This is performed by a so-called foil stamping process, which is performed by stacking a sheet of a material to be the cover of the book and applying heat with a heater. Such a conventional method for foil-pressing the cover of a book requires a large amount of metal type characters and requires manual and skillful manipulating and typesetting, which is a very special work and costly. However, since there is no alternative method to such a conventional method, the conventional method is still used.

After printing, the cover material on which the characters are printed is overlaid with a sheet of foil having excellent adhesiveness with toner, and these are heated and pressed to adhere the foil, and then the excess foil sheet is removed. It consists of steps.

が適当である。The principle of the present invention is that the printed toner is melted by heat and the metal foil or pigment deposited on the polyester film is adhered by heat and pressure. Therefore, the heating temperature must be higher than the temperature at which the toner melts. However, if the heating temperature is too high, the characters may be distorted, so it is necessary to control the heating temperature to an appropriate level. About 140 ° C
Is appropriate.

Further, it is most preferable that the base material of the cover material is flat, and in the case of the grain surface, it is sufficient if there is some unevenness such that the toner image is clearly printed, but it is not preferable that it has severe unevenness.

In FIG. 1, reference numeral 1 denotes a character image forming unit to be printed, and an image of characters to be printed is formed on a screen by operating a keyboard, and the character image formed on the screen is output as an image electric signal. can do. The image electric signal from the character image forming unit 1 is supplied to the character printing unit 2. The character printing unit 2 is composed of a laser printer, and receives the image electric signal from the character image forming unit 1 to print characters by toner on the sheet 3 of the material as the cover. Cover sheet 4 with text printed with toner
Further, the foil sheet 5 is arranged so that its printed surface is adjacent to the foil.
And is passed through the foil bonding portion 6. The foil bonding portion 6 includes two heating rollers inside. When the laminated foil sheet 5 and cover sheet 4 are passed through the foil bonding portion 6, they are heated and pressed so that the foil is bonded only to the portion where the characters are printed.
When the cover sheet and the foil sheet coming out from the foil bonding portion are peeled off, the foil is bonded only to the portion where the characters are printed, and the other portions are not bonded. In this way, the same foil characters as the conventional foil stamping are printed on the front sheet of the book.
