Description of the Related Art Generally, in an electrophotographic apparatus such as a copying machine, an electrostatic latent image formed on the surface of a photoconductor is developed by using a developer composed of an electrophotographic toner to visualize the latent image. To obtain a toned image. A developing device for performing such development includes a developer transport sleeve that is rotationally driven, and transports the toner frictionally charged by the sleeve to a developing area to perform the development. As a developing device like this,
There is known a device of a type in which a bias voltage is applied to the sleeve and a developer, that is, a charged toner is held and conveyed by an electric attraction force. In this type of apparatus, a rotary fur brush is provided so as to rub against the developer transport sleeve. The fur brush stirs the developer (toner) to frictionally charge it, and after the developer passes through the developing area. The toner remaining on the surface of the developer carrying sleeve is cleaned.

る。In the developing device of the present invention, an electret fur brush 15 is provided in such a positional relationship that it rubs against the sleeve 2, whereby the toner remaining on the sleeve 2 as a result of frictional charging by stirring the toner 4 is provided. 4 is removed. This electret fur brush 15
2, the brush 15 has a structure in which a conductive core 15a is provided with an electret bristle material 15b, and the tip of the bristle material 15b has a polarity opposite to that of the toner 4. It has a polar charge, and its root has a charge of the same polarity as the charging polarity of the toner 4. That is, since the tip of the bristle material 15b rubs against the sleeve 2,
The toner remaining on the sleeve 2 is easily removed by the electric attraction force acting on it. A bias voltage having the same polarity as the electric charge at the tip of the bristle 15b is applied to the core 15a of the electret fur brush 15. As a result, an electric repulsive force acts between the tip of the bristle material 15b and the core body 15a, so that the bristle material 15b does not lie down and the hair is disturbed even when the developing device is used for a long period of time.
As a material of the electret bristle material 15b, any polymer material capable of permanent electric polarization can be used. Generally, polyethylene, polypropylene, ethylene-butene copolymer, ion-crosslinked olefin copolymer is used. Olefin resins such as polymer, ethylene-acrylic copolymer; polyvinyl fluoride, polyvinylidene fluoride, vinyl fluoride / vinylidene fluoride copolymer, tetrafluoroethylene resin (PTFE), tetrafluoroethylene-perfluoroalkoxy Fluorine resin such as ethylene copolymer resin (PFA resin) and tetrafluoroethylene-hexafluoropropylene copolymer resin (FEP resin); chlorine resin such as polyvinyl chloride and chlorinated polyolefin; polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene naphthalate, poly Thermoplastic polyester such as butylene terephthalate Ether; nylon 6, nylon 1
2, polyamides such as nylon 6,6 and nylon 6,10; various acrylic resins and the like are used alone or in combination of two or more. Among these, PTFE resin and PF
Fluorine resins such as A resin and FEP resin are preferable because they have good charge retention and durability. The electret is produced by applying an arbitrary method known per se such as a thermal electretization method, an electro-electretization method, a radiation electretization method, an optical electretization method or the like depending on the type of polymer to be used. The thermal electretization method and the electro-electretization method are advantageously applied to the above-mentioned polymers, particularly fluororesins. Further, as shown in FIG. 3, the electret bristle material 15b is prepared by cutting the electret sheet or film 15 ′ obtained as described above along the dotted line A, and attaching this to a conductive core body. Thus, the electret fur brush used in the present invention is obtained.

Is set to be larger than the surface potential (absolute value) of the developer transport sleeve 2. When the two are the same or in the opposite relationship, since the electric attraction force acting between the sleeve 2 and the charged toner 4 is large, it becomes difficult to effectively remove the residual toner. .. The surface potential (absolute value) of the brush 15 is preferably smaller than the surface potential (absolute value) of the photosensitive layer 10. If not, development may be inconvenient. Further, the bias voltage applied to the core body 15a may be such that an electric repulsive force that prevents hair disorder at the tip of the hair material 15b is generated, and is usually 200 although it varies depending on the charge density at the tip of the hair material 15b. A range of up to 800V is suitable. As shown in FIG. 1, the electret fur brush 15 preferably rotates in the opposite direction to the developer transport sleeve 2. When rotating in the same direction, the electret fur brush 15 moves from that position to the opening portion (that is, Toner scattering from the developing area) may occur.

The charging plate 20 is charged to the same polarity as the charging toner 4, and the charging plate 2
When 0 and the brush 15 come into contact with each other, the residual toner adsorbed on the brush 15 flies by the electric repulsive force from the charging plate 20 and the elastic restoring force of the brush 15, and adheres to the developing sleeve 2 again. It is held and transported and reused for development. As such a charging plate 20, for example, a resin plate or a metal plate made of the above-described electret material is used. When using a metal plate, a bias voltage may be applied to the metal plate to charge the metal plate to the same polarity as the toner 4. The charge density and the like of the charging plate 20 may be appropriately determined so that the detachment of the toner from the brush 15 is effectively promoted.

A developing device in electrophotography, wherein a bias voltage having the same polarity as the electric charge at the tip of the bristle electret is applied to the core of the fur brush.
