2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, a laser beam has generally been treated as a Gaussian beam and has been restricted by its propagation characteristics. However, in recent years the depth of focus has been very deep,
A Bessel beam (or non-diffractive beam) is attracting attention as a laser beam having a small spot diameter.

In the figure, since the plane A 0 and the surface of the rotary drum D 0 are set in an optically substantially conjugate relationship, the Bessel beam is formed near the surface of the rotary drum D 0 . Since this Bessel beam has a very deep depth of focus as described above, for example, even if the optical system has a field curvature,
Alternatively, the beam spot diameter does not change even if the position of the rotary drum D 0 is slightly displaced in the optical axis direction, and thus a high-resolution optical scanning device is obtained.

As shown in FIG. 3, most of the side lobes S 1 to S N are formed by the slit member 7 by the slit member 7.
The light is shielded by the light-shielding portion 7b, and only the central spot S 0 and part of the side lobes S 1 to SN pass through the opening 7a of the slit member 7 and reach the surface to be scanned. As a result, an optical scanning device having an extremely high resolution is obtained. At this time, a part of the side lobes reach the surface to be scanned, but since the light intensity of the side lobes is extremely weak as described above, the image quality of the recorded image is hardly affected by the influence.

As described above, in this embodiment, the laser beam formed in the vicinity of the surface to be scanned is a non-diffractive beam (Bessel beam), and this non-diffractive beam has a very deep focal depth as described above. For example, even if the field curvature of the optical system is large or there is an error or variation in the arrangement position of the optical components, the image does not deteriorate, and a high-quality image can always be obtained.

Further, in the present embodiment, the Bessel beam is formed by using the axicon as a means for generating the Bessel beam, but the method is not limited to this forming method, and for example, it has an optical function equivalent to that of the pupil filter or the axicon. Further, in the present embodiment, the width of the slit member in the sub-scanning direction is made narrow so that only the central spot S 0 passes, but this width is adjusted to the sensitivity characteristics of the surface to be scanned, and the central spot S 0. It may be formed to have a wide width such that a plurality of diffraction rings pass through. In this case, the distance d between the slit member and the surface to be scanned can be set larger.

According to the present invention, when the Bessel beam is used to optically scan the surface to be scanned as described above, a large portion of the side lobe portion of the Bessel beam is provided in the vicinity of the surface to be scanned and has a predetermined shape. By effectively blocking light with a slit member having a portion, the surface to be scanned can be optically scanned with only a minute spot having a large depth of focus and a large light intensity, thereby improving the performance of the apparatus. It is possible to achieve an optical scanning device that can perform.

1. A laser beam emitted from a light source means is made into a Bessel beam in which side lobes are concentrically formed through a Bessel beam generating means, the Bessel beam is deflected by a deflecting means, and then an imaging optical system is formed. An optical scanning device that guides light onto a surface to be scanned through and optically scans the surface to be scanned, wherein a slit member having a longitudinal direction substantially aligned with the main scanning direction is arranged in the vicinity of the surface to be scanned, An optical scanning device, wherein a part of a side lobe portion of the Bessel beam is shielded by the slit member.
