Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 [産業上の利用分野] 本発明は、熱可塑性樹脂の溶着方法に関する。
さらに詳しくは、誘電損失の値の小さな同種又は
異種の熱可塑性樹脂を高周波誘電加熱又は高周波
誘電加熱により溶着する方法に関する。
[従来の技術] 従来からある同種又は異種の熱可塑性樹脂を溶
着する方法としては、ヒートシール法、インパル
スシール法、高周波融着法、超音波融着法等が知
られている。ヒートシール法は、同種あるいは相
溶性のある異種のほとんどの熱可塑性樹脂を溶着
できる。しかし、肉厚の熱可塑性樹脂の溶着が困
難であり、かつ溶着部が奇麗に仕上がらなかつ
た。さらに加熱溶融後、長い冷却時間を必要とす
るので量産性を高めるのが困難であつた。また、
インパルスシール法も、ヒートシール法と同様
に、ほとんどの熱可塑性樹脂を溶着できるが肉厚
の熱可塑性樹脂の溶着が困難であり、また複雑な
形状のヒーターを作製するのが困難であるため複
雑な形状の溶着ができなかつた。高周波融着法
は、肉厚の熱可塑性樹脂も溶着でき冷却時間も短
くてすみ、複雑な形状の溶着も可能である。しか
し、ポリ塩化ビニル樹脂のような誘電損失の値が
大きな樹脂しか溶着できないという欠点があつ
た。超音波融着法は、硬質の熱可塑性樹脂の溶着
は可能であるが、軟質の熱可塑性樹脂の溶着は困
難でありさらに形状が限定されるという欠点があ
つた。
[発明が解決しようとする問題点] 以上のように従来の溶着方法には、ほとんどの
熱可塑性樹脂を肉厚にあまり影響されることなく
複雑な形状においても溶着が可能であり、かつ冷
却時間が短いという全ての条件を満足できるもの
はなかつた。
[問題点を解決するための手段] 本発明は、通常、高周波融着できない誘電損失
の値の小さな同種又は異種の熱可塑性樹脂の溶着
面間に、誘電損失の値が大きな発熱材料又は強磁
性体の発熱材料を位置させ、該熱可塑性樹脂を溶
融することを特徴とする溶着方法を提供すること
によつて従来の問題点を解決した。
[作用] 本発明者らは、高周波融着できない熱可塑性樹
脂を、複雑な形状あるいは肉厚のものでも容易に
溶着でき、短い冷却時間ですみ量産性に富み、し
かも仕上がり状態が奇麗な溶着方法を開発すべく
種々検討した結果、熱可塑性樹脂の溶着面の少な
くとも一部に誘電損失の値が大きな発熱材料を設
置し、外部より高周波誘電加熱により該発熱材料
を誘電加熱し発熱させ、該発熱材料の周辺の熱可
塑性樹脂を溶融させ溶着することにより、また、
熱可塑性樹脂の溶着面の少なくとも一部に、強磁
性体の発熱材料を設置し、外部より高周波誘導加
熱により、該発熱材料を誘導加熱し発熱させ、該
発熱材料の周辺の熱可塑性樹脂を溶融させ溶着す
ることにより、複雑な形状あるいは肉厚のもので
も容易に溶着でき、短い冷却時間ですみ量産性に
富み、しかも仕上がり状態が奇麗であることを見
い出し本発明を完成するに至つた。
誘電損失の大きな値の発熱材料に高周波電流を
通じると、発熱材料分子の衝突、摩擦により発熱
し、その発熱量Pは次式で示される。
P=K・ε・tanδ・f(V/d)2 ……(1) ここで、K:比定数、ε:誘電率、tanδ:誘電
損失、f:周波数、V:電極間電圧、d:電極間
距離である。この式から明らかなように、誘電損
失の値が大きいほど発熱量は多く、被溶着材料で
ある熱可塑性樹脂を充分に溶融させ溶着すること
ができる。
また、強磁性体の発熱材料を高周波磁界中に入
れると、ヒステリシス損と過電流のジユール効果
により効率的に発熱する。ヒステリシス損による
発熱量P1は次式で示される。
ここで、I:コイル電流、d:コイルとの距
離、μ:有効透磁率、r:固有抵抗、f:周波数
である。
また、過電流のジユール効果による発熱量P2
は次式で示される。
P2=K・N2・I2√・・ ……(3) ここで、K:比定数、N:コイルの巻数、ρ:
電気比抵抗である。式(2)及び式(3)から明らかなよ
うに、ヒステリシス損による発熱量P1に比して
過電流のジユール効果による発熱量P2のほうが
遥かに大きな値である。それゆえ、有効透磁率μ
の値が大きいすなわち強磁性体ほど発熱量は多
く、被溶着材料である熱可塑性樹脂を充分に溶融
させ溶着することができる。
高周波融着できない熱可塑性樹脂とは、誘電損
失の値が小さいものであり、ポリエチレン、ポリ
プロピレン等のオレフイン系樹脂、熱可塑性ポリ
ウレタン等が挙げられる。これら高周波融着でき
ない熱可塑性樹脂の溶着したい面と面の間の一部
分に設置する発熱材料としては、誘電損失の値が
大きなポリ塩化ビニル樹脂、ポリアミド樹脂、ポ
リエステル樹脂、エチレン−酢酸ビニル共重合体
等があり、また、強磁性体である鉄、フエライ
ト、ステンレス、アルミニウム等の導体が挙げら
れる。より好ましくは、ポリ塩化ビニル樹脂、ポ
リアミド樹脂、エチレン−酢酸ビニル共重合体、
鉄、フエライト、ステンレスである。
発熱材料は、誘電損失の値が大きく溶着したい
熱可塑性樹脂の融点より高い融点を有する樹脂が
好ましい。すなわち、高周波誘電加熱により、被
溶着材料である熱可塑性樹脂よりも発熱材料が先
に溶融してしまうと熱可塑性樹脂の溶着面間で変
形及び流出してしまい、溶着面での単位面積当た
りの熱容量が小さくなり熱可塑性樹脂を溶融しに
くくなつてしまい溶着が不完全になる。発熱材料
が被溶着材料である熱可塑性樹脂の融点よりも高
いと、発熱材料が溶融及び変形する前に熱可塑性
樹脂を充分に溶融することができるので、溶着を
完全に行うことができる。
本発明の溶着方法は、溶着面側が溶融して溶着
されるので、内部発熱を利用したポリ塩化ビニル
樹脂を高周波融着で溶着するのと同時に、溶着が
完全であり奇麗にしあがる。
[実施例] 以下図面に基ずいて、本発明の方法をさらに詳
しく説明する。第1図に柔軟なプラスチツク容器
1を示す。プラスチツク容器1は、口元部2と容
器部3から構成される。口元部2は、高密度ポリ
エチレンで射出成形法により形成される。容器部
3は、直鎖状低密度ポリエチレンでインフレーシ
ヨン成形法によつて得られるチユーブ状シートの
両端開放端を溶着することによつて得たものであ
る。また、押出し成形によつて得られたシート二
枚を重ね合わせ、その周縁部を溶着することによ
つても得ることができる。容器部3の下端部5は
通常のヒートシールで溶着され懸垂口6が設けら
れている。口元部2は、容器部3の上端部4で本
発明の方法によつて溶着されている。口元部2と
上端部4の溶着方法の詳細を第2図に示す。口元
部2の外周面に発熱材料7として、ナイロンメツ
シユを設置する。ナイロンメツシユを設置した口
元部2を上端部4に挿入し、外側から高周波金型
8で押え込み、高周波を発振させる。使用する高
周波は、一般的に40.6MHzが多い。この状態で高
周波を発振させるとナイロンメツシユが発熱し、
ナイロンメツシユの周辺の上端部4の直鎖状低密
度ポリエチレン及び口元部2の高密度ポリエチレ
ンが溶融し、ナイロンメツシユの周辺及びナイロ
ンメツシユの網目の開口部において互いに接触し
溶着される。溶着された口元部2の断面図を第3
図にしめす。高密度ポリエチレン製の口元部2と
直鎖状低密度ポリエチレン製の上端部4のナイロ
ンメツシユの周辺及びナイロンメツシユの網目の
開口部において、それぞれ液密に溶着されてい
る。第3図に示した実施例では、口元部2と上端
部4の溶着部以外の上端部4の溶着は、通常のヒ
ートシールで行つているが、この上端部4におい
てもナイロンメツシユを狭持し本発明の溶着方法
を用いて溶着してもよい。
発熱材料の構造として、実施例では第4図に示
す網目構造体を挙げたが、第5図に示す帯状のも
のでも良いし、第6図に示す線状のものを数本組
み合わせたものでも良い。いずれにしても、溶着
したい熱可塑性樹脂の溶着面の面積よりも小さい
面積の発熱材料を用いることが必要である。
次に、高周波誘導加熱を用いた溶着法について
述べる。第7図に示したように、発熱材料7とし
て鉄製のメツシユを用い、口元部2の外周面にそ
の鉄製のメツシユを設置する。鉄製のメツシユを
設置した口元部2を上端部4に挿入し、外側から
圧縮用治具9で僅かに加圧しながら高周波磁界中
に入れると、鉄製のメツシユが発熱し、その周辺
の上端部4の直鎖状低密度ポリエチレン及び口元
部2の高密度ポリエチレンが溶融し鉄製のメツシ
ユの周辺及び鉄製のメツシユの網目の開口部にお
いて互いに接触し溶着される。高周波磁界は、誘
導コイル10に高周波電流を流すことによつて得
られる。使用される高周波は400kHz〜4MHzのも
のが一般的である。
以上のようにして作製したプラスチツク容器に
水を注入し、口元部2の開口部に高密度ポリエチ
レン製フイルム(0.2mm厚)を熱溶着し容器を密
封後ゴム栓を装着した。この容器を115℃で40分
間高圧蒸気滅菌しが、変形、破裂、水漏れはなか
つた。
[発明の効果] 以上述べた本発明の溶着方法は、以下に示す利
点を有する。
誘電損失の値が小さい高周波融着出来ない熱可
塑性樹脂を、高周波誘電加熱あるいは高周波誘導
加熱を用いて溶着できるので、複雑な形状の溶
着、肉厚樹脂の溶着が容易になり、冷却時間が短
くて済むので量産性に優れている。

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 1 誘電損失の値の小さな同種又は異種の熱可塑
    性樹脂を高周波を用いて溶着する方法であつて、
    熱可塑性樹脂の溶着面間に、誘電損失の値が大き
    な発熱材料または強磁性体の発熱材料を位置さ
    せ、高周波誘電加熱又は高周波誘導加熱により該
    発熱材料を発熱させて該熱可塑性樹脂を溶着面間
    で溶融することを特徴とする溶着方法。 2 該発熱材料が、該熱可塑性樹脂よりも実質的
    に高い溶融開始温度を有することを特徴とする特
    許請求の範囲第1項記載の溶着方法。 3 該発熱材料が網目構造を有することを特徴と
    する特許請求の範囲第1項または第2項記載の溶
    着方法。 4 該発熱材料が帯状又は線状であることを特徴
    とする特許請求の範囲第1項または第2項記載の
    溶着方法。 5 該発熱材料がポリ塩化ビニル樹脂、ポリアミ
    ド樹脂、エチレン−酢酸ビニル共重合体、ポリエ
    ステル樹脂、鉄、フエライト、ステンレス、アル
    ミニウムの内より選ばれた少なくとも1種である
    特許請求の範囲第1項ないし第4項のいずれかに
    記載の溶着方法。
