Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.ソフトウェア出版社が、ソフトウェア担体からどのビデオ標準を回復でき るかを制御できるようにするシステムであって、それぞれ、ソフトウェア担体を 再生してそのソフトウェア担体からビデオ・ソース情報を導き、選択されたビデ オ標準に従って前記ビデオ・ソース情報からビデオ信号を生成する、複数の再生 装置と、それぞれ、ビデオ・ソース情報と、ソフトウェア出版社によってその担 体に認定されたビデオ標準との両方を表す、複数のソフトウェア担体とを備え、 前記各再生装置が、選択されたビデオ標準が、再生中のソフトウェア担体に認定 されたビデオ標準に含まれる場合にのみ、前記選択されたビデオ標準に従ったビ デオ信号の生成をイネーブルする手段を含むことを特徴とするシステム。 2.さらに、再生装置のユーザが、選択されたビデオ標準を選択できるように する手段を各再生装置に含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。 3.ソフトウェア出版社が、ソフトウェア担体からどのビデオ標準を回復でき るかを制御できるようにする再生装置であって、ソフトウェア担体を再生してそ のソフトウェア担体からビデオ・ソース情報を導く手段と、選択されたビデオ標 準に従って前記ビデオ・ソース情報からビデオ信号を生成する手段と、再生中の ソフトウェア担体上に含まれるデータから、ソフトウェア出版社によってその担 体に認定されたビデオ標準を判定する手段と、選択されたビデオ標準が、そのソ フトウェア担体に認定されたビデオ標準に含まれる場合にのみ、前記選択された ビデオ標準に従ったビデオ信号の生成をイネーブルする手段とを含むことを特徴 とする再生装置。 4.さらに、再生装置のユーザが、選択されたビデオ標準を選択できるように する手段を含むことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の再生装置。 5.ソフトウェア出版社が、ソフトウェア担体からどのビデオ標準を回復でき るかを制御できるようにするソフトウェア担体であって、選択されたビデオ標準 に従ってソフトウェア担体上のビデオ・ソース情報からビデオ信号を導く再生装 置で再生することができ、ビデオ・ソース情報と、ソフトウェア出版社によって その担体に認定されたビデオ標準との両方を表し、それによって、前記ソフトウ ェ ア担体から、認定されたビデオ標準を判定する再生装置が、選択されたビデオ標 準がそのソフトウェア担体に認定されたビデオ標準に含まれる場合にのみ、前記 選択されたビデオ標準に従ってビデオ信号を生成することをイネーブルされるこ とを特徴とするソフトウェア担体。 6.ソフトウェア出版社が、そのソフトウェア担体を再生できる販売区域を制 御できるようにするシステムであって、それぞれ、ソフトウェア担体を再生して そのソフトウェア担体からビデオ・ソース情報を導き、前記ソース情報から再生 信号を生成し、その再生装置が使用される販売区域を表す、複数の再生装置と、 それぞれ、ビデオ・ソース情報と、ソフトウェア出版社によってその担体に認定 された販売区域との両方を表す、複数のソフトウェア担体とを備え、前記各再生 装置が、前記表された販売区域が、再生中のソフトウェア担体に認定された販売 区域に含まれる場合にのみ、再生信号の生成をイネーブルする手段を含むことを 特徴とするシステム。 7.ソフトウェア出版社が、そのソフトウェア担体を再生できる販売区域を制 御できるようにする再生装置であって、ソフトウェア担体を再生してそのソフト ウェア担体からビデオ・ソース情報を導く手段と、前記ソース情報から再生信号 を生成する手段と、その再生装置が使用される販売区域を表す手段と、再生中の ソフトウェア担体上に含まれるデータから、ソフトウェア出版社によってその担 体に認定された販売区域を判定する手段と、前記表された販売区域が、そのソフ トウェア担体に認定された販売区域に含まれる場合にのみ、前記再生信号の生成 をイネーブルする手段とを含むことを特徴とする再生装置。 8.ソフトウェア出版社が、そのソフトウェア担体を再生できる販売区域を制 御できるようにするソフトウェア担体であって、ソフトウェア担体上のソース情 報から再生信号を導く再生装置で再生することができ、前記再生装置が、特定の 販売区域で使用すべきものであり、前記ソフトウェア担体が、ビデオ・ソース情 報と、ソフトウェア出版社によってその担体に認定された販売区域との両方を表 し、それによって、前記ソフトウェア担体から、認定された販売区域を判定する 再生装置が、前記特定の販売区域がそのソフトウェア担体に認定された販売区域 に含まれる場合にのみ、再生信号の生成をイネーブルされる手段とを含むことを 特徴とするソフトウェア担体。 9.ソフトウェア出版社が、そのソフトウェア担体がどこで再生できるかを制 御できるようにするシステムであって、それぞれ、ソフトウェア担体を再生して そのソフトウェア担体からソース情報を導き、前記ソース情報から再生信号を生 成し、その再生装置をどこで使用すべきかを示すコードを表す、複数の再生装置 と、それぞれ、ソース情報と、ソフトウェア出版社によってその担体の再生がど こで認定されているかを示すコードとの両方を表す、複数のソフトウェア担体と を備え、前記各再生装置が、再生装置に表されたコードと再生中のソフトウェア 担体上のコードとが合致した場合にのみ、再生信号の生成をイネーブルする手段 を含むことを特徴とするシステム。 10.ソフトウェア出版社が、そのソフトウェア担体がどこで再生できるかを 制御できるようにする再生装置であって、ソフトウェア担体を再生してそのソフ トウェア担体からソース情報を導く手段と、前記ソース情報から再生信号を生成 する手段と、その再生装置をどこで使用すべきかを示すコードを表す手段と、再 生中のソフトウェア担体上に表されたコードから、ソフトウェア出版社によって その担体の再生がどこで認定されているかを判定する手段と、表された再生装置 コードが、再生中のソフトウェア担体上に表されたコードに合致した場合にのみ 、前記再生信号の生成をイネーブルする手段とを含むことを特徴とする再生装置 。 11.ソフトウェア出版社が、そのソフトウェア担体がどこで再生できるかを 制御できるようにするソフトウェア担体であって、再生装置をどこで使用すべき かを示すコードを表す手段とソフトウェア担体上のソース情報から再生信号を導 く手段とを含む再生装置で再生することができ、ソース情報と、ソフトウェア出 版社によってその担体の再生がどこで認定されているかを示すコードとの両方を 表し、それによって、再生装置が、表された再生装置コードが再生中のソフトウ ェア担体上に表されたコードに合致した場合にのみ、前記再生信号の生成をイネ ーブルされることを特徴とするソフトウェア担体。 12.ソフトウェア出版社が、そのソフトウェア担体がどこで再生できるかを 制御できるようにする方法であって、それぞれ、ソフトウェア担体を再生してそ のソフトウェア担体からソース情報を導き、前記ソース情報から再生信号を生成 し、その再生装置をどこで使用すべきかを示すコードを表す、複数の再生装置を 、ソフトウェア担体の再生のために供給するステップと、ソフトウェア出版社に よってその担体の再生がどこで認定されているかを示すコードを各ソフトウェア 担体上に提供するステップとを含み、前記各再生装置が、再生装置に表されたコ ードと再生中のソフトウェア担体上のコードとが合致した場合にのみ再生信号を 生成するようになされることを特徴とする方法。 13.ソフトウェア出版社が、そのソフトウェア担体がどこで再生できるかを 判定できるように再生装置を制御する方法であって、ソフトウェア担体を再生し てそのソフトウェア担体からソース情報を導くステップと、前記ソース情報から 再生信号を生成するステップと、その再生装置をどこで使用すべきかを示すコー ドを表すステップと、再生中のソフトウェア担体上に表されたコードから、ソフ トウェア出版社によってその担体の再生がどこで認定されているかを判定するス テップと、表された再生装置コードが、再生中のソフトウェア担体上に表された コードに合致した場合にのみ、前記再生信号の生成をイネーブルするステップと を含むことを特徴とする方法。 14.ソフトウェア出版社が、そのソフトウェア担体がどこで再生できるかを 制御できるようにする情報をソフトウェア担体上に表す方法であって、前記ソフ トウェア担体が、再生装置をどこで使用すべきかを示すコードを表す手段とソフ トウェア担体上のソース情報から再生信号を導く手段とを含む再生装置で再生す ることができ、前記方法が、ソース情報と、ソフトウェア出版社によってその担 体の再生がどこで認定されているかを示すコードとの両方を前記ソフトウェア担 体上に表すステップを含み、それによって、再生装置が、表された再生装置コー ドが再生中のソフトウェア担体上に表されたコードに合致した場合にのみ、前記 再生信号の生成をイネーブルされることを特徴とする方法。
