Abstract

PURPOSE:To prepare the colloidal solution of carbon by using a carbon electrode for an anode, impressing DC voltage to perform electrolysis in an aqueous liquid medium and depositing colloid of carbon. CONSTITUTION:The colloidal solution of carbon is prepared by using an electrode made of carbon material for an anode, immersing the electrode in an aqueous liquid medium, impressing DC voltage to conduct electricity an depositing colloid of carbon in the liquid medium. A sheet-like or felt electrode made of carbon fiber is the most desirable as the carbon electrode. Such various forms are properly adopted that isolation material having insulation properties is held between the anode made of carbon fiber and a cathode and alternately piled up or the flexible isolation material having electrical insulating properties is held between the anode and the cathode similarly having flexibility and three layers are wound in a roll shape or the anode, the insulation material and the cathode are concentrically arranged. In any case, the anode and the cathode are preferably approached as near as possible. The colloidal solution of carbon is effective in deodorization, breeding control of miscellaneous bacteria, removal of slime and decomposition of agricultural chemicals, scale and organic substance.

2. Description of the Related Art Fine carbon powder has excellent characteristics as a filter and an adsorbent. As a method for pulverizing carbon, a physical pulverizing method, a vapor deposition method, a method of applying a high voltage to cause a spark discharge to disperse, and the like are all limited to a dry method, and the particle size is also limited. is there. The smaller the particle size, the better the adsorption capacity, but if the particle size is smaller, the powders will agglomerate and the original characteristics will not be exhibited. In order to use the particles dispersed in one another, it is better to suspend them in water. That is, it may be used in the form of a colloidal solution.

As a result of intensive studies, the present inventor has obtained the following findings. That is, when an electrode with a carbon material as an anode was immersed in a water-based liquid medium and a DC voltage was applied to gradually increase the voltage, carbon was extremely fine from the surface of the anode carbon at a certain voltage. It has been found that it becomes a fine powder and begins to disperse in the liquid medium. It has also been found that a carbon fiber sheet or felt-like one is most preferable as the carbon electrode. The present invention is based on such new knowledge.

The carbon colloid solution suspended in the aqueous liquid medium has the following effects. 1. Deodorization due to adsorption of odorous components such as ammonia. Bacterial growth control, decolorization by adsorption of pigment components, 1. Suppression of scale generation 3. Adsorption of pesticides dissolved in water In addition to the above, the active oxygen generated at the anode during the electrolysis process oxidizes and decomposes organic substances. As the carbon material for the electrode, a plate-like material, a fiber-like material, or any carbonaceous material can be used, but among them, a sheet-like material using carbon fiber or a felt-like material is most suitable. Carbon fibers are highly flexible and can be compactly stored, and have a large surface area, a large electrolysis area, and an effect that the reaction becomes more active. The structure of the carbon fiber electrode is such that an insulating separator is sandwiched between the negative electrode and the negative electrode, and the carbon fiber electrode has a flexible electrical insulating property between the negative electrode and a flexible negative electrode. It is possible to adopt various forms such as one in which three layers are wound in a roll shape with an insulating material sandwiched therebetween, or one in which an anode, a cathode, and an insulating material are concentrically arranged. Should be as close as possible.
The shorter the distance, the smaller the applied voltage. The applied voltage depends on the distance between the electrodes, and when it is about 0.5 mm, the tentative guideline is about 10 to 20 V. When the current becomes 0.5 Amperes or more, carbon powder begins to precipitate from the electrode surface. . When the current is small, there is no deposition of carbon powder from the electrodes. Only oxygen is generated. The material of the cathode electrode may be the same carbon material as the anode or a metal material such as stainless steel. There are no special restrictions.

The present invention will be described with reference to examples. Example 1 A carbon fiber sheet rolled into a diameter of about 10 cm was used as an anode, a resin mesh sheet was wrapped around the anode, and a stainless steel foil was wrapped around the outside of the mesh sheet and fixed. A carbon fiber anode and a resin net sheet were connected by lead wires, respectively, and immersed in a water tank to apply a DC voltage.
When the current was approximately 0.5 A, carbon fine powder was generated like smoke from the anode. Around 5A, a large amount began to be generated. A large amount of carbon colloid was suspended and suspended in water.
This carbon colloid solution had the following properties. 1. Deodorizing Ammonia water was added dropwise to the colloidal solution. The smell disappeared in the standing place. 2. Suppression of scale generation. An iron plate was immersed in the colloidal solution. No red rust was generated. By the way, red rust occurred on the entire surface in ordinary water. 3. Suppression of reproduction of various bacteria. The water from the bath used the night before was poured and electrolyzed to deposit colloid. Escherichia coli became zero. 4. Removal of slime from water Continuously circulating water in a bath where slime was generated and electrolyzed to deposit colloid. The slimy disappeared. 5. Decomposition of pesticide When the pesticide was added to the colloid solution and electrolysis was continued, the pesticide was decomposed. Example 2 The positive electrode and the negative electrode of Example 1 were replaced with each other for electrolysis. The colloid suspended in water was again adsorbed on the carbon electrode, and the water became transparent. The adsorbed carbon powder does not return to the original colloid at a weak current (0.1 A) when it is electrolyzed with the polarity changed again.
It re-precipitated as a colloid from around. Electrolysis with a current that does not cause re-precipitation of colloids has been confirmed to have effects of deodorization, suppression of bacterial growth, removal of slime, scales and decomposition of organic substances.
