In that case, reinforcing base materials may be laminated and sewn together with sewing thread to form a preform material, as described, for example, in US Pat. No. 4,622,254. This not only saves you the trouble of laminating reinforcing base materials each time during molding, but also
This is because the sewing thread can be expected to improve the interlaminar shear strength, interlaminar peel strength, etc. of the preform material and, by extension, the composite material.

機械的特性や信頼性はなかなか向上しない。 By the way, organic fibers such as glass fiber threads and polyester fiber threads are sometimes used as sewing threads when manufacturing such preform materials, but these have high water absorption and low heat resistance. For example, the adhesion of the composite material to matrix resin may be poor, or the thermal expansion difference between the composite material and carbon fiber may be large, resulting in deterioration of the properties of the composite material due to thermal cycle fatigue, and the strength and modulus of elasticity may deteriorate. Since there are problems such as poor mechanical properties, it is said that it is most preferable to use carbon fiber yarn, which is free from such concerns. However, if carbon fiber yarn is used in the form of a simple fiber bundle, carbon fibers are extremely brittle, and single fibers may break due to abrasion during sewing, or significant fluffing may occur, resulting in damage to preform materials and even composite materials. It is difficult to improve the mechanical properties and reliability of materials.

ことである。 In particular, when the reinforcing base material is made of woven or knitted fabric, the number of single fibers in the weaving yarn or knitting yarn, that is, the carbon fiber bundle that constitutes it, is 3,000 to 30,000, depending on the carbon fiber diameter. It is preferable that the amount is within a certain range. Also,
The carbon fiber bundle is preferably untwisted in order to improve the impregnating properties of the matrix when forming the composite material. At most, it should be less than 15 turns/m. In addition, high-strength, high-modulus carbon fibers with a tensile strength of 350 Kg/mm 2 or more and a tensile modulus of 20×10 3 Kg/mm 2 or more measured according to the method specified in JIS R 7601. Preferably in bundles.
Carbon fiber bundles include sewing thread, which will be described later.
A sizing agent may be added. In addition, as weaving yarns and knitting yarns made of such carbon fiber bundles,
The fineness of the fabric should be around 500 to 3600 deniers, and the fabric weight should be 160 for bidirectional fabrics.
~400 g/m 2 , and using a unidirectional fabric of about 80 to 200 g/m 2 improves the morphological stability when sutured with sewing thread and improves the mechanical properties of the preform material and, ultimately, the composite material. This is a good thing.

い。 Furthermore, when the reinforcing base material is made of a woven or knitted fabric, it is laminated so that the carbon fiber bundles constituting it are oriented in any direction. For example, if it is desired to impart pseudo-isotropy to a preform material, or even a composite material, adjacent reinforcing base materials can be stacked such that the directions of the carbon fiber bundles are shifted by, for example, 45 degrees. Although the number of laminated layers can be selected arbitrarily, it is preferable that the direction of the carbon fiber bundles be mirror-symmetrical when viewed from the center in the thickness direction, since this will prevent warping when made into a composite material.

Preferred is a single chain stitch in which the upper thread and lower thread do not become entangled in the preform material. Suture pitch is 5
~20mm is sufficient. In addition, suturing is normally done uniformly at intervals of about 5 to 20 mm over the entire surface of the reinforcing base material, but if the stitching is done at key points, such as near the end surface or if there are holes, the holes should be closed. It is also possible to make the suture intervals closer around the periphery.

は、ASTM D 2556によつて測定する。 In other words, the sewing thread will be located on the surface of the preform material, so if it is thicker than 3000 denier,
The irregularities on the surface of the preform material, and by extension the composite material, become large and areas with excessive matrix are likely to be formed, making it impossible to obtain a composite material with excellent mechanical properties and reliability. The lower limit may be any value as long as it can be used as a sewing thread. Also,
Sewing threads with a knot strength lower than 1 g/denier may break during suturing, or even if they do not break, single fiber breakage and fluffing will be significant, which will greatly affect the mechanical properties and reliability of the preform material and, by extension, the composite material. begins to decline. Note that the knot strength is measured according to ASTM D 2556.

Therefore, the single yarn has a twist in the opposite direction to the ply twist. This relationship between the direction of ply twist and the direction of twist of the single yarn is important for restraining the single fibers and effectively preventing single fiber breakage and fuzzing. It is useful for balancing the untwisting torque applied to the sewing thread to prevent twisting of the sewing thread, making suturing operations easier, and for improving the reliability of composite materials by reducing variations between products. , is an essential requirement for obtaining composite materials with excellent mechanical properties. The preferred number of twists of single yarn is in the range of 20 to 180 turns/m, and the number of twists is within the range of 20 to 180 turns/m.

ない。 The fineness of the single threads that make up the sewing thread is
It must have a denier of 0.5 or less and an elongation at break of 2.5% or more, preferably 3.5% or more.
That is, in the case of thick single fibers with a fineness of more than 0.5 denier, the stress generated by bending during stitching is large, making it impossible to effectively prevent single fiber breakage and generation of fuzz. In addition, to prevent single fiber breakage and fuzzing, it is not enough that the fineness is 0.5 denier or less; it is also necessary that the elongation at break is 2.5% or more.
In other words, when a single fiber is bent during suturing, tensile and compressive stresses are generated simultaneously in the single fiber, but single fiber breakage and fuzz occur when the single fiber is repeatedly subjected to tension and compression. This cannot be prevented unless the single fiber has a high degree of strength of 2.5% or more.

In this method, a single fiber is placed on a glass plate on which 1 to 2 drops of glycerin has been applied, so that it forms a single loop, and a preparation is placed on top of the glass plate. This is a method in which both ends are pulled at a constant speed to break, and the result is calculated using the following formula.

By doing so, the force acting on the sewing thread will be applied uniformly to each single thread, which will not only prevent thread breakage, but also improve the reliability and mechanical properties of the composite material. You will be able to do this.

ある。 The preform material of the present invention can be made into CFRP by, for example, impregnating it with a thermosetting resin such as an epoxy resin or an unsaturated polyester resin, followed by heating and pressure molding. Further, for example, CFRC can be obtained by impregnating a phenol resin, furan resin, pitch, etc., and then heating and firing to carbonize the resin, pitch, etc. Furthermore, for example, by impregnating molten metal that will become a matrix in a mold and solidifying it.
It can be CFRM. The molding itself can be performed by a conventionally well-known method.

~7. The fabrics 1 to 7 are arranged in layers, and the fabric 1 is arranged so that its warp is 0° with respect to the longitudinal direction of the preform material.
Similarly, fabric 2 is at 45°, fabric 3 is at 0°
So that the angle of fabric 4 is 45 degrees, the angle of fabric 5 is 0 degrees, and the angle of fabric 6 is 45 degrees.
The fabrics 7 are arranged so that the angle is 0°. This is a so-called pseudo-isotropic stack. Therefore, this preform material has a fabric 4 at the center in the thickness direction.
When viewed from above, the directions of the carbon fiber bundles in each fabric are mirror symmetrical.

とができるようになる。(Effects of the Invention) The reinforcing base material of the present invention connects a plurality of sheet-like reinforcing fiber base materials arranged in layers by sewing threads having a specific configuration, that is, a plurality of single threads made of carbon fiber bundles. has a ply twist, has a fineness of 3000 denier or less, and has a knot strength of 1 g/denier or more,
Each of the single yarns has a twist in a direction opposite to the ply twist,
The fineness of the single fibers is 0.5 denier or less, the elongation at break of the single fibers is 2.5% or more, and it is sewn with a sewing thread that has almost no single fiber breakage, fuzzing, or twisting, so it has a high strength and elastic modulus. This makes it possible to obtain composite materials with excellent mechanical properties. Also, since the sewing thread is made of carbon fiber,
It also improves the weather resistance, water resistance, heat resistance, etc. of composite materials. Furthermore, since the sewing thread made of carbon fiber bundles that has a reinforcing effect on the matrix extends in the thickness direction of the preform material, the interlaminar strength such as interlaminar shear strength and interlaminar peel strength of the preform material and, ultimately, the composite material is improved. Furthermore, since the above-mentioned sewing thread is easy to stitch, it is possible to obtain a composite material with excellent reliability and small variations in properties between products.
