By the way, a plasma display, an EL, or the like is driven at a relatively high voltage of 100 volts or more, and when an electrode is exposed due to a damage of the panel during operation, a person comes into contact with the exposed electrode to cause an electric shock accident. In order to prevent this, in the conventional display device, a means for providing a filter on the front surface of the display panel is adopted.

The display device according to the present invention is a discharge display panel in which a plurality of row electrodes and column electrodes, which are arranged to face each other, are blinked by supplying a selection signal from the outside. One of the column electrodes at the end opposite to the signal supply side
It is characterized in that a detection circuit is provided at one or a plurality of locations, and when the column electrode is cut off, the detection circuit is activated to stop the supply of all voltages supplied to the discharge display panel. .

Reference numeral 1 is a discharge display plate that has been subjected to anti-reflection processing, 2 is a column driver for driving the column electrode 4, 3 is a row driver for driving the row electrode S, and is provided on the column driver 2 side of the column electrode 4. In contrast,
The drive signal is given to the voltage detection circuit 6 having a high input resistance from an arbitrary electrode at the opposite end, and this signal is used,
By sending a signal to the voltage cutoff circuits 7 and 8, the output voltage of the column driver 2 and the row driver 3 can be cut off.

As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible to cut off the voltage supplied to the row driver and the column driver when each row electrode is disconnected due to an accident such as a panel breakage accident during the operation of the display device. Since it is possible to prevent electric shock accidents, it is possible to provide an extremely safe display device that does not require a filter. Further, in the display device according to the present invention, since the front substrate surface of the display panel is directly subjected to the antireflection treatment, it is possible to eliminate the problem that the resolution is lowered when the filter is used.

1. A discharge display panel in which a plurality of row electrodes and column electrodes arranged opposite to each other emit light at selected intersections, and the row electrodes are time-divisionally divided by a row electrode driving signal including a discharge pulse. In the display device that performs desired scanning by selectively scanning the row electrodes and selectively controlling the discharge pulse corresponding to the input data while keeping the row electrodes synchronized with the row drive signal, input the signals to the column electrodes. A voltage detection circuit is provided at one or a plurality of positions of the column electrode at the end opposite to the side where the column electrode is cut, and the voltage detection circuit detects disconnection of the column electrode and is applied to the matrix electrode when the column electrode is cut. A display device comprising means for stopping the supply of all the voltages.
