Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modular jack which prevents cross-talk without providing a solid crossing part. SOLUTION: Eight-pole contact parts 1 are connected to terminal parts 3 via connection portions 3, respectively. The base part of each contact part 1 with No.1, No.4, or No.8 is positioned on the terminal parts 3 side rather than at the base part of the other contact part 1. In addition, the contact parts 1 with No.1, No.3, and No.5 are arranged so as to be close to the contact parts 1 with No.4, No.6, and No.8, respectively. Therefore, in each pair other than the pair with No.3 and No.6, the contact parts 1 and the connection portions 3 are replaced in horizontal list order, the cross-talk current in the opposite phase to that generated in a modular plug is generated, and the cross-talk current can be neutralized. Moreover, the scale of the cross-talk current can be optimized depending upon the close arrangement of the connection portion 3.

2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, the amount of information to be transmitted has dramatically increased in the field of telecommunications, so that high-speed signal transmission is required. Since it is necessary to use a high-frequency signal for high-speed transmission, the amount of crosstalk between signal lines due to electrostatic coupling becomes large. That is, in order to prevent deterioration of signal quality, it is necessary to reduce the crosstalk amount, and in order to perform high-speed signal transmission, not only the signal line but also the modular jack can be prevented. Required.

By the way, a modular jack generally used for communication has a modular plug inserted therein, and has a contact portion connected to each other, a terminal portion for connecting an external electric wire (signal line), a contact portion and a terminal portion. The connection part that connects and inside is formed of a conductor,
These conductors have portions arranged in parallel with each other in one plane. In such a parallel portion, the crosstalk current flows because the capacitive components between the conductors that transmit other signals to each other become unbalanced. Further, since the signal type allocation and the positional relationship are fixedly determined by the standard in the contact section, there is a problem that the degree of freedom in design is low and it is difficult to reduce crosstalk in the contact section.

Therefore, in this type of modular jack, it is considered to arrange the connecting portion so that the crosstalk between the two terminal portions is reduced in the state where the modular plug is inserted. In this case, the modular plug is smaller in size than the modular jack and it is difficult to change the arrangement of the connecting portion, so it is common to devise the arrangement of the connecting portion in the modular jack to improve the crosstalk characteristics. is there. Further, as described above, there is a restriction on the arrangement of the contact portion, and the degree of freedom in the arrangement of the terminal portion is also low. Therefore, attempts have been made to reduce crosstalk due to the arrangement relationship of the connection portions.

For example, the electric connector shown in FIG. 6 of Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 6-84562 is an 8-pole modular jack, and a terminal for connecting an external electric wire with a contact portion 1 that contacts a contact portion of a modular plug. It has a configuration in which a part of the connection part 3 provided between the part 2 and the part 2 is three-dimensionally crossed. Specifically, when the contact parts 1 are numbered from the front (left side of the figure),
The connecting portions 3 connected to the contact portions 1 of each pair cross each other. The main purpose of this configuration is to prevent crosstalk between pairs of pairs.

By the way, in the above-mentioned structure, since a part of the connecting portions 3 arranged substantially on one plane are crossed over, one of the connecting portions 3 crossing over the other side. It is necessary to bend the connecting portion 3 so as to have a straddling shape. Further, since there is a vertical relationship between the connecting portions 3 at the intersecting portions, there are restrictions on the assembly order.

According to the above construction, the base portions of the contact portions of Nos. 1, 4, and 8 are arranged closer to the terminal portion than the base portions of the other contact portions, and the contact portions of Nos. 1, 3, and 5 are arranged. By arranging at least two of the connecting portions or at least two of the connecting portions of Nos. 4, 6 and 8 to be close to each other, except for the pair of No. 3 and No. 6, The arrangement of the contact portions and the arrangement of the connecting portions, which are paired with each other, are in reverse order. As a result, a crosstalk current having a phase opposite to that of the crosstalk current generated in the modular plug is generated, and when the modular plug is connected, the crosstalk currents cancel each other out to reduce the crosstalk amount. And one
Since at least two of the connecting parts of the No. 3, No. 3 and No. 5 or at least two of the connecting parts of the No. 4, No. 6 and No. 8 are close to each other, the crosstalk current generated in the modular plug The magnitude of the antiphase crosstalk current can be set so as to cancel. Further, since the arrangement relationship between the contact portion and the connecting portion can be exchanged without causing the connecting portion to cross over, bending processing is not required for the connecting portion, and further, assembling order is restricted by not crossing over. Absent. That is, the manufacturing process is easy because no bending work is required, and the assembly work is easy because there is no restriction on the assembly order.

A connection recess 14 is formed in the connection base 10a, and an opening surface of the connection recess 14 serves as a plug insertion port 11. A modular plug is inserted into the connection recess 14 through the plug insertion port 11, and a plurality of contact parts 1 (here, 8) are elastically contacted with the contact parts provided on the modular plug to be electrically connected. Are arranged parallel to each other in the connection recess 14. Each contact portion 1 is a linear spring, and is arranged so as to project rearward and upward from the front end portion of the connection recess 14. Also,
A plurality of terminal portions 2 electrically connected to the respective contact portions 1 are erected on the terminal base 10b. Each terminal portion 2 includes a plate-shaped terminal piece 2a (see FIG. 2).
Pressure contact slits 2b each having an open upper end are formed in a. As is well known, this terminal piece 2a cuts the insulation coating on both side edges of the pressure welding slit 2b by press-fitting an electric wire coated with the insulation into the pressure welding slit 2b from the upper end, and at the same time, the core wire is pressed between both side edges of the pressure welding slit 2b. It is sandwiched between.

By the way, the wiring allocation of the contact portion 1 is defined in ANSI / EIA / TIA-568 (commercial building communication wiring standard), and as shown in FIG. When the part 1 is arranged so as to project from the top to the bottom, terminal numbers are assigned in the order of from left to right. At this time, the color code of the electric wire electrically connected to each contact part 1 is defined as follows. To be done. In other words, white-orange, orange, white-
Green, blue, white-blue, green, white-brown, and brown (white-X (X: orange, green, blue, brown) are colored in two colors, white and X, over the entire length. Represents that).
The electric wire connected to the terminal portion 2 is a twisted pair wire, and the connection relation is defined so that the contact portions 1 ,,, and are paired. That is, a pair of twisted-pair wires is a wire in which the insulating coating is a single color and a white ground wire in which the insulating coating is white and two colors of other colors are twisted together. The colors that are not the same are adopted as the colors of the pair of color lines. For example, when the white line has two colors, white and green, the color line is paired with green. In addition to such color code specifications for electric wires, the near-end crosstalk amount between pairs of wires is also specified.

Here, since the pair of is to be arranged between the pair of, if the connecting portion 3 is formed on one plane, it is formed by the capacitance component between each connecting portion 3. The bridge circuit becomes unbalanced. That is, the crosstalk current easily flows between the pair and the pair, and the crosstalk current increases especially when the frequency of the signal becomes high. Also, for other pairs, the crosstalk amount increases as the frequency increases.

However, in the present invention, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the base portions of the contact portions 1 are arranged in two rows in front and rear. That is, the base of the contact part 1 is in the rear row, and the bases of the remaining contact parts 1 are in the front row. Further, the base portions of the contact portions () 1 in the front row are connected to the connecting portion 3 via the detour portions 4 passing in front of the contact portions () 1 in the rear row that are paired with each other.
Here, the extension direction of the contact portion 1 and the extension direction of the connection portion 3 intersect (see FIG. 2). Therefore,
The contact portion 1 and the connection portion 3 can be arranged in the left and right in reverse order without crossing over. That is, as described above, the contact portions 1 are sequentially numbered from left to right in FIG. 1, while the connection portions 3 are arranged in the order of, and the detour portion 4 is provided for each pair of. Since the contact portions 1 and the connection portions 3 are provided, the order of arrangement on the left and right sides is reversed. Therefore, in each of these pairs, the relationship between the left and right arrangement of the contact portions of the modular plug that is the mating connector that contacts the contact portion 1 and the left and right arrangement of the connection portions 3 of the modular jack can be reversed. As a result, when the mating connector is connected to the modular jack, an unbalanced current of opposite phase to the unbalanced current generated in the mating connector is generated in the modular jack, and the unbalanced currents of the two cancel each other out, resulting in crosstalk. The quantity is reduced.

The connecting portion 3 connected to the contact portion 1 and the connecting portion 3 connected to the contact portion 1 are arranged close to each other. This makes it possible to set the distance of the connecting portion 3 in each pair of and to be approximately equal to the distance of the connecting portion 3 in the pair of. By arranging the connection portions 3 in such a manner that they are appropriately close to each other, the magnitude of the crosstalk current generated in the modular jack can be made substantially equal to the magnitude of the crosstalk current generated in the modular plug, and the crosstalk amount is further reduced. be able to.

By the way, in the present embodiment, FIG.
As shown in (b), the connecting portion 3 for electrically connecting the contact portion 1 and the terminal portion 2 is arranged in three layers, and the connecting portion 3
The shape of is different from the conventional one. The contact portion 1, the terminal portion 2, and the connection portion 3 are continuously formed integrally in a lead frame shape by punching out a metal plate (alloy) having a thickness of about 0.4 mm having elasticity, and the connection portion 3 is in the same layer. The contact portion 1, the terminal portion 2, and the connecting portion 3 arranged at are formed by punching out a single metal plate.

The metal plate punched and formed in the above-described shape is mounted on the base 10 so that the three layers are sequentially stacked. Further, the contact portion 1 is bent before being attached to the base 10. The pattern formed on the metal plate is formed so as not to intersect with each other when the contact portion 1 and the terminal portion 2 are bent. That is, the contact portion 1, the terminal portion 2, and the connecting portion 3 have no crossover portion regardless of whether they are viewed from above or from the front (right side) of FIG. 2, and the metal plates are stacked in consideration of crosstalk characteristics. There is no restriction on the stacking order other than setting the order. As described above, since the bending process for changing the arrangement order of the conductor portions is not required, the manufacturing is facilitated. Moreover, by arranging the connecting portions 3 so as to be displaced in the thickness direction of the base 10, the degree of freedom in designing the distance between conductors and the dimensions is increased, and the capacitance component between each pair of connecting portions 3 is increased. It is possible to achieve almost equilibrium and further reduce the amount of crosstalk. That is, the arrangement order of the contact portion 1 and the connection portion 3 is changed, and the connection portion 3 is three-dimensionally arranged, and crosstalk is prevented by appropriately setting the interval and length between these conductors. It will be possible.

Further, the terminal portions 2 are arranged in two rows in front and rear as is clear from FIG. That is, each two terminal portions 2 forming a pair are arranged in the front and rear. By arranging in this way, the front and rear terminal cormorants 2 can partially overlap in the left-right direction, and therefore, compared to the case where the terminal portions 2 are arranged in one row, the left and right spaces of the terminal portions 2 are arranged. The width can be narrowed, and as a result, the width of the modular jack can be narrowed. Further, the front and rear terminal pieces 2a may be separated from each other so that an insulation distance can be secured, and since each terminal piece 2a has a small thickness, the size of the base 10 in the front and rear direction is large even if they are arranged in two rows. Never increases.

According to the present invention, eight contact portions arranged substantially parallel to each other so as to make electrical contact with a contact portion of a modular plug, eight terminal portions connected to an external electric wire, and a contact portion. Of eight connecting portions extending in a direction intersecting with the extending direction of the connecting portion and electrically connecting each corresponding contact portion and each terminal portion, and an insulating material holding the contact portion, the terminal portion and the connecting portion. And the bases of the contact portions of Nos. 1, 4, and 8 are arranged closer to the terminal portion than the bases of the other contact portions, and Nos. 1 and 3 are provided.
Since at least two of the connecting portions of No. 5 and No. 5 or at least two of the connecting portions of No. 4, No. 6 and No. 8 are arranged close to each other, Except for the pair, the arrangement of the contact portions and the arrangement of the connecting portions, which are paired with each other, are in the reverse order, which causes a crosstalk current whose phase is opposite to that of the crosstalk current generated in the modular plug, With the modular plug connected, the crosstalk currents cancel each other out, which has the advantage of reducing the amount of crosstalk. Moreover, since at least two of the connecting portions of Nos. 1, 3 and 5 or at least two of the connecting portions of Nos. 4, 6 and 8 are brought close to each other, it is caused by the modular plug. It is possible to set the magnitude of the anti-phase crosstalk current so as to cancel the crosstalk current.
Further, since the arrangement relationship between the contact portion and the connecting portion can be exchanged without causing the connecting portion to cross over, bending processing is not required for the connecting portion, and further, assembling order is restricted by not crossing over. There is an advantage that it does not. That is, there is an effect that the manufacturing is easy because the bending process is not required, and the assembling work is easy because there is no restriction on the assembling order.
