the print to sag onto the partition wall 7 that was printed first.

As explained above, when forming the partition wall according to the present invention by the thick film printing method, it has a multilayer structure and the first layer on the display surface side is made of a transparent material. This has the effect of preventing a reduction in the display light emitting area of the discharge cell, thereby preventing deterioration in display quality such as darkening of the display.
