5 is an engagement notch formed downward in the free end of each step 3, and 6 is a shaft with one end located in the storage groove 2 of the other main pillar 1 corresponding to each step 3. These are pivoted metal auxiliary bars with a U-shaped cross section, and each auxiliary bar 6 has half the length of the treadle 3, and the length of the treadle 3.
The other end of the auxiliary bar 6 is rotatably attached to the center of the lower surface of the step bar 3 via a hinge 7. Reference numeral 8 denotes an engagement shaft to which each auxiliary bar 6 is pivotally connected, and the engagement notch 5 of the step bar 3 can be freely engaged with the engagement shaft 8. Reference numeral 9 denotes an auxiliary beam provided on the upper end of the main pillar 1 with a hinge or the like so that it can be fitted freely, and 10 denotes a pair of braces pivotally attached to the lowermost step beam 3 so as to be freely retractable. is constantly urged outward by a spring member 11.

The engagement between the engagement notch 5 of the treadle 3 and the engagement shaft 8 is released, and as shown in FIG. and rotate upward in conjunction with each other. When the main post 1 is further pressed, the treadle 3 rotates further and is completely fitted into the storage groove 2 of the pivoted main post 1 and is stored.
The auxiliary crosspiece 6 is also fitted into and stored in the storage groove 2 of the pivoted main pillar 1, and similarly, the brace 10 pivotally connected to the lowest step 3 is also pushed inward against the spring material 11. It is folded up and completely stored in the storage groove 2 of the main pillar 1 together with the step 3 (see FIGS. 8 and 9).

It is best to pull it outward. Then, the treadle 3 and the auxiliary tread 6 rotate downward about the pivot shafts 4 and 8, respectively, and the engagement notch 5 of the treadle 3 engages with the engagement shaft 8. At this time, the brace 10 attached to the lowest step 3 is urged outward by the spring material 11, and its lower end abuts the inner surface of the storage groove 2 of the main post 1, and
Its lower surface is flush with the lower surface of the main pillar 1. Finally, the reinforcing bar 9 is fitted onto the upper end of the main pillar 1 to complete the assembly (see FIGS. 5 and 6).
