[Related Art] In recent years, an optical endoscope (also referred to as a fiberscope) that transmits an optical image formed by an objective lens at a distal end portion of an insertion portion to a hand side by an image guide formed of a fiber bundle. Instead, the optical image formed by the objective lens is photoelectrically converted by a solid-state imaging device such as a charge-coupled device (hereinafter, referred to as a CCD), converted into an electric signal, and transmitted to the hand side. Electronic endoscopes (hereinafter, also referred to as electronic endoscopes or electronic scopes) that can be displayed on a monitor have come into practical use.

The electronic scope is currently used for the upper or lower digestive tract, and the one with a diameter of about 10φ is used. However, for example, an endoscope for bronchus usually requires a diameter of about 5φ or less, and in order to realize an electronic scope for bronchus (small diameter), an image pickup device with a small number of pixels must be used. I don't get.

In the case where the number of pixels is small, the light is illuminated in a plane-sequential manner with light of each wavelength of red, blue, and green, rather than a color imaging method using a color mosaic filter, in order to prevent a decrease in resolution. It is advantageous to use a frame-sequential color imaging system in which frame-sequential imaging is performed by using the above-described method, and these are combined and displayed in color. On the other hand, when the diameter can be made large and the number of pixels is large and sufficient resolution can be obtained, a mosaic color imaging method using a mosaic filter may be adopted.

By the way, one video processor 25a is for a frame sequential signal processing, and has a connector for a frame sequential signal.
The signal input to the signal input terminal of 12a is input to the frame-sequential process circuit 41a, and the signals imaged under the illumination light of each wavelength of R, G, B are color signals R, G, Output as B. Thus, the color signals R, G, B are respectively stored in the buffer 42a.
A three-primary-color signal RGB is output from the three-primary-color output terminal 43a via the driver formed in step (1). The chrominance signals R, G, B pass through a matrix circuit 44a to generate a luminance signal Y and chrominance signals RY, BY, which are then input to an NTSC encoder 45a and
The video signal is converted into a composite video signal of the C system and output from the NTSC output terminal 46a.

The color mosaic color process circuit 41b has a CCD1 amplified by a preamplifier 24 as shown in FIG. 9, for example.
The signal from 8 (or 22) passes through a luminance signal processing circuit 61 to generate a luminance signal Y. 1. A color-imaging device that uses a frame-sequential illumination light that sequentially generates illumination light of different colors in a time-division manner to perform color imaging and a white-light-based color mosaic filter to perform color imaging. A mosaic type scope, a light source device having a frame-sequential illumination light generating means for generating a frame-sequential illumination light and a white light generating means for generating a white light, and supplying a frame-sequential illumination light or white light to the both scopes An endoscope system having video signal processing means for performing signal processing for both the scopes and connection means capable of mounting the scopes, and identifying the scope or the video signal processing means connected to the light source device. Means, and the field sequential illumination light generating means and the white light generating means are selectively switched based on the identified content to output the light from the light source device to the field sequential illumination light or the white light. The endoscope system characterized by comprising: an illumination light switching means for switching the light.
