る。(Prior Art) When an internal combustion engine (hereinafter referred to as “engine”) is stopped from an operating state, the fuel vapor evaporated from the carburetor fills the air cleaner, and the intake air drawn into the engine when the engine is restarted is excessively rich. In order to prevent the problem that it becomes difficult to restart and that the evaporated fuel filled in the air cleaner is released into the atmosphere through the air intake pipe of the air cleaner and causes environmental pollution, various types of air cleaners are used. The measures are taken. An example of an air cleaner provided with such measures is disclosed in Japanese Utility Model Laid-Open No. 59-54740. In the air cleaner described in this publication, an evaporated fuel adsorbing element made of a filter medium containing activated carbon fibers is arranged below an axial flow type filtration element dedicated to dust filtration, that is, on the side of the carburetor.

のである。(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) In the air cleaner described in the above publication, as described above, in addition to the filter element dedicated to dust filtration, the element for adsorbing fuel vapor is arranged in series. Therefore, there is a problem in that the size of the entire air cleaner, especially the size in the axial direction, becomes large, and the air cleaner cannot be stored in a narrow engine room of the vehicle. Further, since the two elements are used, not only the manufacturing cost is increased correspondingly, but also the resistance to the intake air flow is increased, and the acceleration performance of the engine is deteriorated. The present invention is intended to solve these problems.

Further, the inner peripheral edge of the dust filtering portion 4b is attached to the outer peripheral surface of the inner cylinder 2 while keeping the sealing property, and similarly, the outer peripheral edge of the evaporated fuel adsorbing portion 5b is sealed to the inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical portion 3b of the outer peripheral ring 3. It can be attached while maintaining its sex. Further, as shown in FIG. 6, the inner cylinder 2 and the outer peripheral ring 3 are connected by a plurality of radial ribs 7, and the edge portions (the first portion and the second portion) which are joined to each other when the filter media 4a and 5a are bent and formed into a ring shape. The fan-shaped end portions (shown in FIG. 2 and FIG. 4) are housed in the radial ribs 7 and the sealing property of the joint is maintained. The filter element 1 thus formed has a shape in which the inner cylinder 2 and the dust filter portion 4b are slightly higher than the evaporative fuel adsorption portion 5b and the outer peripheral ring 3. The outer peripheral ring 3 has an outer peripheral flange 3a.

Not done. That is, even though the fuel vapor has risen from the inside of the carburetor 10, it is not particularly light when compared with the air in the air cleaner when it enters the air cleaner. Filter element 1 as it tends to stagnant
Is adsorbed by the evaporative fuel adsorption portion 5b located in a low area of the dust filter, and the dust filtration portion 4b is not wetted by the fuel. Then, when the engine is restarted, the fuel adsorbed on the filter element is desorbed from the filter element and sucked into the engine through the carburetor, which contributes to resource saving.

In addition to the active carbon-containing area, the active carbon-free area for dust filtration is provided, so that the resistance to the intake air flow is small, so that the acceleration performance of the engine is improved. Further, since the fuel vapor tends to stagnant at a low position in the air cleaner, it is effectively adsorbed by the evaporative fuel adsorption region located at a low region, and the dust filtration region is not likely to get wet with fuel. It does not increase the resistance to the intake air flow. In addition, when the engine is restarted, the fuel adsorbed on the filter element is separated from the filter element and is sucked into the engine through the carburetor, which contributes to resource saving.

ント。1. An outer peripheral ring held by a case and a cap of an air cleaner, an inner cylinder located inside the outer peripheral ring, and a corrugated cross-sectional shape arranged between the outer peripheral ring and the inner cylinder. And a filtering portion made of a filter medium, wherein the intake air is allowed to pass through the filtering portion in the axial direction of the outer peripheral ring, wherein the filtering portion is the outer ring from the outer ring. It has a shape that gradually rises toward the inner cylinder, and the activated carbon-containing material for adsorbing the evaporated fuel is disposed in at least the area adjacent to the outer peripheral ring in the filtration portion, and the activated carbon-containing material is included. A filtration element, characterized in that the areas of the filtration section other than the area in which the material is arranged are made of an activated carbon-free material for performing dust filtration.
