また、ヒアルロン酸は強水溶性であり、このため有機溶媒系あるいは油性基剤中での保湿剤としては使用できないものであった。
本発明は前記従来技術の課題に鑑みなされたものであり、その目的はヒアルロン酸の有する曳糸性などの欠点を改善しつつ、優れた皮膚柔軟化効果を発揮し得る低分子量アセチル化ヒアルロン酸を主成分とする皮膚柔軟化剤を提供することにある。[0003]

前記目的を達成するために本発明者が鋭意検討した結果、特定の極限粘度及びアセチル基置換数、即ち、特定の分子量及び疎水性を有するアセチル化ヒアルロン酸が、曳糸性の点で大幅に改善され、しかも高度の皮膚柔軟化効果を発揮し得ることを見いだし、本発明を完成するに至った。[0004]

以下、本発明の構成についてさらに詳細に説明する。
本発明にかかる低分子量アセチル化ヒアルロン酸は、下記化1に示すような構造を有する。

本発明にかかる低分子量アセチル化ヒアルロン酸を皮膚柔軟化剤として用いる場合、分子量を極限粘度で示すと、前述したとおり50〜200cm3/gであることが必要である。なお、アセチル化ヒアルロン酸の分子量を直接明示することは困難であるので、本願明細書においては温度25℃において、0.2Mリン酸緩衝液(pH=7.3)中で測定した極限粘度の測定値を用いている。[0005]
