Description
Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.ホストガラス及び該ホストガラス組成に基づいて0.001ないし4重量% の、蛍光またはレイジング活性を支持しうる活性ドーパントからなり、該活性ド ーパントは、In及びYの少なくとも1種のハロゲン化物及び少なくとも1種の アルカリ金属ハロゲン化物を含有する、蛍光及びレイジング特性を有するハロゲ ン化物ガラス組成物であって、 (i)In及びYのハロゲン化物の合計量が1〜10%であり、ただし該組 成物はアルミニウムハロゲン化物を含んでいてもよいが0.2%未満の濃度であ り、かつ (ii)アルカリ金属ハロゲン化物の合計量が10〜39%であることを特徴 とし、 すべてのパーセント(レイジングドーパントのパーセントを除く)は総ホストガ ラス組成に基づくモルパーセントであるハロゲン化物ガラス組成物。 2.アイテム(ii)が複数の異なるアルカリ金属ハロゲン化物のそれぞれの少な くとも1%からなり、該ハロゲン化物はアルカリ金属から誘導され、該アルカリ 金属はNa,Cs及びLiから選ばれる請求項1記載のガラス組成物。 3.アルミニウムの量が実質的にゼロであり、組成物が少なくとも1%のインジ ウムハロゲン化物及び少なくとも1%のイットリウムハロゲンか物を含有する請 求項1又は2記載のガラス組成物。 4.上記アルカリ金属、Al,In及びYに加えて、少なくとも40%のジルコ ニウムハロゲン化物、少なくとも10% のバリウムハロゲン化物、及び少なくとも2%のランタンハロゲン化物を含有す る請求項1ないし3のいずれか1項記載のガラス組成物。 5.活性ドーパントが希土類の3価のイオンである請求項1ないし4のいずれか 1項記載のガラス組成物。 6.活性ドーパントがPr3+であり、その濃度が0.001ないし0.1wt% である請求項1ないし5のいずれか1項記載のガラス組成物。 7.鉛、ハフニウム及びトリウムの少なくとも1種のハロゲン化物をさらに含有 する請求項1ないし6のいずれか1項記載のガラス組成物。 8.ハロゲン化物分が、全体にフッ化物及び塩化物からなり、塩化物含有率が全 組成物に基づいて10重量%未満である請求項1ないし7のいずれか1項記載の ガラス組成物。 9.ハロゲン化物分がすべてフッ化物である請求項8記載のガラス組成物。 10.ホストガラスが、 α % ZrF4 β % BaF4 γ % CaF3 δ % PbF2 φ % HfF4 ψ % LiF θ % LsF ω % NaF λ % AlF3 μ % YF3 π % InF3 (ここで、以下の表に示した表現のそれぞれが指摘されている最小ないし最大の 間にある: MIN MAX 60 α+β+γ+δ+φ 90 45 α+φ 90 45 α+δ 90 10 ψ+θ+ω 39 2:1 (ψ+θ):ω 1:2 1 λ+μ+π 10 0 λ 1 0:10 λ:(μ+π) 1:10)からなる請求項9記載の組 成物。 11.ψ、θ及びωのうち少なくとも2つが5より大きき請求項10記載の組成 物。 12.ψ、θ及びωのそれぞれが3より大きき請求項10記載の組成物。 13.μ及びπのそれぞれが1より大きい請求項10、11又は12記載の組成 物。 14. αが45より大きく、55より小さい請求項10ないし13のいずれか 1項記載の組成物。 15.ξ=0である請求項10ないし14のいずれか1項記載の組成物。 16.ホストガラス及び該ホストガラス組成に基づいて0.001ないし4重量 %のPr3+からなり、該ホストガラスはZr、Ba、La、Y、In、Cs及び Naのハロゲン化物を含有し、ただし以下の条件 (i)組成物はアルミニウムを含有しないこと、及び (ii)ハロゲン化物物がホストガラス組成に基づいて1ないし5重量%の塩 化物として提供され、ハロゲン化物の残りがフッ化物として提供されること に従う、蛍光及びレイジング特性を有するフルオロクロロジルコネートガラス組 成物。 17.塩化物含有率が、3ないし4重量%である請求項16記載の組成物。 18.モル比In:Yが2:3ないし3:2の範囲内にある請求項16又は17 記載の組成物。 19.モル比Na:Csが5:1ないし1:3の範囲内にある請求項16ないし 18のいずれか1項記載の組成物。 20.Hf及びLiのハロゲン化物から選ばれる少なくとも1種のハロゲン化物 をさらに含有する請求項16ないし19のいずれか1項記載の組成物。 21.記述した元素のハロゲン化物をのみ含有する請求項16ないし20のいず れか1項記載の組成物。 22.コアが請求項1ないし21のいずれか1項記載のガラス組成物で作られて いる繊維導波路。 23.請求項22記載の導波路、該導波路を接続して減衰した光学信号を受け取 るため、前進伝送のための入力ポート、 及びレイジング活性により光学的増幅を維持するためのパワーを提供するように コア中にポンプ放射を提供するためのポンプを包含する光学増幅器。 24.1300nmの公称波長で遠隔通信信号を増幅する方法であって、請求項 1ないし21のいずれか1項記載のガラス組成物中に該信号を提供し、同時に、 1020nmの公称波長でのポンプ放射を該ガラス組成物中に提供し、それによ り該ポンプ放射が該Pr3+を反転状態に励起してより多いフォトンを発生させ、 それにより該信号を増幅する、遠隔信号の増幅方法。
