本発明は、汚水中の汚泥、並びに溶解している汚染物質
を吸着し、通常の粉末活性炭とは異なる物理的形状によ
り繁殖する微生物が吸着汚泥を分解消滅する方法に関す
る。従来の微生物による汚水処理方法では、処理槽構成
物質自身に汚染物質を吸着する能力が小さい為、溶解性
汚染物質を含む汚水を浄化する目的を達成する為には、
処理槽内部での汚水の滞留時間を永くする必要があり、
処理槽自身が大きくなるか、汚水の流路が長くならざる
を得なかった。また、汚水を通じてから微生物が繁殖す
るまでに一定期間を要し、汚水通水当初、自然の状態で

定化される。上述の内容の如く、本活性炭を一定の大き
さの槽として汚水を通せば、溶解している物を含め、汚
染物質の殆ど大部分が速やかに吸着され、浄化水を短時
間で放流し、吸着された汚染物質は微生物によって分
解、消滅する。このことから、処理槽を非常に小型化す
ることが出来、安価で、しかも維持経費の掛からない汚
