よって感光体ドラム上から回収されたトナーは再度現像
装置に戻され使用される場合もあるが、このようなトナ
ーを再使用することは、画像に悪影響を与える為、好ま
しくはなく一般には回収されたトナーを適宜な回収容器
に溜めておいて捨てることが行なわれている。

この方法では従来使用される感光体ドラム、特に有機感
光体は寿命が短く、数千〜2万枚程度であり、感光体ド
ラム内空間容積に対して、感光体ドラムの寿命迄に回収
されるトナー量が少なかった為に、トナー量満杯検知手
段を設ける必要もなく感光体ドラム交換と共に廃棄され
ていた。

駆動力を伝達する駆動力伝達手段としてはフランジ2、
ジョイント3、駆動ギヤ4、バネ7、ギヤ13を備える。
ギヤ13は、像担持体ドラム1のフランジ2に一体に形成
されたギヤとかみ合い駆動される。ジョイント3は、圧
縮バネ7によりフランジ2に圧接されている。またフラ
ンジ2にはジョイント3より回転駆動力を受け取る為の
突起部分aが形成されている。またジョイント3には該
突起部分aにかん合する凹部bが形成されている。ジョ
イント3は駆動ギヤ4と係合している。つまり、不図示
のメインモーターからの駆動力は、駆動ギヤ4へ伝達さ
れ、駆動ギヤ4が回転すればジョイント3も回動する。
ジョイント3は、バネ7によりフランジ2に圧接されて
いる為突起部aと凹部bとがかん合状態になっている為
像担持体ドラム1も回転する。フランジ2に形成されて
いる突起部aの回転駆動力を受ける面Cは、駆動力伝達
手段による駆動力を停止する停止手段としても機能し、
この面C(第2図参照)は斜めになっている。従って、
像担持体ドラム1の内部にトナーが多量に溜り回転負荷
が増大してくるとジョイント3は、フランジ2から離れ
る方向の力を受け、この力がバネ7の圧縮力より強くな
るようになり、フランジ2とジョイント3の係合状態が
遮断され、ジョイント3は空回転するようになる。つま
りフランジ2へは回転駆動力は伝達されず、像担持体ド
ラム1は回動しなくなる。またギヤ13も回動しない為、
搬送コイル8も回動せずトナーは搬送されなくなる。つ
まり像担持体ドラム1の内部空間へ、トナーも搬送され
なくなる。また、15はジョイント3が負荷の増大により
移動する経路内に配設されたマイクロスイッチであり、
ジョイント3の移動に伴うOFF状態からON状態になり、
操作部に配置されている、豆ランプもしくはLEDが点灯
し、トナーが像担持体ドラム1に満杯になったことを表
示する。
