Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a resin-impregnated wood sufficiently holding impact resistance and hardness by a method wherein a wood is impregnated with a compsn. for impregnation of wood contg. a compd. of a specified formula and a curing agent as essential ingredients and the impregnated wood is cured. CONSTITUTION:A resin-impregnated wood is prepd. by impregnating a wood with a compsn. for impregnation of wood contg. a compd. or formula (I) and a curing agent as essential ingredients and curing the impregnated wood. In the formula (I), R is a hydrogen or a methyl group; R' is a 2-6C alkylene group or a 4-6C oxalalkylene group wherein two or more segments of at least 2C alkylene chains are bonded together through an oxygen atom; R'' is formula (II); n is 0 or 1. As the curing agent, a polymn. initiator such as an org. peroxide is used and if necessary, an accelerator is used. In this case, it is especially pref. that benzoyl peroxide is used as a curing agent and N,N-dimethyl-p- toluidine is used as the accelerator.

(Conventional technology) Traditionally, cypress, pine, oak, etc. are made up of 9% wood, but because they have poor impact resistance and hardness, when they are painted and used as flooring materials for construction, they are not coated with wood during construction work. Accidents have occurred where the paint film lifts off the wood and turns white due to falling tools or materials. As a countermeasure against this accident, there are a method of increasing the thickness of the top coat and a method of using laminated wood. In the former case, it depends on the age.
