2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, a pattern attached to a vehicle wheel cover is drawn by mask painting or the like after the wheel cover is molded, or the pattern portion of the wheel cover main body is made to have an uneven shape in order to give a three-dimensional pattern. It is usually performed by injection molding or the like. The former one in which a pattern is drawn has a poor three-dimensional effect, and it is difficult to create an excellent three-dimensional pattern for the wheel cover. In the latter case where the shape of the wheel cover main body is made uneven by injection molding etc., of course, although it looks three-dimensional, dirt, such as mud, tends to be attached to the uneven parts, especially the recesses, and the adhered dirt is removed by washing with water etc. It wasn't easy either. further,
When the wheel cover main body is formed into a concavo-convex shape by injection molding of synthetic resin or the like, flow marks and weld lines are formed on the surface of the wheel cover main body by allowing the resin to pass through the portion of the injection molding die corresponding to the concavo-convex portion. It is apt to occur, the mechanical strength is lowered at the portion where the weld line is generated, and the appearance is impaired at the flow mark portion.

In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, a vehicle wheel cover according to the present invention is provided with a large number of fine flake-shaped magnetic particles on a flat portion of the surface of the body of the wheel cover formed into a substantially disc shape. A transparent or semi-transparent coating film in which the body is mixed forms a pattern having a contour of a predetermined shape on the flat portion of the surface of the wheel cover body, and the direction of the magnetic substance in the coating film is in the central portion of the contour. It seems that the contour on the flat surface is substantially parallel to the above-mentioned coating surface and is oriented in a direction substantially intersecting the coating surface on both sides of the contour, and the contour on the flat surface is projected or receded as compared with other portions. It was made visible to me.

The method for manufacturing a vehicle wheel cover according to the present invention is a transparent or semi-transparent liquid in which a large number of fine flake-shaped magnetic substances are mixed on the surface of a vehicle wheel cover main body formed in a substantially disc shape. When the magnetic material in the paint is movable before and after the step of applying the paint, positions on the predetermined radius from the center of the wheel cover body and at equal intervals in the circumferential direction. Has a portion facing in a direction substantially parallel to the coating film surface, and this portion forms a magnetic field that generates magnetic force lines that delineate a predetermined shape on the coating film surface, and determines the position and / or angle of the magnetic substance. The method includes the steps of moving along the direction of the lines of magnetic force, and the step of solidifying the coating film until the position and / or angle of the magnetic material in the applied coating film does not change.

[Function] The uneven pattern that appears on the wheel cover is
A large number of fine flake-like magnetic substances are mixed in a transparent or semi-transparent coating film and formed by mutual changes in the directions of the magnetic substances, and the pattern that appears gives a three-dimensional effect. The surface itself of the cover body is not uneven. Further, even when injection-molded, the wheel cover has less deterioration in mechanical strength and appearance. Further, the magnetic fields for forming the pattern at a plurality of locations are arranged so that the mutual interference of the magnetic fields is uniform over the entire wheel cover. It is not evenly disturbed.

In FIG. 1, reference numeral 11 is an article to be coated which is made of a non-magnetic material such as plastic. For example, the magnet 13 such as a plate-shaped permanent magnet is processed according to the pattern to be exposed, and is arranged on the back side of the article to be coated to form a predetermined magnetic field.
The dotted lines shown in the figure indicate the directions of the magnetic lines of force formed. The magnet has an N pole on the upper side and an S pole on the lower side on the paper surface. The north pole and the south pole may be opposite. The magnetic lines of force within the shape of the magnet 13 are oriented substantially at right angles to the coating surface and are located slightly outward from the end of the magnet (area B in the figure).
Then, the direction of the magnetic force lines changes rapidly and becomes parallel to the coating film surface (the tangential direction of the magnetic force lines is parallel to the coating film surface), and the intersecting angle of the magnetic force lines applied to both sides of the parallel portion is approximately 90 °. Further, in a portion sufficiently distant from the magnet (area D in the figure), the magnetic force lines are oriented substantially at right angles to the coating surface. At the point of magnetic charge m, magnetic permeability μ, and distance r, the magnetic field strength H is H = m
It is represented by / 4πμ · R / r 3 . In the formula, capital letters indicate vectors. H decreases in inverse proportion to the square of the distance. Therefore, in the area D, the strength of the magnetic field is significantly smaller than that in the areas A and B.

The magnetic substance sprayed in this magnetic field is shown in FIG.
As shown in FIG. 5, the magnetic field is arranged at an angle (hereinafter referred to as an upright angle) with respect to the coating surface along the line of magnetic force, and the vertical angle is fixed while being held by the paint sprayed together with the magnetic material. At this time, the density of the sprayed magnetic material is slightly increased at the place where the magnetic flux density is strong.

As shown in FIG. 1, the vertical angle arrangement is A
In the area, more magnetic material than in other areas is almost perpendicular to the coating surface, and in area B, which is the outline of the pattern, more magnetic material is in parallel at the center than in other areas. , On both sides of it, more magnetic material is skewed than in other areas, intersecting at an angle of about 90 °. Although the magnetic substance in the C region has less regularity than that in the B region, the magnetic substance is fixed along the lines of magnetic force almost obliquely with respect to the coating film surface, but in the D region, the magnetic force is weak and is not easily affected by the magnetic field. In the right direction. That is, in the region B, the magnetic substance is substantially parallel to the coating film surface, and in the regions A and C, it is oriented substantially in the direction intersecting the coating film surface.

FIG. 2A shows a state in which the magnetic material is perpendicular to the coating film. Most of the light applied from the top surface (when the article to be coated is viewed from the front) is transmitted or absorbed, and little light is reflected, so that the light appears to be blacker than the gray color and recedes from the other parts. FIG. 2 (B) shows a state in which the magnetic material is parallel to the coating surface. Since most of the incident light from the upper surface is reflected, it looks whiter than gray color and looks more floating than other parts. Fig. 2 (C) shows the case where the postures are randomly arranged, and the incident light from the upper surface is scattered and appears gray color. .. FIG. 2 (D) shows a case where the magnetic material is obliquely arranged, and when viewed from the direction of the arrow L, it appears whiter than the gray color and appears to rise, but when viewed from the direction of the arrow R, it is blacker than the gray color. It looks like it recedes more than other parts.

In the above description, it is presumed that what appears to be white is because the magnetic material is silver-white and reflects light. If the magnetic material is coated beforehand with a gold-colored substance, etc., that part will appear golden. It should be noted that when the surface of the magnetic body is a dark color such as black, it is presumed that the above description is reversed.

In this embodiment, the pattern 1 having the contours of four hexagonal nuts on the surface of the wheel cover body 101.
07, 107, ... are revealed. This nut pattern 1
The outline of 07 is a regular hexagon on the outside and a circle on the inside. The nut pattern appears at a constant distance in the radial direction from the wheel cover center P and at equal intervals in the circumferential direction. That is, even if the magnetic fields interfere with each other in the process of forming the nut patterns 107, 107, and the direction of the lines of magnetic force is disturbed, that is, the contour of the pattern 107 is partially disturbed, the disturbance is observed as the entire wheel cover. Sometimes it appears in a balanced position. The nut pattern 10
7 will be described with reference to FIGS. 5 (A), 5 (B) and FIGS. 6 (A), 6 (B), 6 (C). FIGS. 5 (A) and 5 (B) show a case where a magnetic field is formed on the flat outer surface of the wheel cover body 101 by a plate-shaped nut-shaped magnet having a regular hexagonal outer periphery and a round hole in the center. The appearance pattern is enlarged and shown. The nut-shaped magnet 31 shown by the dotted lines 31a and 31b in FIG.
As shown in (A), when it is brought into close contact with the back side of the wheel cover body 101, the magnetic force lines appear as the dotted lines in the figure. FIG. 6B shows a typical orientation of the magnetic substance in each portion. In FIG. 6 (A), the gray-colored portion is a virtual reference line based on the principle described above, and the portion above the reference line appears white and the portion that appears to float above the other portions,
It is a figure showing the distribution degree of a portion below the reference line that appears black and recedes from the other portions, and the peak portion appears to be the most white, that is, the most raised. As can be seen from FIG. 5 (A) or 5 (B), the most magnetic substance is parallel to the coating surface because the magnet 31
It is not on the edges 31a, 31b but at a position slightly deviated therefrom, that is, the solid line portions 35a, 35b in FIG. 5 (B). In the present embodiment, the plurality of patterns has the shape of four regular hexagonal nuts on the same radius, but the number of patterns is not limited to one, but two or more patterns on the same radius and in the circumferential direction are equal. As long as the positions of the intervals are maintained, the shape and the number (location) thereof are not limited and can be freely selected. Further, the number of patterns is not limited to a plurality of patterns appearing at independent positions, and even if the number of patterns as a whole is one, one pattern has the same radius and the same circumferential direction. A plurality of identical patterns having contours of a specific shape may be provided at intervals. Examples of such a pattern include a gear shape, a petal shape, and a star shape.

As described above, according to the present invention, even if the magnetic fields formed by the respective magnets influence each other and the lines of magnetic force interfere and are disturbed, the arrangement of the magnets maintains a specific relationship. Since they are arranged, those disturbances are well balanced when viewed as the entire wheel cover, and there are no locally disturbed portions, so the pattern formed on the wheel cover main body is uniform as a whole. It has the effect of appearing in the pattern. Further, it becomes possible to form a pattern coating film with a simple device.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, a pattern attached to a wheel cover for a vehicle is drawn by mask painting or the like after the wheel cover body is molded, or the pattern portion of the wheel cover body is uneven to give a three-dimensional appearance. It was usually performed by injection molding or the like. Furthermore, when the wheel cover body is formed into a concavo-convex shape by injection molding of synthetic resin or the like, the resin passes through the portion of the injection mold that corresponds to the concavo-convex portion so that flow marks or welds are formed on the surface of the wheel cover body. Lines are apt to occur, the mechanical strength is lowered at the portion where the weld line is produced, and the flow mark has a drawback of impairing the appearance.

A method for manufacturing a vehicle wheel cover according to the present invention is a method of applying a transparent or semi-transparent liquid coating in which a large number of fine flake-shaped magnetic materials are mixed on the surface of a vehicle wheel cover body formed in a substantially disc shape. And the magnetic substance in the coating material is movable before or after the coating step, the coating is applied at a predetermined radius from the center of the wheel cover body and at equal intervals in the circumferential direction. It has a portion that is oriented in a direction substantially parallel to the film surface, and this portion forms a magnetic field that generates magnetic force lines that delineate a predetermined shape on the coating film surface, and the position and / or angle of the magnetic substance is determined by The method includes the steps of moving along the direction and the step of solidifying the coating film to such an extent that the position and / or angle of the magnetic material in the applied coating film does not change.

EXAMPLES FIG. 1 is a diagram for explaining the principle of a patterned coating film using a magnetic field. In FIG. 1, reference numeral 11 is an article to be coated made of a non-magnetic material such as plastic. For example, the magnet 13 such as a plate-shaped permanent magnet is processed in accordance with the pattern to appear,
It is brought into close contact with the back side of the article to be coated 11 to form a predetermined magnetic field. The dotted lines shown in the figure indicate the directions of the magnetic lines of force formed. Magnet 13 has N pole on the upper side and lower side on the paper surface
Is the S pole. The north pole and the south pole may be opposite. Porcelain
The magnetic field lines within the range of the shape of the stone 13 (A region shown in the figure) are oriented almost at right angles to the coating surface, and in the portion slightly away from the end of the magnet 13 (B region shown in the figure). The direction of the lines of magnetic force changes sharply and becomes parallel to the surface of the coating film (the tangential direction of the lines of magnetic force is parallel to the surface of the coating film), and the intersecting angle of the lines of magnetic force applied to both sides of the parallel portion is approximately 90 °. Further, in a portion sufficiently distant from the magnet (area D in the figure), the magnetic force lines are oriented substantially at right angles to the coating surface. Magnetic charge m, permeability μ,
At a distance r, the magnetic field strength H is H = m / 4πμ · R /
It is indicated by r 3 . In the formula, capital letters indicate vectors. H decreases in inverse proportion to the square of the distance. Therefore, in the area D, the strength of the magnetic field is significantly smaller than that in the areas A and B. In the place where such a magnetic field is formed, a magnetic material 17 made of fine flaky iron, nickel or the like or an alloy thereof is placed in a transparent or translucent liquid coating material using a volatile solvent. Mix evenly, atomize this, and spray paint. As shown in FIG. 1, the magnetic substance 17 sprayed in the magnetic field has an angle (hereinafter referred to as an upright angle) with respect to the coating film surface along a magnetic line of force.
The vertical angle θ is fixed while being held at θ by the paint sprayed together with the magnetic body 17 . At this time, the density of the sprayed magnetic body 17 is slightly increased at a place where the magnetic flux density is strong. As shown in FIG. 1, the arrangement of the magnetic bodies 17 is such that a larger amount of the magnetic bodies 17 are substantially perpendicular to the coating surface in the area A than in the other areas, and in the area B which is the outline of the pattern. In the center, more magnetic bodies 17 are parallel to each other than in other areas, and on both sides thereof, more magnetic bodies 17 are oblique than in other areas, and intersect at an angle of about 90 °. B in C area
Although magnetic body 17 of those regularity less than the area is fixed at an angle with respect to substantially coating surface along the magnetic field lines, less susceptible to the influence of the magnetic field is weak force in the D region magnetic body 30
Turn in random directions. That is, in the B region, the magnetic material
Reference numeral 17 is substantially parallel to the coating surface, and in regions A and C, it is oriented substantially in the direction intersecting the coating surface. FIGS. 2A to 2D are diagrams showing that the intensity and direction of reflected light differ depending on the vertical posture of the magnetic body 17 . 2A to 2D, the coating material 15 is formed by passing the magnetic material 17 through spray coating three times (one reciprocation and a half) on the article 11 to be coated.
A transparent coating film 19 is formed on the coating film 15 .
In the following description, the surface of the coated product 11 is Ni flaky fine powder (surface Teisu a normal silver-white) and transparent liquid paint mixed with the (nickel) was spray applied as a magnetic body in gray This is the case in which the coating film 15 is formed by Figure 2
(A) shows a state in which the magnetic body 17 is perpendicular to the coating film.
Most of the light applied from the upper surface (when the article to be coated 11 is viewed from the front) is transmitted or absorbed, and the reflected light is small, so that it appears blacker than the gray color and recedes from the other portions. FIG. 2B shows a state in which the magnetic body 17 is parallel to the coating film surface. Since most of the incident light from the upper surface is reflected, it looks whiter than gray color and looks more floating than other parts. FIG. 2C shows a case where the postures are randomly arranged, and the incident light from the upper surface is scattered and appears gray color, which cannot be seen even if it floats up, nor when it recedes, and it cannot be seen three-dimensionally. .. FIG. 2D shows a case where the magnetic body 17 is obliquely arranged. When viewed from the direction of the arrow L, it appears whiter than the gray color and appears to float, but when viewed from the direction of the arrow R, it appears to be more gray than the gray color. It looks black and seems to recede more than other parts. In the above description, it is presumed that the white color appears because the magnetic body 17 is silver-white and reflects light. If the magnetic body 17 is previously coated with a golden substance or the like, the portion looks golden. It should be noted that when the surface of the magnetic body 17 is a dark color such as black, it is presumed that the above description is reversed. 3 to 6 show a first embodiment of the present invention. 3 and 4, the vehicle wheel cover main body (hereinafter referred to as " wheel cover ").
The main body 101 is injection-molded from a non-magnetic plastic material into a substantially disc shape.
The A shear plane shown in FIG. On the rear surface of the wheel cover body 101, a plurality of mounting portions 103, 103, ... For mounting on a road wheel of a vehicle, and a plurality of ventilation holes 105,
105, ... Are provided. In FIG. 4, the wheel cover body 101 is formed so as to form a part of the outer surface of a sphere having a predetermined radius, and the outer surface thereof is a flat surface except for the edge portions of the ventilation holes 105, 105, .... ing. Here, the term "flat" is not limited to the outer surface of a sphere having an infinite radius, but actually, a curved surface having a radius of about 100 mm or more may be continuous. That is, a flat surface is formed except for a portion such as an edge portion of the vent holes 105, 105, ... In this embodiment, the nut patterns 107, 10 having the contours of four hexagonal nuts are formed on the surface of the wheel cover body 101.
7, ... are revealed. The outline of the nut pattern 107 is a regular hexagon on the outside and a circle on the inside. The nut pattern 107 is shown in FIG.
(A), 5 (B) and FIGS. 6 (A), 6 (B), 6 (C)
Will be explained. 5A and 5B show a case where a magnetic field is formed on a flat outer surface of the wheel cover body 101 by a plate-shaped nut-shaped magnet 31 having a regular hexagonal outer peripheral edge and a round hole in the center. The pattern that appears is enlarged. Edge 31a indicated by the dotted line of FIG. 5 (B), the 31b
When the nut-shaped magnet 31 that it has is brought into close contact with the back side of the wheel cover main body 101 as shown in FIG. 5A, the magnetic force lines appear as the dotted lines in the figure. FIG. 6 (B)
Shows the typical orientation of the magnetic body 17 in each part.
Of. Fig. 6 (A) shows a gray color according to the principle described above.
The visible part is the virtual reference line, and the part above the reference line is
The part that looks white and looks higher than the other parts, and the reference line
The lower part looks black and looks more recessed than the other parts
It is a figure showing the degree of distribution of the part, and the peak part is the most
Showing white, that is, the most visible
There is. As can be seen from FIG. 5 (A) or 5 (B), the magnetic material
Most of 17 is parallel to the coating surface because the magnet 3
1 rather than on the edges 31a, 31b, but at a position slightly deviated from that, that is, the contours 35a, 3 shown by the solid line in FIG. 5B.
5b. In addition, the number of patterns is not limited to those appearing in multiple independent positions,
The overall pattern may be one, or one pattern may have a plurality of identical patterns having contours of a specific shape on the same radius and at equal intervals in the circumferential direction. .. Examples of such a pattern include a gear shape, a petal shape, and a star shape. Figure 7

Then, the magnet 119 and the back side of the wheel cover 101 are applied with appropriate pressure so that each magnetic field is uniformly generated in each pattern portion. After fixing the wheel cover body 101, a transparent liquid coating material in which the fine flake-shaped magnetic material and the solvent are mixed almost uniformly is uniformly applied by, for example, a spray gun. Then, a pattern appears on the coating film according to the above-described principle. When the solvent volatilizes and the viscosity of the coating film increases to prevent the magnetic substance from moving, the vehicle wheel cover is removed from the fixing member 121 and dried by a known method. In the method of the above-described embodiment, the coating material in which the fine flake-shaped magnetic material is mixed is applied in the state where the magnetic field is previously formed, but this step may be reversed. That is,
After applying the paint, the paint still maintains fluidity, and while the magnetic material in the paint film can move and change its direction,
A magnetic field can be formed from above or below the wheel cover body 101 to reveal the pattern. FIG. 9 shows another embodiment in which the magnet is arranged on the front surface side of the wheel cover body. The method and apparatus in FIG.

143, ... Are provided. In addition, the inner cover 137
On the side facing the surface of the wheel cover main body 139, even if the magnetic fields of a plurality of magnets 147, 147, ... Forming each other interfere with each other to disturb the direction of the magnetic force lines, the disturbance is the entire wheel cover. It is placed in a well-balanced position when observed as. For example, in this embodiment as well, as in FIG. 8, they are arranged on the same radius and at equal intervals in the circumferential direction. The outer cover 145 of the lid 131 has an air or warm air supply port 151. Using the above-described apparatus, after the flaky paint containing magnetic mix was applied to the wheel cover body 139 in a state of opening the lid 131 to close the lid 131, as shown in FIG. 9, the magnet 147 To form a magnetic field and to supply air, preferably warm air, by an air supply means to volatilize the solvent in the paint. In the method of this embodiment, the distance between the surface of the magnet 147 and the coating surface is not limited by the thickness of the wheel cover body 139, so that the distance can be set freely, and as a result, the magnetic force exerted on the coating surface can be reduced. Can be adjusted. Further, the wheel cover body 139 can be applied to a case in which the magnet 147 cannot be arranged on the back surface because there is a rib or the like on the back surface corresponding to the portion where the pattern is formed on the front surface. In the present invention, the coating material to be applied is liquefied with a transparent solvent, and a large number of fine flake-shaped magnetic materials, in the present embodiment, Ni minute flake particles are mixed into the coating material to further enhance the quick-drying property. In addition, thinner is mixed to reduce the viscosity and facilitate spraying. The coating surface may be semi-transparent, or may be a light color such as white or yellow that allows some light rays to pass therethrough. included. The object to be coated used in the present invention, that is, the wheel cover body 101 for a vehicle, 1
The material and shape of 39 are not particularly limited. It is particularly preferable to use a non-magnetic material such as plastic or aluminum, but a ferromagnetic material such as iron or an alloy containing iron may be used. Its shape, especially thickness constant thickness of the portion to be coated, i.e. only magnetic field wheel of when hit down the magnets 119,147 on the back can be controlled standing angle of the flaky magnetic body 17 to be coated It may be any thickness as long as it appears on the surface of the cover bodies 101 and 139. It can be applied to different thicknesses by combining the viscosity of the paint used and the strength of the magnetic force. The fine flake-shaped magnetic body 17 used in the present invention is preferably in the shape of a thin plate, and is not limited to its planar shape. The material is a ferromagnet such as iron, nickel, cobalt or their alloys,

-20 μm is preferable. The paint used in the present invention is preferably a resin that can be dried or cured by reaction at room temperature, but it may be a heat-curable type or a UV irradiation-curable type. For example, it may be an alkyd resin, a polyester resin, an acrylic resin, a urethane resin, a vinyl resin, or the like. As the solvent, an organic solvent or water is used. As the volatile solvent, those having dilutability and volatility, for example, thinner and the like are preferable, in particular,
If the proportion of low boiling point solvent such as methyl ethyl ketone is increased, the quick-drying property is improved. The mixing ratio of the magnetic powder and the vehicle is preferably 10 to 20% by weight based on 100% by weight of the vehicle. The spray coater may be one used for ordinary spray coating and is not particularly limited. Also, when the paint is a thermosetting type, after the magnetic substance in the coating film does not move,
It is necessary to appropriately heat with warm air or infrared rays. When the coating material is UV curable, it is necessary to irradiate it with ultraviolet rays from a mercury lamp or the like. In any of the above examples, it is preferable to form a transparent or semi-transparent coating film containing no magnetic substance on the surface of the coating film containing a magnetic substance. Also,
Application is not limited to spraying, but includes depping, flow coating, and the like.
