A small-diameter vapor escape passage 50 that communicates with is formed. This vapor escape passage 50 is for removing the vapor in the fuel flowing in the first pump chamber 42, and is provided at a position substantially opposite to the inlet port 48 across the diameter. Further, a groove 52 is formed in a portion of the housing body 26 where the vapor escape passage 50 is formed. The groove 52 extends in the radial direction of the housing body 26.

The vapor content in the fuel discharged into the housing 8 and pumped into the housing 8 is reduced. As a result, the vapor content of the fuel sent from the housing 8 to the engine (not shown) is inevitably low, and the so-called vapor lock phenomenon is prevented.

要性が特に高い。However, in the fuel pump configured as described above, the jet noise (fluid noise) is large when the fuel mixed with vapor is discharged into the fuel in the fuel tank 4 through the vapor escape passage 50 and the passage 56. This is because the pressure difference between the inside of the high-pressure pump chamber and the inside of the low-pressure fuel tank is large, and the opening of the passage 56 is open to the inside of the fuel tank. It is thought that this is because it is discharged into the fuel tank. Another possible cause is that the pressure of the discharged fuel mixed with vapor varies due to the pressure variation inside the pump chamber due to the variation of the operating voltage of the pump. In recent years, with the improvement of quietness of vehicles, the ratio of the sound emitted from a vapor jet to the noise in the passenger compartment has become relatively large, and the need for soundproofing measures against this sound has increased. It should be noted that this jet noise is louder as the pump has a larger capacity, that is, the larger the discharge amount from the vapor escape passage is, the higher the need for soundproofing measures for such a large pump.

There is one disclosed in Japanese Patent No. 121891. The former one is to provide an extension passage in the vapor escape passage and to open the passage to the space above the fuel tank in order to obtain a sound deadening effect, while the latter one has a long passage extending to the vapor escape passage. By doing so, the sound deadening effect is obtained.

However, it cannot be said that the silencing effect for low frequency (2 KHz or less) jet noise is sufficient.

A chamber having a volume capable of lowering the pressure of the fuel mixed with vapor and smoothing the pressure fluctuation is provided, and a throttle portion is formed between the chamber and the internal space of the fuel tank. It is set to be substantially perpendicular to the escape passage and opened in the radial direction of the fuel pump.

Therefore, the vapor-mixed fuel discharged into the fuel tank through the throttle portion is reduced in pressure and smoothed, and the sound emitted from the vapor is reduced.

In FIG. 1 corresponding to FIG. 13 showing a conventional example, a vapor escape passage 50 is formed in a housing body 26 and a groove 52 extending in a radial direction is formed. As a result, the chamber 62 is formed by the groove 52 and the cushion material 54. Further, a small-diameter through passage 60 is formed in the protrusion 58 so as to form a right angle with the vapor escape passage 50. As is clear from the drawing, the through passage 60 is opened in the radial direction of the housing body 26. Therefore, the chamber 62 is communicated with the first pump chamber 42 through the vapor escape passage 50 and the fuel tank 4 through the through passage 60. In this case, the fuel mixed with vapor is depressurized by being introduced into the chamber 62. Therefore, the low-pressure vapor-mixed fuel is discharged into the fuel tank 4, and the ejection noise is reduced.

Is smoothed. Therefore, the vapor-mixed fuel whose pressure has been reduced and whose pressure fluctuation has been smoothed is discharged into the fuel tank, and the ejection noise at the time of discharge is reduced. Furthermore, the throttle that connects the chamber and the internal space of the fuel tank is set to form a right angle to the vapor escape passage, so fuel mixed with vapor from the vapor escape passage must hit the wall surface of the chamber and enter the chamber. Diffused. This improves the pressure reducing effect on the fuel mixed with vapor. Also,
Since the throttle portion is opened in the radial direction of the fuel tank, the vaporized fuel is smoothly discharged into the fuel tank.
