By reflection from the reflecting mirror 26, the light beam scans the surface of the original to be read 28, which is sequentially driven in the direction of the arrow, over a predetermined range on a circular arc at a constant speed as shown by reference numeral 30. Read the image.

The semiconductor laser 2 is excited by an excitation current on which a modulation signal accompanying image data transmitted via a telephone line is superimposed. The laser light emitted from the semiconductor laser by this excitation is intensity modulated in accordance with the transmitted image data. This intensity-modulated laser light travels through the same path as in the case of reading the original image of the original to be read until it reaches the reflecting mirror 26, and the reflecting mirror 26 is at a position rotated by 90 degrees as shown by the broken line. , the light beam is reflected downward by the reflecting mirror 26, and the light beam passes over the photosensitive surface of the roll-shaped photosensitive paper 38, which is rotated and sequentially drawn out, for example, on the broken line arc 30A corresponding to the reference numeral 30. is scanned over a predetermined range at a constant speed, and the photosensitive surface of the photosensitive paper 38 is exposed.

In the case of facsimile transmission between 100 and 100, even if the laser beam is scanned in the above-mentioned arc shape when reading the image of the original to be read 28 and recording the received image, the original scanned in the arc shape is Since the images are recorded using the same arc-shaped scan, the arc-shaped distortion is canceled out and the arc-shaped distortion does not become a problem. In FIG. 7, reference numeral 102 indicates a document reading/printing section equipped with the light beam scanning system shown in FIG. 1, and 104 indicates the document reading section 1.
The image data read by the semiconductor laser 2 is processed and transmitted, and the received image data is processed and sent to the semiconductor laser 2.

The PU 94 sequentially stores the read image data in the RAM 98, stores the stored image data in the ROM 96, converts it to a linear scanning image data arrangement by referring to a data conversion table, stores it in the RAM 98, and stores the stored image data in the RAM 98. The image data converted to the arrangement is read out and sent to the transmitting/receiving unit 1.

The stored image data was stored in the ROM 96, and converted to an image data arrangement of arcuate scanning with reference to a data conversion table, contrary to the case of transmission, and stored in the RAM 98, where it was converted to an arrangement of 5 arcuate scanning. The image data is read out, converted into a signal corresponding to the read image data, outputted to the original reading/printing section 102 as a modulation signal to be superimposed on the excitation current of the semiconductor laser 2, and received by the original reading/printing section 102. If this is done by rotating the fixed mirror 14 by a small angle in synchronization with the reciprocating rotational movement of the rotating mirror 12, and correcting the arcuate scanning into linear scanning, the control of the small rotation angle of the fixed fi 14 will be Since it is not proportional to the rotation angle of the rotary mirror 12, it is extremely difficult to accurately correct the arc-shaped distortion to achieve linear scanning, and the second embodiment eliminates the need for such a configuration.

The data reading device 124 includes a data layout converting unit 128 that converts the data read by the data reading device 12 into a data layout based on linear scanning.

。In addition, in the above-mentioned embodiment, the rotating fi12 has a trapezoidal cross section with a cutout in the portion not hit by the laser beam in order to reduce the driving force, but if the driving force of the drive system is sufficient, the cross-sectional shape is rectangular. There is no problem in forming it. In addition, a laminated piezoelectric actuator 18.2 that applies a couple force to the rotation shaft 16
0 can be driven even with a single laminated piezoelectric actuator if a suitable bearing is used. Furthermore, for example, a configuration may be adopted in which the driving force required for the laminated piezoelectric actuator is reduced by combining it with an angle enlarging mechanism using a lever mechanism. In addition, instead of a laminated piezoelectric actuator, the actuator can use a piezoelectric element with electrodes attached to make torsional motion, a giant magnetostrictive alloy such as chilphenol-D, or a force such as hydraulic pressure, air pressure, thermal deformation, etc. is possible.

There is no need to change scanning from arc scanning to linear scanning, and there is no need for a complicated configuration in the scanning mirror unit to change arc scanning to linear scanning.
