When communicating between computers using a two-way CATV network, in conventional communication methods, a host computer is installed on the center equipment side to prevent communication data from each computer from colliding with each other in the transmission system. In the same host computer, multiple computers on the terminal side were controlled by dividing them in time using polling signals.

For this reason, in the conventional communication system, although there is no collision between communication data, the computer on the terminal side cannot send data at an arbitrary time, resulting in a waiting time. Moreover, in order to shorten the above waiting time or to communicate with more terminal computers, the polling signal must be made high-speed, which requires a wide transmission band of the CATV network and reduces the line speed. A problem arises in which channel utilization efficiency decreases. Further, in the conventional communication system, since communication between terminal side computers is carried out via a host computer on the center equipment side, processing time is required for this purpose, resulting in a disadvantage that the communication time becomes long.

In the present invention, each computer on the terminal side is provided with a first modulation circuit and a second demodulation circuit that modulates communication data generated by the computer into a first upstream high frequency signal to be transmitted to the center equipment side. , a frequency converter with a frequency conversion circuit is installed on the center equipment side. The frequency conversion circuit converts a first high frequency signal from a terminal side computer into a second downlink high frequency signal transmitted to the terminal side. A second demodulation circuit in each computer on the terminal side demodulates the second high frequency signal from the center equipment side and obtains received data.
Each computer takes in the received data if it is for its own computer (own station). However, if the first high frequency signals are simultaneously sent from a plurality of computers on the terminal side and collide in the transmission system, the data will be destroyed and correct transmission and reception will not be performed.

Therefore, in the present invention, the frequency converter includes a first demodulation circuit that demodulates the first high frequency signal from the computer on the terminal side, and the first high frequency signals are simultaneously sent from the plurality of computers on the terminal side. It is determined whether or not there has been a collision in the transmission system based on the demodulated data by the first demodulation circuit, and according to the determination result, the output of the second high frequency signal by the frequency conversion circuit is stopped, and the terminal side a control computer that generates collision notification data that notifies a computer of a collision; and a second modulation circuit that modulates the collision notification data from the control computer into a second downlink high-frequency signal that is transmitted to the terminal side. There is also more. Therefore, when a collision occurs, the second high-frequency signal sent from the center equipment (its frequency converter) to the computer on the terminal side is not a frequency-converted signal of the first high-frequency signal, but a modulated signal of collision notification data. becomes. In this case, the computer on the side of the terminal that transmitted the first high-frequency signal detects that the received data obtained by demodulating the second high-frequency signal is data notifying the collision, and thereby becomes aware of the occurrence of the collision. Perform data retransmission.

A control signal for prohibiting the output from the terminal side C is output to the conversion circuit 410 via the line 416.
Data (collision notification data) notifying the (computer) of the occurrence of a collision is output to the modulation circuit 411 via the line 413. The frequency conversion circuit 410 stops outputting the second high frequency signal F H in response to a control signal from the control computer 415 . On the other hand, the modulation circuit 411 modulates the collision notification data from the control computer 415 into a second high frequency signal F H and outputs it to the line 48 . The second high frequency signal F H on the line 48 is sent out to the line 40 via the splitter 45 and combiner 41, via the combiner 5, and then transmitted to the terminal side C through the transmission system B. That is, the control computer 415 in the frequency converter 4
Accordingly, when the occurrence of a collision of the signal F L is detected, the frequency conversion circuit 410 (corresponding to the signal F L )
Instead of the second high frequency signal F H from the modulation circuit 411 (corresponding to the collision notification data), the second high frequency signal F H from the modulation circuit 411 is transmitted to the terminal side C.

From frequency converter 4 of center equipment A to transmission system B
The second high-frequency signal sent to terminal side C via
F H is sent to computers 12a, 12b...12n via drop-in lines 10a, 10b...10n,
The same computers 12a, 12b, . . . , 12n receive the information. As in this example, when the second high-frequency signal F H indicates the occurrence of a collision, among the computers 12a, 12b...12n that have received the signal F H , the computer that is transmitting (the first high-frequency signal F L ) The computers immediately stop transmitting, and after a delay time defined (or determined) by each computer, the second
If the high frequency signal F H is not received, the once transmitted data is retransmitted. The signal flow at this time is shown in the timing chart in Figure 3.
Shown in part T2 . That is, in this example, the terminal side C
A case is shown in which the computers 12a and 12n simultaneously transmit the first high-frequency signal F L , and a collision is detected in the frequency converter 4 of the center facility A at time t1 . When the frequency converter 4 detects a collision, the frequency converter 4 transmits a second signal corresponding to the collision notification data.
The high frequency signal F H is sent to the terminal side C as shown by diagonal lines in FIG. The computers 12a, 12b, . . . , 12n on the terminal side C receive the second high frequency signal F H notifying the collision. computer 1
2a retransmits (since signal F H has not been received) after a delay time of eg td 1 . On the other hand, the computer 12n attempts to retransmit after the delay time tdo , for example, but the second Since the high frequency signal F H is being received, it waits until the high frequency signal F H disappears. Then, when the signal F H disappears, the computer 12a performs retransmission.

Here, the computers 12a, 12b...12n
The receiving process will be explained in detail using the computer 12a as an example. That is, the second high frequency signal F H sent to the computer 12a via the lead-in line 10a is
Duplexer 121 in the same computer 12a, line 1
The signal is further guided to a demodulation circuit 125 via 23. The demodulation circuit 125 has a function of detecting the presence or absence of the second high frequency signal F H and a function of demodulating the second high frequency signal F H. Therefore, when the second high frequency signal F H is present on the line 125 as in this example, the demodulation circuit 125 demodulates the second high frequency signal F H to obtain received data.
The same data is output to the processing device 128 via the line 127. Processing device 128 determines whether the data demodulated by demodulation circuit 125 is data addressed to another station. If the data is destined for another station,
Processor 128 rejects the data. On the other hand, if the data is not addressed to another station, the processing device 128
takes in the same data and performs the necessary processing. For example, if the demodulated data (received data) from the demodulation circuit 125 is collision notification data, the processing device 12
8 immediately stops sending data if it is in progress,
After the delay time td 1 (if the second high frequency signal F H has not been received), retransmission is performed. In addition, if the demodulated data is data transmitted from the own station, the processing device 128 checks whether there is an error for each bit, and if there is no error, it continues the transmission, and if there is an error, it stops the transmission and prevents a collision. Retransmission is performed in the same way as in the case of occurrence. In addition, in the system shown in Figure 1a, transmission system B
Since the distance is several kilometers or more, the delay time in transmission system B becomes long. For this reason, in the above system, the time from transmitting the local station data to receiving the local station data is long, making it difficult to detect errors by comparing bit by bit. Therefore, the processing device 128 in this embodiment also has a function of storing all of the transmitted data or a predetermined data length portion at the beginning and performing error detection by comparing the data with the received data.

According to the present invention, by using a two-way CATV network,
In a system in which multiple computers installed on the terminal side communicate with each other, collisions of first high-frequency signals as transmission data signals sent from each of the computers are detected by a frequency converter installed on the center equipment side. Normally, a second high-frequency signal obtained by converting the frequency of the first high-frequency signal is transmitted to the terminal side, but when a collision is detected, a second high-frequency signal corresponding to the collision notification data that notifies the occurrence of a collision is transmitted to the terminal side. Since a high frequency signal is transmitted to the terminal side, transmission from the computer is temporarily stopped, and then retransmitted, each computer on the terminal side can transmit at any time. Therefore, in order to prevent collisions, a host computer is installed on the center equipment side, and this computer controls the computers on the terminal side using polling signals, thereby prohibiting transmission at any time. , waiting time is reduced, and processing time can be shortened. Further, in the present invention, since a high-speed polling signal for reducing waiting time is not applied, the utilization rate of the CATV band is good. Furthermore, the present invention does not require high-speed components compared to conventional systems, so the system can be constructed at low cost.
