In order to solve this problem, we used a laminate of an insulating support and a conductive layer for the ink carrier.
A system was developed in which a support was provided with many small holes, ink was held in the holes, and a recording current was passed through the paths of the recording electrode, ink, conductive layer, and return electrode to generate heat and eject the ink. (Refer to Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 61-219660).

However, the support, which is an ink film, is an insulator, and the conductive layer has a controlled resistance value to the extent that it does not become a heat source. Although this conductive layer is not directly involved in holding the ink, it is responsible for the conduction of recording current. It is indispensable as a part of the current path.

Therefore, in the case where the support and the conductive layer are integrated into one layer, the conductive layer is required to have the same length as the support, and when the support is discarded, the conductive layer is also discarded.

In order to achieve the above object, the current transfer recording apparatus according to the present invention has a combination of a base film and an ink film, and records by generating heat in the base film to cause ink filled in the ink film to scatter and adhere to a recording medium. The base film is a laminate of a current-carrying layer and a conductive layer, and the current-carrying layer side is brought into contact with a needle electrode and a return electrode, and the current-carrying layer is a layer capable of generating heat. The conductive layer is a layer with negligible resistance, and the ink film has many small holes that are filled with ink, and at least a part of the film is in contact with the needle electrode. The conductive layer is placed over the conductive layer of the base film.

The ink film and the base film are overlapped, the back of the base film is pressed with a needle electrode, the small holes of the ink film are directed toward the recording medium, and the return electrode is brought into contact with a part of the back of the base film to apply voltage to the needle electrode. When applied, heat is generated at the interface between the current-carrying layer and the conductive layer, and the heat causes the ink in the small pores of the ink film to fly out, adhere to the recording medium, and perform recording. The base film only needs to be in contact with the ink film at least at the needle electrode portion, and the base film and the ink film can be driven independently.

Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 is a diagram showing the principle of an embodiment of the present invention. In the figure, an ink film 6 and a base film 3 are overlapped, a needle electrode 4 and a return electrode 5 are brought into contact with the back surface of the base film 3, and the ink film 6 is placed facing a recording medium 8.
This structure is basically the same as the conventional one, but in the present invention, the ink film 6 and the base film 3 are separate bodies and are placed one on top of the other.

The base film 3 is an integrated lamination of a current-carrying layer 1 and a conductive layer 2, where the current-carrying layer 1 has a certain resistance value, and the conductive layer 2 is a low-resistance layer whose resistance value can be ignored. It is. The current-carrying layer 1 is obtained by controlling the resistance value of a resin such as polyester, polycarbonate, or urethane containing conductive carbon or metal powder. In addition, it is also possible to make a metallic resistor by vapor deposition or sputtering of indium, tungsten, or the like. conductive layer 2
It can be made of vapor-deposited aluminum, or can be made of stainless steel film, copper film, chrome film, etc.

In the principle diagram of FIG. 1, when a voltage is applied to the needle electrode 4, a current flows through the current-carrying layer 1 to the conductive layer 2 as shown, and returns to the return electrode 5 through the conductive layer. The contact area of the return electrode 5 must be sufficiently resistive compared to that of the needle electrode 4. Then, heat is rapidly generated at the interface 3a due to the difference in resistance between the two layers 1 and 2, and the ink is heated on that surface, generating bubbles, the ink is ejected and adheres to the recording medium 8, and recording is performed.

Figure 2 shows an example of actual use. FIG. 2 shows an example in which transfer recording is performed on a recording medium wound around a platen 10, but in this embodiment, the ink film 14 and the base film 11 are separately driven and driven, and the back surface of the base film 11 is A portion of the base film 11 is pressed against the ink film 14 by pressing a portion with a needle electrode 12. Further, the return electrode 13 is brought into contact with a part of the base film 11 at a position away from the needle electrode 12. The base film 11 is separated from the ink film 14 at the position where the return electrode 13 contacts. 15 is an ink supply device. The ink film 14 comes into contact with an ink film supply device 15 during its feeding and is replenished with ink. In this usage example, the base film 11 can be driven independently of the ink film 14.

As described above, according to the present invention, since the separate base film and ink film are used in a superimposed manner, by bringing the needle electrode into contact with the non-porous base film side, the needle electrode against the molten ink is removed. A configuration that does not require waterproofing can be easily realized, and holes can be easily formed in the ink film. Further, according to the present invention, only one of the base film or the ink film can be replaced when the other deteriorates or is damaged, and the feeding speed of both films is made different so that the length of the ink film is shorter than the length of the ink film. A base film can be used, and an endless base film can be used in combination with an ink film.
