This type of optical connector generally includes a plurality of optical core wires, and the optical fibers are arranged horizontally in a straight line so as to be exposed at the end face of the connector body. This type of optical connector is used to connect to a high-density optical cable using multi-core bundled tape core wires installed underground and then to a single-core bundled cable installed overhead. In the conventional technology,
The multiple optical core wires that are assembled are arranged horizontally in a straight line like optical fibers, so the width increases due to the coating of the optical core wires, which increases the width of the optical connector, and the coating of the optical core wires increases. If the bend from the end of the optical fiber to the end of the optical fiber increases, and if you try to reduce the bend of the optical fiber,
The disadvantage was that the length of the optical connector increased and its strength decreased.

An embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. Fig. 1 shows a single-core optical connector 10 according to the present invention, and this optical connector 10 has a plurality of (10 in the illustrated example) optical fibers. An end forming device 14 that collects and gathers the core wires 12 and an optical fiber 12 provided at the front end thereof and exposed by peeling off the coating of each optical core wire 12.
It consists of a connector main body 18 including a ferrule 16 which is penetrated by a ferrule 16 and exposed at the front end surface. The terminal forming tool 14 has a core wire storage section 14 in which the optical core wire 12 is stored, as shown in FIGS. 2 to 4.
A and a fiber accommodating part 14B that is formed continuously with the core fiber accommodating part 14A and narrowed so that the optical fibers 12a are gathered together. In the illustrated embodiment, the terminal former 14 is connected to the former body 1
5A and a lid 15B, and has a structure divided into upper and lower halves, and has an optical core line 12 and its optical fiber 12.
a is stored in the main body 15A of the terminal forming tool 14 and is stored with the lid 15B closed.
As can be seen from FIG. 1, the optical fibers 12a are arranged horizontally in a straight line and exposed at the distal end surface of the ferrule 16. In addition, in Fig. 1, the reference numeral 2
Reference numeral 2 denotes a pin fitting hole provided at the tip of the ferrule 16 into which a fitting pin of a mating optical connector is fitted. In the optical connector 10 of the present invention, as can be seen from FIGS. 2 to 4, the plurality of optical core wires 12 are stored in the core wire storage portion 14A of the terminal forming tool 14, which is divided into upper and lower halves of the connector main body 18. The optical fibers 12a, which are arranged in multiple stages and whose coatings are peeled off at the tips of each optical core wire 12, are vertically aligned horizontally in a straight line toward the tip end surface of the ferrule 16 within the fiber storage section 14B of the terminal forming tool 14. and horizontally. In the illustrated embodiment, the optical core line 1
2 are arranged in two stages, and the center axes of the upper and lower stages are shifted by half a pitch. In this way, the width of the terminal forming tool 14 is reduced by half compared to the case where a plurality of optical core wires 12 are arranged horizontally in a straight line, and it is particularly noteworthy that,
It can be seen that the curvature of the bent portion 20 of the optical fiber 12a becomes smaller.

4 and 5 show other examples of the arrangement of the optical core wires 12 when stored in the core wire storage section 14A as shown in FIG. 2, and as can be seen from these examples, the arrangement of the optical core wires 12 is can be arranged in any manner as long as it has multiple stages.

According to the present invention, as described above, the coated optical core wires are arranged in multiple stages within the two-split end forming tool, and the coated optical fibers are gathered up and down and laterally. I arranged it so that
The overall width and length of the optical connector can be reduced, so it can be miniaturized, and since the terminal forming tool has a structure that is divided into upper and lower halves, it is easy to incorporate optical core wires and optical fibers. Furthermore, since the bending of the optical fiber can be reduced, there is a practical benefit in that a highly reliable optical connector can be provided.
