- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.式: (クロモゲン)(SO3M)n (式中、クロモゲンは色素が安定な液晶相で存在することができるものであり、 Mはカチオンである。)の水溶性有機色素を含む二色偏光子であって、前記色素 は、光が色素を通過すると光を色素が偏光できるように所定の方向に配向された 粒子に凝集されている分子を含む、二色偏光子。 2.前記色素が式 (式中、R1=HまたはClであり; R=H、Alk、ArNHまたはArCONHであり; Alkはアルキル基であり; Arは置換または無置換アリール基である。)を有する請求の範囲1記載の二色 偏光子。 3.Alkが1〜4個の炭素原子を有するアルキル基である請求の範囲2記載 の二色偏光子。 4.AlkがCH3およびC2H5のいずれかである請求の範囲 3記載の二色偏光子。 5.Arが置換または無置換フェニル基である請求の範囲2、3または4記載 の二色偏光子。 6.ArがC6H5、4−ClC6H4のいずれかである請求の範囲5記載の二色 偏光子。 7.色素が式 (式中、RはH、アルキル基、ハロゲンまたはアルコキシ基であり; Arは置換または無置換アリール基であり;そしてn=2または3である。)を 有する請求の範囲1記載の二色偏光子。 8.色素が式 (式中、RはH、アルキル基、ハロゲンまたはアルコキシ基であり: Arは置換または無置換アリール基であり;そして nは2または3である。)を有する請求の範囲1記載の二色偏光子。 9.色素が式 (式中、RはH、アルキル基、ハロゲンまたはアルコキシ基であり; Arは置換または無置換アリール基であり;そして nは2または3である。)を有する請求の範囲1記載の二色偏光子。 10.色素が式 (式中、nは3、4または5である。)を有する請求の範囲1記載の二色偏光子 。 11.色素が式 を有する請求の範囲1記載の二色偏光子。 12.色素が式 を有する請求の範囲1記載の二色偏光子。 13.RがHであるかまたは1〜4個の炭素原子を有するアルキ ル基であるか;または1〜2個の炭素原子を有するアルコキシ基であるか;Br であるか、またはClである請求の範囲7、8または9のいずれか1項記載の二 色偏光子。 14.RがCH3またはC2H5である請求の範囲13記載の二色偏光子。 15.R=CH3Oである請求の範囲13記載の二色偏光子。 16.Arが置換または無置換フェニル基である請求の範囲7〜9または13 〜15のいずれか1項記載の二色偏光子。 17.RがC6H5、4−CH3OC6H4、4−C2H5OC6H4、4−ClC6H4 、4−C4H9C6H4、または3−CH3C6H4である請求の範囲16記載の二色 偏光子。 18.MがH+、第一族金属またはNH4 +である請求の範囲1〜17記載の二 色偏光子。 19.MがH+、Li+、Na+、K+、Cs+またはNH4 +である請求の範囲1 8記載の二色偏光子。 20.光偏光素子を製造する方法であって、前記方法は、支持体表面上に色素 溶液を形成すること、ここで、前記色素は液晶状態である; 通過する光を偏光できるように所定の方向に前記色素の分子または超分子複合 体を配向力により配向させること、 前記配向力を除去すること、ここで、前記分子または超分子複合体が配向した ままであり、且つ、色素が液晶状態のままである、および 前記色素分子または超分子複合体が配向したままでありながら前記溶液から溶 剤を蒸発させること、 の工程を含む方法。 21.前記配向力が剪断力である請求の範囲20記載の方法。 22.前記剪断力が支持体表面に対して移動しているドクターにより適用され 、前記ドクターが溶液と接触している請求の範囲21記載の方法。 23.前記配向工程が、色素溶液と接触している支持体表面の別の表面からの V字型分離の間の色素溶液のメニスカスにおける張力歪み工程を含む請求の範囲 20記載の方法。 24.前記支持体が柔軟フィルムであり、もう一方の表面が別の柔軟フィルム であり、そして前記メニスカスにおける前記張力歪みが2枚の柔軟フィルムが互 いに分離されるときに作られる請求の範囲23記載の方法。 25.前記支持体表面が剛性の表面を有し、そしてもう一方の表面が柔軟フィ ルム表面である請求の範囲23記載の方法。 26.前記もう一方の表面が前記支持体表面に対して回転しているシリンダー の表面である請求の範囲23記載の方法。
