Description of the Related Art Conventionally, as a warp sizing agent used in the production of long-fiber woven fabrics, polyvinyl alcohol or modified polyvinyl alcohol has been mainly used, and an oil agent or an auxiliary agent is appropriately added thereto or an acrylic copolymer. Aqueous solutions containing starch and starch are widely used in practice. However, such conventional fiber sizing agents often have insufficient adhesiveness, cannot completely prevent falling glue and fluffing, have low binding force, and have poor weavability. It was In order to solve such a drawback, the present applicant has a method of blending PVA with a saccharide (JP-A-52-81191) and a method of blending a low-saponifiable PVA with an anionic surfactant (JP-A-53-86890). Japanese Unexamined Patent Application Publication No. 54-16088), a method in which PVA that does not develop a cloud point is used in combination (JP-A-54-16088
No. 2) and a method using sulfonic acid-modified PVA and an organic acid alkali metal salt (Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 54-160883).

If the average degree of polymerization is less than 300, the strength of the sizing agent forming film will be weak,
If the amount of sizing agent exceeds 2,000, the viscosity of the sizing agent will increase and sizing cannot be performed. The average degree of polymerization is a value calculated from the intrinsic viscosity of an aqueous solution after completely saponifying the remaining acetic acid groups.

The hydroxy fatty acid having 5 or less carbon atoms cannot exert the effect of the present invention.
The hydroxy fatty acid is mixed in an amount of 0.1 to 20 parts by weight, preferably 0.1 to 5 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the PVA resin. If the mixing amount is less than 0.1 part by weight, the effect of the present invention cannot be exhibited, and if the mixing amount exceeds 20 parts by weight, the binding force is reduced and the weaving efficiency is poor.

It is melted and mixed by a kneader or the like. The order of blending is not particularly limited, and two kinds of resins may be blended at the same time, or one resin may be blended with the other resin. The melt mixing temperature is preferably about 120 to 180 ° C. In preparation of the paste solution, in addition to the above PVA and hydroxy fatty acids, other paste agents such as acrylic paste agent, starch,
Even if a polymer such as modified starch and carboxymethyl cellulose and various oil agents are used in combination, the above effect is not changed, and the effect may be further increased depending on the case.

Acrylic paste is an alkaline substance that neutralizes copolymers of hydrophobic monomers mainly composed of acrylic acid esters and methacrylic acid esters with ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids such as acrylic acid and methacrylic acid and sulfonic acids. To be water-soluble or water-dispersible. When used in combination with an acrylic sizing agent, it is most appropriate to select the compounding ratio so that the weight ratio of the PVA and the acrylic sizing agent is within the range of 95: 5 to 60:40. When the ratio of the above is too small, it is difficult to expect a synergistic effect due to the combined use.On the other hand, when the ratio of the acrylic sizing agent is too large, the adhesiveness of the sizing yarn becomes high, and the fallen glue gums up on the loom.
Further, warp threads are stuck by the warp beam, the open state is deteriorated, and the cost is disadvantageous.

The resin content concentration in the paste solution is usually controlled to 2 to 13% by weight. The sizing liquid thus prepared is used for sizing filament yarns, woolly processed yarns, spun yarns, etc., but it can be used not only as a warp sizing agent but also as a finishing agent for fiber products.
