Description
Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.光源を含むライト・ガイドであって、 (a)第1のオクタチュア対称方向(44)に直交する方向に延びる一定形状 の横断面と、前記第1のオクタチュア対称方向(44)に平行に延びる光学中心 線(50)とを有するプリズム・ライト・ガイド壁材から形成された外側プリズ ム・ライト・ガイド(48)と、 (i)前記ライト・ガイド壁材の複数の表面が第1のオクタチュア対称方向 (44)に対して実質的にオクタチュアの関係にあることと、 (ii)前記壁材の任意の内面上の任意のポイントにおける面直交ベクトル (46)が前記ポイントから光学中心線(50)に直交して延びる第1の仮想線 に対して実質的に平行であるか、または同第1の仮想線に対して実質的に直交す ることと、 (b)前記光源から放射された大半の光線を遮断すべく光学中心線(50)の 周囲において円筒対称をなすように前記ガイド(48)内において光源の周囲に 位置決めされたカバー(52)と、前記カバー(52)がプリズム・ライト・ガ イド壁材から形成されていることと、 (i)前記カバー壁材の複数の表面はカバー(52)の任意のポイント(5 4)において、空間的に変化する第2のオクタチュア対称方向(56)に対して 実質的にオクタチュアの関係にあることと、前記ポイント(54)において、第 2のオクタチュア対称方向(56)は、 (A)前記第1のオクタチュア対称方向(44)に対して直交する方向で あることと、 (B)前記カバー上のポイント(54)から光学中心線(50)に直交し て延びる第2の仮想線(58)に直交する方向であることと、 (ii)前記カバー(52)の任意の外面上の任意のポイントにおける面直 交ベクトルは第1のオクタチュア対称方向(44)に対して実質的に平行である か、または同第1のオクタチュア対称方向(44)に実質的に直交することと、 (iii)前記カバー(52)は同カバーの内面上に入射した光線がライト・ガ イド壁材に向かい、かつ同ライト・ガイド壁材を貫通して伝搬することを実質的 に防止すべく、光学中心線(50)に十分近い領域内に配置されていることを含 むライト・ガイド。 2.前記カバー(52)は円筒体を形成している請求項1に記載のライト・ガイ ド。 3.(a)前記円筒体は長さ“l”及び直径“d”を有することと、 (b)前記長さ“l”はライト・ガイドの長さより短いことと、 (c)前記円筒体の各端部は光源から直径“d”の1.65倍を越す長さ延び ていること を含む請求項2に記載のライト・ガイド。 4.前記ライト・ガイド(48)は円筒体を形成している請求項1乃至3のいず れか一項に記載のライト・ガイド。 5.前記ライト・ガイド(48,32)及びカバー(52,30)はそれぞれ光 学中心線に交わる平坦な金属リフレクタ(34)によって切取られた同心をなす 部分的な円筒体を形成している請求項1乃至3のいずれか一項に記載のライト・ ガイド。 6.前記プリズム・ライト・ガイドは、 (a)ガイドに沿った選択された複数のポイントにおいて制御された光線の放 射を行う光線抽出手段と、 (b)ガイドの互いに対向する2つの端部のいずれか一方を通じた光線の放射 を防止する端部リフレクタ手段と を有する請求項1乃至3のいずれか一項に記載のライト・ガイド。
