Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a metal faucet having a metallic surface which gives a feel of transparency with depth by a method wherein a dull plating layer is formed on the surface of a molded metal base and this layer is subjected to chromate treatment and then to powder coating in a specific film thickness using a clear coating material. CONSTITUTION:After pretreatment by washing with alkali and acid, a metal faucet consisting of a brass or bronze alloy cast is plated with nickel in a nickel plating bath with emulsion dispersed therein and further plated thereon with a chromium using a chromium bath. After electrolytic chromate treatment, the faucet is subjected to powder coating with a clear coating material and this coat is baked by heating and drying. This method makes larger adhesion between the plating layer and the resin layer and offers an excellent anti-corrosive and wear resisting feature.
