Abstract

A water heater (10) having a tank wall (12) and a bottom head (14) welded to the wall to provide a liquid tight chamber (16) therein. The bottom head has an upwardly directed circular flange (32) with a central opening therein. The flange (32) is connected to a flue tube in a unique manner. The connection between the flange (32) on the lower head and the flue tube (28) is accomplished by press-fitting the flange into the end of the tube and then welding the two parts together by a weld between the end of the tube and the outer surface of the flange (32).

In any of the above conventional examples, as shown in FIG.
At the same time, the cylindrical upper end 103 protruding upward of the bottom part 102 is fitted and welded to the outer diameter of the furnace tube 101, thereby forming a tank chamber 104 that accommodates the water to be heated, and furthermore, this tank The combustion chamber 105 in the lower part of the chamber is provided with a burner 106 for heating the water in the tank chamber.

In U.S. Patent No. 3,124,108, asbestos (numeral 55 in the same publication) is placed on the top surface of the burner.
If water vapor in the gas condenses on the inner surface of the furnace cylinder and becomes water, and the condensate drips from the bottom end of the furnace cylinder as water droplets 107 as shown in Figure 3, asbestos will absorb this. This prevents the flame from extinguishing upward from the side of the burner.

Further, in U.S. Pat. No. 4,372,290, the upper surface of the burner is provided with grooves (number 56 in the same publication), openings (also 60, 62, 64), and grooves (also 78, 8).
0, 82) are machined and provided, and these guide the condensate that has dripped onto the top surface of the burner and discharge it to the outside of the burner. This prevents the data from disappearing.

Problems to be Solved However, even with the above conventional example, there is a serious practical drawback in that as long as water droplets fall on the top surface of the burner, it is impossible to completely eliminate the possibility that the flow of condensed water will extinguish the flame. Moreover, it is troublesome to arrange and replace asbestos, and it is also troublesome to process grooves, grooves, etc. on the burner, resulting in high costs.

Arrangement of the Invention for Solving the Problems The present invention solves the above-mentioned drawbacks of the prior art, and its arrangement is such that the top and bottom parts 14 are welded to form a liquid-tight chamber 16 containing the water to be heated. a combustion chamber 20 disposed below the bottom portion 14; a burner 18 provided in the combustion chamber; and a cylindrical lower end portion 36 having an opening. a centrally disposed furnace tube 28 fixedly connected to the bottom 14 so as to communicate with the combustion chamber; The cylindrical upper end portion 32 is press-fitted from below into the inner periphery of the cylindrical lower end portion 36 of the furnace tube 28 by a predetermined dimension, and the furnace tube 28 is fitted into the inner periphery of the cylindrical lower end portion 36 of the furnace tube 28. 36 and the cylindrical upper end 3 of the bottom 14
The water heater is fixed to the bottom part 14 by welding 34 between the outer surface of the water heater 2 and the outer surface of the water heater 2.

According to the above configuration, the condensate consisting of water droplets flowing down the inner surface of the furnace cylinder hits the upper edge of the cylindrical upper end, and then flows down along the inner surface of the cylindrical upper end.
Furthermore, the surface tension of the water causes it to flow radially outward along the inner surface of the bottom member, and this condensate does not drip from the bottom surface of the bottom member until it reaches a point outside the perimeter of the burner.

This cylindrical upper end portion 32 is press-fitted into the inner periphery of the cylindrical lower end portion 36 of the furnace cylinder 28 from below by a predetermined dimension. Furthermore, the outer surface of the cylindrical lower end 36 of the furnace tube 28 and the outer surface of the cylindrical upper end 32 of the bottom section 14 are connected by the welded portion 34, whereby the furnace tube 28 is bonded and fixed to the bottom section 14.

According to the above configuration, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the condensate flowing down on the inner surface 38 of the furnace tube 28 hits the upper edge 42 of the cylindrical upper end 32, and then It flows down the inner surface 26 of the section 32 and further down the lower surface 40 of the bottom section 14 as shown by the dotted arrow in FIG.
and continues to flow radially outward along this line. Due to the surface tension of the water, the condensate does not drip from the surface 40 until it reaches a point further radially outward from the burner 18 periphery. In this way, condensate dripping into the burner and the problems associated therewith are eliminated.
