An air conditioning evaporator is constructed by arranging a large number of plate fins 1 in parallel with slight distances from each other as shown in FIG. The core 3 is configured by forming a refrigerant flow path. A drain pan 9 is disposed opposite to the lower surface of the core 3, and a fan 4 is positioned adjacent to the lower end of the core 3. This fan 4 is generally a Sirotskov fan. Thus, low-temperature refrigerant is allowed to flow through the tube 2, and the fan 4 is driven. Return air is sucked in from the front side of the core 3, circulated through the outer surfaces of the plate fins 1 and tubes 2 of the core 3, and cold air is blown out from the lower part of the evaporator body. At this time, condensed water 6 condenses on the outer surfaces of the plate fins 1 and tubes 2, gradually grows, and stays between the lower ends of each fin 1. Then, a part of it moves to the back side of the core due to the air flow 7. FIG. 8 shows this state. That is, the condensed water 6 is
B and C move in the downstream direction of the air flow 7 in this order, are separated into small pieces at the ends of the plate fins 1, and fall into the drain pan 9. However, some of the small condensed water 6 was mixed into the air flow 7 due to the motive force of the fan 4, and a portion of it sometimes flew out into the room.

Therefore, the present invention adopts the following configuration in order to prevent the condensed water 6 from being separated into small pieces at the lower end surface and to prevent the condensed water from jumping out into the room as shown in FIG. 8A.

A fan 4 is disposed adjacent to the lower end of the back side of the core 3. The feature of the present invention is that the lower end portions of the plate fins 1 on the back side are bent in the same direction so that the gap between the plate fins 1, 1 becomes smaller.

That is, a large number of plate fins 1 are arranged in parallel with slight distances from each other in the thickness direction, and the tube 2 is passed through each plate fin 1. Then, the ends of the tubes 2 are connected to each other by a U-shaped tube, thereby forming a meandering refrigerant flow path. The lower end of the back side of the core 3 thus formed is bent by applying an external force so as to be crushed, thereby forming a bent portion 8 there. The portion where this bent portion 8 is formed is in contact with the plate fins 1, 1 so that there is no small gap between them, as shown in FIG. 3, or with a slight gap formed between them, as shown in FIG. The small gap is made to be much smaller than the part other than the bent part 8. A low-temperature refrigerant is caused to flow through the tube 2 formed in this way, and the fan 4 is driven. Then, condensed water 6 adheres to the outer surfaces of the plate fins 1 and tubes 2,
It gradually grows, flows downward and stagnates. Then, as shown in FIG. 5, a part of the condensed water 6 is moved in order from A to B to C by the air flow 7. Then, from the state shown in (c), it is dripped into the drain pan 9. In the state shown in Fig. 5C, just before the condensed water 6 separates from the plate fins 1, the condensed water 6 is held between the plate fins 1 so as to straddle each plate fin 1, and the condensed water 6 grows into a large condensed water 6. . Then, it drips into the drain pan 9 due to its own weight. Note that some of the condensed water 6 moves to the back side of the core 3 and falls;
Other condensed water 6 falls directly from the lower end of the core 3 into the drain pan 9. In any case, the condensed water 6 will not mix into the air flow 7 and will not flow out into the room. Note that when the bent portions 8 of the plate fins 1 are in contact with each other as shown in FIG. to fall.

It can be prevented from mixing with the stream 7 and flowing out into the room. That is, the bent portion 8 of the plate fin 1 causes the condensed water 6 to grow large on the back side of the core.
It can be smoothly guided to the drain pan 9 by its own weight.
