As shown in FIG. 5, the code reader emits and receives light from a head 1 at its tip to read and scan a code 2, which is a light and dark pattern, as the article moves. This emitted and received light is transmitted through the light emitting lens 3 in the head.
This is done through the light receiving lens 4.

In this case, in order to increase the sensitivity and accuracy of light emission and reception, it is necessary to adjust the lenses 3 and 4 and optical fibers so that they have the optimum light emission range (solid line) and light reception range (dashed line) as shown in FIG. Light emitting/receiving means 5, 5 such as
It is necessary to adjust the distances 1 and 2 .

As shown in FIG. 6, this adjustment is performed by utilizing the fact that the degree of diffusion and convergence of light changes as the distance changes.

Problems to be Solved by the Invention Even if one tries to position and install the light emitting and receiving means 5, 5 such as the optical fiber, it is not possible to see how far the light emitting and receiving means 5, 5 are inserted into the inside of the head 1. This made adjustments extremely difficult. The positioning of an optical fiber that emits visible light can be done by actually irradiating it with light, but with non-visible light such as infrared light, it is difficult to determine the position of an optical fiber that emits visible light.
This method cannot be used because the light itself cannot be seen. Furthermore, since the optical fiber for receiving light does not itself emit light, the above method cannot be used regardless of visible light or non-visible light. Therefore, it can be said that this adjustment is almost impossible at the installation work site. For this reason, even though a fixing method using screws 6, 6 that allows for replacement as shown in Figure 5 is adopted, in practice it is not possible to replace only the optical fiber at the construction site. was.

Means for Solving the Problems In order to solve the above problems, the code reader head of the present invention has a lens fixed to one end of the housing, which is mounted opposite the reading position, and an optical fiber inserted from the other end. A housing is provided with a mounting hole into which a light emitting/receiving means such as the above is inserted, and a fixing means for fixing the light emitting/receiving means by adjusting the distance to the lens. It is characterized by providing a window through which the light receiving means can be viewed and a mark for positioning the light emitting and receiving means.

Operation If the above-mentioned marks are followed, the positioning of the light emitting/receiving means such as an optical fiber can be easily performed with a certain degree of accuracy. Therefore, the light emitting/receiving means can be quickly attached and replaced to the code reader head even at a construction site.

In the figure, 11 is a housing made of a rectangular metal plate with holes drilled, 12 and 12 are mounting holes for light emitting and receiving means such as optical fibers, and 13 and 13 are mounting holes 1.
Lenses for projecting and receiving light fixed to one end of 2, 12; 14, 14 is a window (viewing window) through which the light projecting and receiving means inserted into the mounting hole can be viewed from the side; 15;
Reference numeral 15 denotes a positioning mark formed on the edge of the viewing windows 14, 14, and is formed, for example, by painting a white line to correspond to the black painting of the housing 11.
Reference numerals 16 and 16 are set screws, and the optical fiber inserted into the mounting hole is tightened and fixed from the side. 1
Reference numerals 7 and 17 are holes through which screws for fixing the housing 11 in a predetermined position are inserted.

In this embodiment, the rear ends of the tip caps 18a, 18a of the optical fibers 18, 18 are positioned so as to match the marks 15, 15, and the installation work of the optical fibers is completed by tightening the set screws 16, 16 in this state. do. This makes it possible to reliably obtain the light emitting range A shown by the solid line and the light receiving range B shown by the dotted line as specified.

The second embodiment shown in FIG. 3 differs from the first embodiment shown in FIG. 1 in that a plurality of marks are formed on the viewing windows 14 instead of one. A number indicating the distance from the tip of the housing 11 to the detection position is attached to each mark 15a, 15a, .

In the third embodiment shown in FIG. 4, a window through which the light emitting/receiving means fitted therein can be viewed is formed by making a part of the housing transparent. That is, the front side of the housing 11 is made of an opaque material, and at least a portion of one side of the rear side is made of a transparent material. The marks 15a, 15a, . . . are attached according to the first or second embodiment. Here, forming the front side with an opaque material is essential in order to prevent malfunctions due to the passage of light within the housing.

In the above embodiment, the housing has two mounting holes 12, 12, and an optical fiber is used as the light emitting/receiving means. As the light emitting/receiving means, a light emitting element such as an LED or a light receiving element such as a photodiode may be used. When directly attaching a light emitting element or a light receiving element, an electric wire is drawn out instead of an optical fiber.
