Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce non-metal inclusion in cast slabs due to erosion of a nozzle by forming the refactory composing at least one part of the part coming into contact with the inner hole part of the continuous casting nozzle for steel and/or molten steel into the dense layer containing the specified weight ratio or less of carbon. SOLUTION: This nozzle is composed of the dense layer 1 containing, 5 wt.% or less carbon and a porous layer 2. Although the dense layer 1 is arranged even in the part not arranging the porous layer 2, the alumina adhesion preventing effect of the dense layer 1 is not lost even though the porous layer 2 does not exist. In the case, in order to secure thermal spalling resistance, the porosity of alumina graphite refactory 3 of the nozzle main body part used in the inner side of the dense layer 1 is specified to be 15-30%. Even though the dense layer 1 is not arranged in the hole part coming into contact with the inner hole part of the nozzle or molten steel, the effect is not lost. Alumina adhesion is remarkable in the lower end side of the inner hole part of the nozzle. It is effective to arrange the dense layer 1 limiting the place having remarkable alumina adhesion.

2. Description of the Related Art Alumina-graphite materials have been widely used as nozzles for continuous casting of steel. That is,
As continuous casting nozzles, there are a long nozzle used between a ladle and a tundish, an air seal pipe, an immersion nozzle used between a tundish and a mold, and the like. The requirements for "corrosion resistance and spalling resistance to molten steel and slag" have become very strict due to application conditions. In fact, alumina-graphite materials are often used to meet such requirements.

When a nozzle made of an alumina-graphite material is used, particularly when used for casting an aluminum killed steel containing a large amount of Al in molten steel, alumina (Al 2 O 3 ) generated by oxidation of Al is used as a nozzle. There is a problem that the nozzle adheres to the inner wall and the nozzle is easily blocked.

[0004] Recently, continuous casting has been promoted from the viewpoint of improving productivity. However, if the nozzle is clogged due to adhesion of alumina, it becomes impossible to control the flow rate of molten steel, and it becomes difficult to continue casting. In addition, the plugging material may be peeled off during the casting due to the flow of the molten steel. In this case, the plugging material is mixed into the mold and is taken into the slab, which is one of the causes of the slab defect. ing.

The reaction expressed by the above formulas (2) and (3) occurs between the above and Al 2 O 3 (s) is generated and adheres to the surface of the nozzle inner hole. It is considered that starting from the alumina thus generated, the alumina in the molten steel adheres and deposits on the alumina, and the nozzle blockage proceeds. On the other hand, a large amount of Al 2 O 3 as inclusions in the steel already exists in the molten steel, and these Al 2 O 3 directly adhere to and accumulate in the nozzle inner hole and the like, and the nozzle blockage proceeds. It is possible that

As a means for preventing such nosle blockage, various methods have been studied and proposed. For example, as an effective method for preventing nozzle blockage, gas blowing is generally performed. This gas blowing method is a method in which an inner hole portion of a immersion nozzle or the like is made porous, and Ar gas or the like is caused to flow through pores, and is a method of preventing the adhesion of alumina by the flow of the gas. This method is effective in preventing nozzle blockage, and many steelworks employ this method.

However, if the gas is flowed to such an extent that nozzle clogging can be prevented, there is a disadvantage that fine gas bubbles enter the mold and are taken into the slab to generate defects. In addition, the fluctuation of the molten metal level in the mold becomes large, and inclusions are easily entangled, so that there is also a disadvantage that defects are easily generated in the slab.

As a method other than the gas blowing method, as disclosed in Japanese Patent Publication No. 23494/1990,
Measures for preventing blockage by using an O-containing zirconia clinker are known. This is because CaO mixed into the zirconia clinker reacts with Al 2 O 3 particles precipitated in the molten steel to generate a CaO-Al 2 O 3 -based low melting point compound, and the low melting point compound is generated by the flow of the molten steel. To remove alumina from adhering.

This method is considered to be effective in preventing alumina from adhering. And the immersion nozzle which arrange | positioned such a material using the zirconia clinker containing CaO in the inner pipe part is actually used in many continuous casting machines. However, the zirconia clinker containing CaO has a large coefficient of thermal expansion, and since a material using this zirconia clinker is disposed on the inner hole side of the nozzle, a large thermal stress occurs outside the nozzle in the initial stage of casting. However, there is a disadvantage that the spalling resistance is poor.

On the other hand, JP-A-3-243258, JP-A-5-154628, JP-A-8-57601 and JP-A-8-57613 disclose an inner hole portion of a nozzle and a contact portion with molten steel. Describes the use of an oxide-based material that does not contain carbon, or contains less than 1% by weight of carbon, thereby preventing nozzle clogging. That is, these publications disclose oxides such as alumina and magnesia at the inner hole of the immersion nozzle and at the contact portion with the molten steel, and are effective in preventing alumina adhesion and carbon pick-up. It is stated that there is.

However, in the inventions described in these publications,
Both of these materials contain almost no carbon source, and therefore have the disadvantage that the coefficient of thermal expansion is inevitably increased and the spalling resistance is poor. In addition, although an effect is obtained when the number of castings is low, there is a disadvantage that the adhesion increases as the number of castings increases.

Means for solving the above-mentioned "defect inferior in spalling resistance" is disclosed in JP-A-8-576 mentioned above.
No. 01 and JP-A-3-243258 describe that the inner hole of the nozzle and the contact portion with the molten steel are formed separately from the nozzle body, and after the nozzle body is completed, A method of pouring or press-fitting an oxide material or inserting a sleeve is described. However, this method has the drawback that the manufacturing process of the continuous casting nozzle becomes very complicated, the number of processes is increased, and the manufacturing cost becomes very high.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail including embodiments of the present invention. In the nozzle for continuous casting of steel of the present invention (hereinafter simply referred to as “nozzle”), a carbon content of 5% by weight is used as a refractory of at least a part of an inner hole of the nozzle and / or a portion in contact with molten steel. By using the following dense layer, in continuous casting of steel, adhesion of alumina to the nozzle inner hole portion is small, and erosion due to molten steel can be suppressed.

In the nozzle of the present invention, the dense layer provided as a refractory of at least a part of the nozzle in contact with the inner hole and / or the molten steel has a carbon content of 5% by weight or less. Has a first feature of the present invention.
This is because if the carbon content exceeds 5% by weight, the effect of preventing the adhesion of alumina is significantly reduced. In particular, in the dense layer, if the carbon content is high, there is a problem that the densification is hindered. Therefore, the carbon content in the refractory material constituting the dense layer is preferably 1% by weight or less.
Most preferably, it is substantially absent except for carbon as an unavoidable impurity.

The “dense layer” described in the present specification is
A refractory having a porosity of 15% or less, preferably 10% or less. This is the second feature of the nozzle of the present invention. here,
If the porosity exceeds 15%, the effect of preventing alumina from adhering is reduced, and the erosion of the inner hole portion itself is increased, and the penetration of the base metal tends to be unfavorable.

Here, the refractory conventionally used in the nozzle inner hole portion for preventing the adhesion of alumina has a relatively high porosity structure (for example, 15 μm) to prevent cracking due to thermal spalling during casting. About 20%). For this reason, the use of such a refractory is advantageous in terms of cracking, but it has problems such as large erosion and large infiltration of metal during casting. However, there is a disadvantage that the adhesion increases as the number of castings increases.

The denser the layer that is in direct contact with the molten steel, the higher the smoothness of the refractory surface and the more advantageous it is in preventing adhesion of inclusions present in the steel. Further, by densifying the layer in direct contact with the molten steel, the porosity is reduced, the diffusion of gas from inside the refractory represented by the above formulas (1) to (3) is suppressed, and the amount of alumina generated is reduced. can do. Furthermore, the densification reduces erosion and infiltration of the base metal by molten steel, and the smoothness of the inner surface of the nozzle is easily maintained, which is also a factor of suppressing inclusion adhesion.

In the nozzle of the present invention, the refractory material forming the dense layer is preferably made of a material having an average particle size of 10 μm or less. Generally, a refractory material having a small particle size has a high sintering property. Therefore, when such a refractory material is used for an inner hole portion of a nozzle or a portion that comes into contact with molten steel, heating in a sintering step at the time of manufacturing a nozzle, or casting. And a dense layer having a low porosity and a high surface smoothness can be provided. The use of this dense layer can significantly reduce the adhesion of alumina largely due to such an improvement in surface smoothness. The average particle size of the refractory material constituting the dense layer is 10 μm or less as described above, and preferably 5 μm or less. This is because the smaller the particle size, the higher the sinterability and the easier it is to obtain a dense structure. When the average particle size of the refractory material constituting the dense layer is larger than 10 μm,
It is not preferable because densification is hindered and it becomes difficult to obtain a structure with low porosity.

Further, the refractory material constituting the dense layer is not particularly limited, but an oxide can be suitably used. As the oxide, alumina, silica, zirconia, mullite, spinel, magnesia, titania and the like, which are high melting point materials, are suitable. Further, these oxides can be used in combination. If the amount is small, a low-melting point compound can be added, which is effective for controlling the tissue.

Further, a material which is converted into these oxides or compounds containing these oxides by heating at the firing stage in the manufacture of the nozzle; heating at the preheating of the nozzle before casting; and heating by molten steel at the time of casting is used. It is also possible. For example, materials such as hydroxides, carbonates, alkoxides and the like can be suitably used.

In the nozzle of the present invention, the thickness of the dense layer is preferably 1.5 mm or less. This is because the refractory material constituting the dense layer has a small particle size and high sinterability. Therefore, if the refractory material has a thickness exceeding 1.5 mm, the refractory material becomes dense due to heating from molten steel during casting. This is because the influence of the formation becomes large, and the possibility that cracks are generated in the dense layer or separation occurs increases. Further, when densification is performed, the influence of the thermal expansion of the refractory material itself increases, which causes a problem of thermal spalling. The lower limit of the thickness of the dense layer can be set according to the average particle size, sinterability, etc. of the refractory material used. However, in order to prevent the loss of the dense layer due to erosion or the like, the lower limit is 0.1 mm or more. It is desirable that

In the nozzle of the present invention, the dense layer can be formed by thermal spraying using a refractory material made of an oxide. By using thermal spraying, a dense layer having a uniform thickness of the refractory material can be provided. In addition, since the surface smoothness is also increased, it is effective for suppressing alumina adhesion.

When the nozzle of the present invention is an immersion nozzle, there is a case where alumina adheres to the periphery of the discharge hole in some cases. In such a case, it is effective to form a dense layer by thermal spraying. The thickness of the sprayed film is preferably 1.5 mm or less according to the thickness of the dense layer. Sprayed film thickness is 1.5
If it exceeds mm, it is not preferable because there is a risk of cracking or peeling due to thermal shock during casting.

Incidentally, since the inner hole of the nozzle is in contact with the molten steel at a high temperature, a large thermal stress is generated in the nozzle particularly at the beginning of casting. Therefore, considering only the heat-resistant spall property, it is more advantageous that the inner hole portion is formed of a porous layer having a high porosity. However, if all of the refractories directly contacting the molten steel are porous layers, problems such as increased erosion and infiltration of the base metal occur, and as a result, the amount of adhered alumina also increases.

Therefore, in another embodiment of the nozzle of the present invention, a dense layer is provided on the side of the nozzle directly in contact with molten steel, and a porous layer having a carbon content of 5% by weight or less is provided inside the dense layer. Configuration. That is, a two-layer structure in which a porous layer is disposed between the dense layer and the refractory constituting the nozzle body may be employed. With such a configuration, a nozzle excellent in heat resistance spalling property can be obtained, because the porous layer disposed inside the dense layer functions as a stress relaxation mechanism. Further, by disposing the porous layer, the thermal conductivity is reduced, and the amount of heat removed from the molten steel is reduced. Therefore, it is presumed that the adhesion of the metal to the nozzle inner hole is reduced, and therefore, the alumina inclusions in the steel are also less likely to adhere.

The “porous layer” described in this specification
Refers to those having a porosity of more than 15%. This is to enhance the stress relaxation effect, and the porosity is 15%.
If it is below, cracks will occur in the nozzle itself due to thermal stress,
This is because the risk of destruction increases. On the other hand, if the porosity exceeds 35%, the strength of the porous layer structure is significantly reduced, so that the problem of exfoliation of the inner hole material during casting occurs. Therefore, the porosity of the porous layer exceeds 15%, and is 35%.
The following range is preferred.

Further, the refractory material constituting the porous layer is not particularly limited, but an oxide can be suitably used. As the oxide, alumina, silica, zirconia, mullite, spinel, magnesia, titania and the like, which are high melting point materials, are suitable. Further, these oxides can be used in combination. If the amount is small, a low-melting point compound can be added, which is effective for controlling the tissue.

The carbon content in the refractory material constituting the porous layer is desirably 5% by weight or less.
This is because if the carbon content exceeds 5% by weight, the effect of preventing the adhesion of alumina is significantly reduced. Further, a material which is converted into these oxides or compounds containing these oxides by heating at the firing stage in the production of the nozzle; heating at the preheating of the nozzle before casting; and heating by molten steel at the time of casting is used. In the distribution pattern shown in FIG. 2, the upper portion of the inner hole of the nozzle is a porous layer (2). The porous layer (2) has a carbon content of 5% by weight or less. According to the nozzle of the present invention, the dense layer comprises:
It has a carbon content of 5% by weight or less and a porosity of 15% or less, is dense, has high surface smoothness, and has very little alumina adhesion. Further, there is a feature that the erosion of the dense layer itself is very small. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the incorporation of nonmetallic inclusions into the slab due to the erosion of the nozzle, and it is possible to obtain high-quality steel with few defects. Further, since the dense layer in the nozzle inner hole is a dense oxide layer, it is also suitable for casting high oxygen steel.
