2. Description of the Related Art As a sheet feeding device for recording sheets such as transfer sheets for image forming apparatuses such as copiers, facsimiles, printers, etc., a front end face of a bundle of recording sheets is abutted against a rear face of a front wall of a sheet feeding cassette on a movable bottom plate. Then, the bottom plate is pushed up by the pressure arm to bring the surface of the recording paper bundle into pressure contact with the paper feed roller, and the paper feed roller is rotated by a predetermined amount in response to the paper feed signal, so that the recording paper is delivered from above. In this case, the corner claws that press both corners of the front edge of the recording paper bundle from above buckle the top one or several sheets of the recording paper bundle, thereby separating the recording paper and feeding only the topmost one. The corner claw separation method, in which the paper is fed over the corner claws by the frictional force with the roller, has a simple structure and is widely used because it saves space and is inexpensive.

However, in the corner claw separation method, since the recording paper to be fed over the corner claws, the corners must be bent with a small radius of curvature.
Sheets with strong electrostatic attraction between sheets such as P sheets cannot be separated. Further, at the time of separation, the corners of the recording paper are broken or a repellant sound is emitted. Although this method is simple, it does not necessarily have good separation performance and often involves double feeding.
Further, there is a problem that the last one sheet cannot be fed.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION In order to solve the above problems, the present invention mounts a bundle of recording paper on its movable bottom plate by abutting its front end face against the rear face of the front wall of a paper feed cassette and raising the bottom plate. Then, the upper surface of the bundle of recording papers is brought into pressure contact with the paper feed roller, and the paper feed roller is rotated to cause the recording paper separating means to move the uppermost 1
In a sheet feeding device of an image forming apparatus that separates and feeds only sheets, the sheet feeding cassette has a parallelogram cross-sectional shape in which a front wall of the sheet feeding cassette is inclined so that an upper part thereof recedes upstream in a sheet feeding direction. The bottom plate has a front end distant from the front wall of the paper feed cassette toward the upstream side in the paper feed direction, and the recording paper separating means is a plate-shaped member provided at the center of the width of the front end of the paper feed cassette. When the bottom plate is raised, the front end of the uppermost paper of the recording paper stack, which is displaced rearward as it goes up, is flipped out at the rear edge of the separating means, and the front ends of the second and subsequent sheets of paper are provided at such positions as to be hooked. The paper feed roller is provided so as to face the rear edge of the recording paper separating means across the recording paper feed passage.

Since the sheet feeding device of the present invention is constructed as described above, when the front end surface of the recording sheet bundle is abutted against the rear surface of the front wall of the sheet feeding cassette and is placed on the movable bottom plate, the recording sheet bundle is recorded. The sheets are stacked so as to be shifted rearward as they go up, and the front end of the movable bottom plate is located rearward of the front wall of the cassette. Therefore, when the bottom plate is raised, the part that protrudes from the bottom plate of the front part of the recording paper. Is drooping due to the weight of the recording paper itself, the front portion of the recording paper is convexly curved upward, and the front end of each recording paper is displaced further rearward from the front end of the recording paper below it. The position of the trailing edge of the separating means is such that the front end of the uppermost paper of the recording paper bundle shifted as described above is repelled and the front and rear of the second and subsequent recording papers are hooked. If the bottom plate is stopped at the position where the upper paper is ejected, or if the bottom plate is ejected and then the bottom plate is slightly lowered, only the topmost paper is inserted between the paper feed roller and the separating means, and separated by the paper feed roller in contact with the upper surface. Paper is fed over the means.
