As a method of manufacturing the color filter 3, there are a dyeing method, a pigment dispersion method, a printing method, an electrodeposition method and the like. The dyeing method is, for example, a method of dyeing a relief obtained by patterning a gelatin film by a photolithography method. The pigment dispersion method is a method of patterning a polymer dispersed with a pigment by a photolithography method. Further, the printing method is a method of directly forming a pattern by printing using a polymer dispersed with a pigment. The electrodeposition method is a method of patterning a transparent conductive film and applying a coloring layer by an electrophoretic method or an electrolytic polymerization method.

As a method of manufacturing a color filter, as shown in FIGS. 9 and 10, an offset printing method using an intaglio plate or a waterless planographic plate is drawing attention. In the offset printing method, as shown in FIG. 9, first, the coloring ink 17 is transferred to the blanket 18 by rotating the blanket 18 in the concave portion of the plate 16. Next, as shown in FIG. 10, the colored ink 17 transferred to the blanket 18 is applied to the glass substrate 9
It is a method to transfer on. This offset printing method
The edge of the pattern of the colored ink 17 on the 16 is excellent, the thickness of the colored ink 17 can be easily adjusted by the depth of the recess of the plate 16, and the plate 16 is made of metal in terms of printing accuracy. Since it can be used, it is in a position that is the most practical of all printing methods.
