Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve combustion efficiency by extending top lands on both side parts of a piston upward. CONSTITUTION: A piston 3 in an engine is formed into a shape wherein top lands 1 on both sides of the piston project upward from a head gasket in the top dead center by extending the top lands 1 on the part upward in order to eliminate recessed parts on both sides of the piston. Moreover, a combustion chamber 4 is so formed as to match the shape of the piston 3. In the piston 3 including a cylinder, the front surface area on the combustion chamber is decreased, so as to improve combustion efficiency. Moreover, combustion pressure can be efficiently converted to axial output by decreasing gas leakage from the recessed parts on both sides of the piston.

のである。 (ロ)従来の技術 ピストンのトップランドの上端は、リセスにより切り
欠きが出来てしまう場合を除きピストン全周において同
一面上にある。 ピストンの燃焼室側表面積を小さくすると燃焼効率は
向上する。 ピストンの周囲からの燃焼ガスの漏れを少なくする
と、出力は向上する。 (ハ)発明が解決しようとする問題点 従来の技術によるピストン形状は、ピストン単体で見
ると凸凹は少ないが、シリンダーを含めて考えると圧縮
比を上げる為にピストン中央部を凸形状にした場合には
ピストン両サイド部に凹部(2)が出来て、燃焼効率を
悪化させる原因になっている(第3図)。 ピストン両サイドの凹部(2)から燃焼ガスが漏れ
て、ブローバイガスになりやすい(第3図)。 (ニ)問題点を解決するための手段 ピストン両サイドの凹部(2)を無くす為に、その部
分のトップランド(1)を上方に延長する。 ピストン両サイドのトップランド(1)は上死点時、
ヘッドガスケットより上方に突き出た形状となる。 燃焼室(4)をピストン形状に合わせた形状にする。 (ホ)作用 シリンダーを含めて考えたピストン形状は燃焼室側の
表面積が小さくなり、燃焼効率が向上する。 ピストン両サイドの凹部(2)からのガス漏れが、本
発明の形状(1)にする事により少なくなるので、燃焼
圧力を軸出力に効率良く変換出来る。
