- 【特許請求の範囲】 1. それを通って軸方向に延在する超音波伝達部材を有する超音波カテーテル に結合された超音波トランスデューサを駆動するための方法において、超音波伝 達部材の末端側が所望の動作の超音波周波数で発振しており、前記方法が、 a)変調信号を供給し、変調信号は振幅が変化するとともに持続時間が連続で あり、 b)前記変調信号を超音波駆動信号に印加して超音波トランスデューサ駆動信 号を変調し、並びに d)得られた変調された超音波トランスデューサ駆動信号が持続時間が連続で あり、また所望の動作の超音波周波数を越える高い周波数成分が欠けている、 各ステップからなる方法。 2. 前記変調信号がサイン波である、請求の範囲第1項記載の方法。 3. さらに a)変調された駆動信号の電流をモニタし、 b)変調された駆動信号の電圧の振幅をその電流の変化に応答して変化させ、 並びに c)変調された駆動信号の電圧の振幅をその電流の変化に応答して変化させる ことがそのために使用される超音波エネルギーにおける不要な変動を減じること によって除去が高められる、各ステップをさらに含む請求の範囲第1項記載の方 法。 4. 前記変調信号が特定の用途に対して最適化された関数である、請求の範囲 第1項記載の方法。 5. 変調信号が、特定の用途に対して最適化された関数であるそれぞれ異なる 変調信号である、複数の異なる変調信号から選択可能である、請求の範囲第1項 記載の方法。 6. 前記変調信号が a)動脈硬化性の動脈瘤の除去、および b)血栓物体の除去 からなるリストから選択された少なくとも1つの特定の用途のために最適化され ている、請求の範囲第1項記載の方法。 7. さらに、 a)超音波伝達部材の最も末端側の範囲において超音波振動を表すフィードバ ク信号を計測し、 b)超音波伝達部材が破損したときに所望の誘導フィードバック信号を得るた めに通常必要とされる最小の駆動エネルギーを規定し、 c)伝達された駆動エネルギーを受信された誘導フィードバック制御信号に対 して周期的または連続的に比較し、並びに d)前記駆動エネルギーの前記誘導フィードバック制御信号に対する比較にお いて所望の超音波振動が前記超音波伝達部材が完全なときにこのような所望の超 音波信号のために必要とされる前記最小の駆動エネルギーレベルよりも小さい駆 動エネルギーレベルに達したことを示した場合には破損アラームを発生させる、 各ステップをさらに含む、請求の範囲第1項記載の方法。 8. 患者の治療処置のための方法において、 a)細長い超音波伝達部材の末端側を哺乳動物の体内の位置に位置させ、 b)変調された電気駆動信号を超音波トランスデューサに印加し、駆動信号は 振幅が変化するとともに持続時間が連続であり、並びに c)超音波トランスデューサにより供給される変調された超音波エネルギーを 細長い超音波伝達部材を通って哺乳動物の体内の所望の位置に伝達する、各ステ ップからなる方法。 9. 前記超音波伝達部材がカテーテル鞘内に配置されている、請求の範囲第8 項記載の方法。 10. 変調された超音波トランスデューサ駆動信号を印加するステップが一定 の振幅の超音波トランスデューサ駆動信号を変化する連続的な変調信号で変調す ることを含む、請求の範囲第8項記載の方法。 11. 細長い超音波伝達部材の末端側を哺乳動物の体内の位置に位置させるス テップが超音波伝達部材の末端側端部を血管の管腔内に位置させることを含む、 請求の範囲第8項記載の方法。 12. 超音波伝達部材に結合された超音波トランスデューサを駆動するための 方法において、 a)超音波トランスデューサ駆動信号を供給し、 b)前記超音波トランスデューサ駆動信号の電流をモニタし、並びに c)前記超音波トランスデューサ駆動信号の電圧をその電流の変化に対応させ て変化する、各ステップからなる方法。 13. さらに、 a)超音波伝達部材の最も末端側の範囲において超音波振動を表すフィードバ ック制御信号を計測し、 b)超音波伝達部材が破損したときに所望の誘導フィードバック信号を得るた めに通常必要とされる最小の駆動エネルギーを規定し、 c)伝達された駆動エネルギーを受信された誘導フィードバック制御信号に対 して周期的または連続的に比較し、並びに d)前記駆動エネルギーの前記誘導フィードバック制御信号に対する比較にお いて所望の超音波振動が前記超音波伝達部材が完全なときにこのような所望の超 音波信号のために必要とされる前記最小の駆動エネルギーレベルよりも小さい駆 動エネルギーレベルに達したことを示した場合には破損アラームを発生させる、 各ステップをさらに含む、請求の範囲第12項記載の方法。 14. 治療処置の際に使用される超音波を供給するための装置において、前記 装置が a)連続的で変化する変調された超音波トランスデューサ駆動信号を提供する ための変調された超音波トランスデューサ駆動信号発生器、 b)前記変調された超音波トランスデューサ駆動信号を受信して超音波出力を 供給する超音波トランスデューサ、並びに c)超音波を前記超音波トランスデューサから治療が必要な体内位置に伝える ために前記超音波トランスデューサに取り付けられた、末端側チップを有する超 音波伝達部材、からなる装置。 15. 前記超音波伝達部材の少なくとも一部を実質的に被覆するカテーテルを さらに含む、請求の範囲第14項記載の装置。 16. 前記変調された超音波トランスデューサ駆動信号発生器がさらに、 a)変化する連続的な変調信号を供給するための変調信号発生器、 b)超音波駆動信号を供給するための超音波トランスデューサ駆動信号発生器 、並びに c)変調信号を駆動信号に印加して変調された超音波トランスデューサ駆動信 号を発生するための変調器、を含む、請求の範囲第14項記載の装置。 17. 変調された超音波トランスデューサ駆動信号についての情報を表示する ための表示器をさらに含む、請求の範囲第14項記載の装置。 18. さらに、 a)変調された超音波トランスデューサ駆動信号の電流を感知するための電流 センサ、並びに b)超音波伝達部材の末端側のチップにおいて伝達された電力の変化に応答し て超音波トランスデューサ駆動信号の電圧を変化させるためのフィードバック制 御部を含む、請求の範囲第16項記載の装置。 19. 治療処置のために使用される超音波を供給するための装置において、 a)超音波トランスデューサ駆動信号を供給するためのソース電圧供給部、 b)ソース電圧供給部から超音波トランスデューサ駆動信号を受信する超音波 トランスデューサ、 c)超音波トランスデューサ駆動信号の電流を感知するための電流センサ、並 びに d)超音波伝達部材の末端側のチップにおいて伝達された電力の変化に応答し て超音波トランスデューサ駆動信号の電圧を変化させるためのフィードバック制 御部、からなる装置。 20.哺乳動物の体内の解剖学的構造内の物体を超音波的に除去するための超音 波システムで、前記システムはそれを通って軸方向に延在する超音波伝達部材を 有する細長い超音波伝達カテーテルに結合された超音波トランスデューサを含み 、使用中に前記超音波伝達部材の破損を検知するための方法において、前記方法 は、 a)超音波伝達部材の最も末端側の領域において超音波振動を表すフィードバ ック制御信号を計測し、 b)超音波伝達部材が破損したときに所望の誘導フィードバック信号を得るた めに通常必要とされる最小の駆動エネルギーを規定し、 c)伝達された駆動エネルギーを受信された誘導フィードバック制御信号に対 して周期的または連続的に比較し、並びに d)前記駆動エネルギーの前記誘導フィードバック制御信号に対する比較にお いて所望の超音波振動が前記超音波伝達部材が完全なときにこのような所望の超 音波信号のために必要とされる前記最小の駆動エネルギーレベルよりも小さい駆 動エネルギーレベルに達したことを示した場合には破損アラームを発生させる、 各ステップからなる方法。
