[Technical Field to which the Invention Belongs]
The present invention relates to a needle-shaped ultrasonic probe that directly inserts an ultrasonic transducer attached to the needle tip into biological tissue inside a subject and collects ultrasonic images of the biological tissue by two-dimensional ultrasonic scanning. In particular, the present invention relates to a needle-shaped ultrasonic probe that has a detachable needle-shaped part that is directly inserted into biological tissue, thereby improving safety for the subject and improving the S/N ratio of collected ultrasonic image signals, and that can simultaneously display ultrasonic tomographic images of the inside of the subject and ultrasonic images of the insertion site on a display device, and an ultrasonic diagnostic device using the same.

2. Description of the Related Art
Biopsies are commonly used to diagnose lesions in various parts of the body cavity. While imaging the lesion with an ultrasound diagnostic device, a puncture needle is inserted to a predetermined location, a portion of the tissue from the lesion is captured and collected at the tip of the needle, and an observation sample is then prepared. The tissue is then examined under an optical microscope for diagnosis. However, this method requires the tissue to be extracted from the body and then various processes are performed to prepare the sample, resulting in a lengthy diagnosis time. Furthermore, various processing steps on the sample can potentially alter the tissue from its in vivo state. To address these issues, needle-shaped ultrasound probes have been proposed in recent years, such as in Japanese Patent Publication Nos. 4-78299 and 5-9097, in which an ultrasound transducer is attached to a puncture needle and inserted directly into the lesion to examine the tissue characteristics of the lesion or to image the surrounding tissue.
[0003]
In conventional needle-shaped ultrasonic probes, an inner needle made of a rigid material and formed in the shape of a small-diameter round rod with a conical tip is inserted inside an outer needle made of a rigid material and formed in the shape of a small-diameter hollow pipe, so that it can rotate around its axis and move in the axial direction, and an ultrasonic transducer that transmits and receives ultrasonic waves is provided on the outer surface near the tip of the inner needle. The inner and outer needles are inserted into the subject, and ultrasonic waves are transmitted and received from the ultrasonic transducer, and two-dimensional scanning of the inner needle by rotation and translation is performed to collect ultrasonic images of the biological tissue.
[0004]
[Problem to be solved by the invention]
However, in such conventional needle-shaped ultrasonic probes, the needle-shaped part having the inner needle and outer needle that are inserted into the subject is not detachable, and it is not possible to easily replace just the needle-shaped part for each different subject. Therefore, when reusing the probe, the needle-shaped part must be thoroughly disinfected, making it difficult to handle and requiring careful attention to safety.
[0005]
Furthermore, for tissue characterization diagnosis of lesions using needle-shaped ultrasonic probes, a method of directly analyzing the ultrasound image of the lesion is effective. To achieve this, a high resolution of at least several micrometers to several tens of micrometers is required to image the microstructure at the cellular level. Therefore, the center frequency of the ultrasonic transducer's transmission and reception waves must be a high frequency of several tens to several hundreds of megahertz, which requires a thin-film transducer. Furthermore, to minimize invasiveness to the living body, the diameter of the needle-shaped portion must be kept to approximately 1 mm, making it difficult to install multiple ultrasonic transducers. For this reason, scanning with an ultrasonic transducer using a thin-film transducer is considered effective. However, due to the thin-film transducer's dielectric strength, a large voltage cannot be applied, making it impossible to increase the ultrasonic power. Furthermore, the reflectance at the cellular level within the living body due to differences in acoustic impedance is expected to be very small compared to the average reflectance of the living body. Therefore, the received ultrasonic signal is often too small to achieve the S/N ratio required for imaging.
[0006]
Furthermore, in the ultrasound diagnostic device using the needle-shaped ultrasound probe described above, the ultrasound tomographic image (B-mode image) of the diagnostic region inside the subject obtained with a normal probe and the ultrasound image (needle tip image) of the insertion site obtained with the needle-shaped ultrasound probe, or the ultrasound tomographic image inside the subject and the ultrasound images of the normal and abnormal tissues at the insertion site, are not displayed simultaneously on the screen of the display device. Therefore, the positional relationship between the diagnostic region inside the subject and the insertion site is not immediately clear, and it is not clear how the abnormal tissue at the insertion site differs from normal tissue, which sometimes makes it difficult to perform accurate and smooth diagnosis and treatment.
[0007]
Therefore, the present invention addresses these problems by providing a needle-shaped ultrasonic probe and an ultrasonic diagnostic device using the same, which has a detachable needle-shaped part that is inserted directly into biological tissue, thereby improving safety for the subject, and which can improve the S/N ratio of collected ultrasonic image signals and simultaneously display an ultrasonic tomographic image of the interior of the subject and an ultrasonic image of the insertion site on a display device.
[0008]
[Means for solving the problem]
In order to achieve the above object, the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe of the present invention comprises an inner needle formed in the shape of a hollow pipe, which is inserted inside the outer needle , and which is formed in the shape of a round rod with a conical tip so that the inner needle can rotate around its axis and move in a translating manner in the axial direction, and an ultrasonic transducer for transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves is provided on the outer surface near the tip of the inner needle, and the inner and outer needles are inserted into a subject to transmit and receive ultrasonic waves from the ultrasonic transducer and perform two-dimensional scanning of the inner needle by rotation and translation to collect ultrasonic image signals of biological tissue. The needle-shaped ultrasonic probe comprises a main body portion incorporating a drive mechanism for rotating the inner needle around its axis or moving it in a translating manner, and an attachment/detachment means for attaching and detaching the needle-shaped portion having the inner needle and outer needle to be inserted into the subject.
[0009]
The ultrasonic diagnostic device as a related invention comprises a probe that is operated by contacting the surface of a subject to transmit and receive ultrasonic waves into the subject, an ultrasonic device that drives the probe to transmit and receive ultrasonic waves and processes the collected ultrasonic image signals to create an ultrasonic tomographic image of the inside of the subject, a display device that takes in the image signals from the ultrasonic device and displays the ultrasonic tomographic image , a needle-shaped ultrasonic probe with a needle-shaped tip that has an ultrasonic transducer on its outer surface and is inserted into the subject to transmit and receive ultrasonic waves and scan to collect ultrasonic image signals of biological tissue, and a needle-shaped ultrasonic probe. an image processing unit that processes the collected ultrasound image signals to create an ultrasound image of the insertion site, in which the needle-shaped ultrasound probe of claim 1 is used as the needle-shaped ultrasound probe , and the device is equipped with a driving means of a driving mechanism that rotates the inner needle of the needle-shaped ultrasound probe around its axis or translates it in the axial direction, a calculation means that calculates the collected ultrasound image signals in synchronization with the drive of the inner needle, and a control means that controls the operation of the driving means and the calculation means , and the display device is configured to simultaneously display an ultrasound tomographic image of the interior of the subject and an ultrasound image of the insertion site.
[0010]
In addition, the control means that controls the operation of the driving means and the calculation means may intermittently rotate the inner needle of the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe around its axis or translate it in its axial direction, and during the stop period, repeat the transmission and reception of ultrasonic waves by the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe a predetermined number of times and perform calculation processing on the received signal.
[0011]
Furthermore, the control means for controlling the operation of the driving means and the calculation means may be configured to repeatedly transmit and receive ultrasonic waves by the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe while continuously rotating the inner needle of the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe around its axis or translating it in the axial direction, and to perform calculation processing on the received signals a predetermined number of times.
[0012]
Furthermore, the control means for controlling the operation of the driving means and the calculation means may vary the scanning speed and calculation density of the ultrasonic reception signal when the inner needle of the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe is rotated around its axis or translated in its axial direction intermittently, or the scanning speed and calculation density of the ultrasonic reception signal when the inner needle of the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe is rotated around its axis or translated in its axial direction continuously.
[0013]
In addition, the calculation means may have a three-stage configuration including a first calculator that performs calculations on the input ultrasonic reception signal, a memory unit that stores the output signal from the first calculator, and a second calculator that performs calculations on the output signal from the memory unit.

1 is a central longitudinal cross-sectional view showing an embodiment of a needle-shaped ultrasonic probe according to the present invention. This needle-shaped ultrasonic probe has an ultrasonic transducer attached to the needle tip that is inserted directly into biological tissue within a subject, and collects ultrasonic images of the biological tissue by two-dimensional ultrasonic scanning. As shown in FIG. 1, the needle-shaped probe comprises a needle-shaped portion 21 having an outer needle 1 and an inner needle 2, and a main body portion 4 .
[0015]
The outer needle 1 serves as a member for holding the inner needle 2 inside and guiding it when it is inserted into the biological tissue of a subject, and is formed as a small-diameter hollow pipe made of a rigid material such as metal and having an outer diameter of about 1 to 2 mm. The inner needle 2 is inserted inside the outer needle 1. This inner needle 2 holds an ultrasonic transducer 3 (described below) on its outer surface and is inserted directly into the biological tissue of a subject, and is formed as a small-diameter round rod made of a rigid material such as metal and having an outer diameter of about 1 to 2 mm, with a conical tip 5. The inner needle 2 is inserted coaxially inside the outer needle 1 with a small clearance, and is provided so as to be rotatable about its axis as indicated by arrow B and so as to be able to translate along its axial direction as indicated by arrow C, as shown in Figure 2.
[0016]
An ultrasonic transducer 3 is provided on the outer surface of the inner needle 2 near the tip 5. This ultrasonic transducer 3 emits ultrasonic waves into the subject and receives echo signals reflected from biological tissue. As shown in FIG. 3, a groove 6 is formed in a portion of the outer surface of the inner needle 2, and the ultrasonic transducer 3 is fitted and fixed into this groove 6. The ultrasonic transducer 3 is based on an acoustic lens material 7 such as sapphire or silicon. One surface 8 of the acoustic lens material 7 is provided with a lower electrode 9, a piezoelectric element 10, and an upper electrode 11, and the other surface 12 is provided with a lens surface 13 formed in a concave spherical shape. By driving the lower electrode 9, piezoelectric element 10, and upper electrode 11, ultrasonic waves 14 are generated. The ultrasonic waves 14 are refracted and bent by the lens surface 13, and the refracted ultrasonic waves 14' are focused at a focal point 15. Reference numeral 16 denotes the subject, and reference numeral 17 denotes the imaging area obtained by rotating the inner needle 2 in the direction of arrow B as shown in FIG. 2 at the focal point 15. As shown in FIG. 1, an intermediate base 18 is mounted on a part of the acoustic lens material 7, and this intermediate base 18 is bonded to the lower electrode 9 and the upper electrode 11 with signal lines 19, and furthermore, a cable 20 is connected to the intermediate base 18 and connected to a control device not shown.
[0017]
The needle-like portion 21 is formed by inserting the inner needle 2 into the outer needle 1. In this state, the needle-like portion 21 is inserted into the subject 16, and ultrasonic waves are transmitted and received from the ultrasonic transducer 3 to the subject 16, while the inner needle 2 is rotated as shown by arrow B and translated as shown by arrow C to perform two-dimensional scanning, thereby collecting ultrasonic images of the biological tissue of the subject 16.
[0018]
In the present invention, as shown in Fig. 1, a drive mechanism 22 for the inner needle 2 is provided inside the main body portion 4, and an attachment/detachment means is provided for detachably combining the needle-like portion 21 with the main body portion 4. First, the drive mechanism 22 rotates the inner needle 2 about its axis or translates it in its axial direction, and is composed of a rotation actuator 23, a first movable block 24, a translation actuator 25, and a second movable block 26. As shown in Fig. 2, the rotation actuator 23 rotates the inner needle 2 about its axis in the direction of arrow B, and is composed of, for example, a small electric motor or the like, and is fixed to the proximal end of the tubular body 27 of the main body portion 4. A first movable block 24 is attached to a rotation shaft 28 of the rotation actuator 23. This first movable block 24 transmits the rotational force of the rotation actuator 23 directly to the second movable block 26, which will be described later, and has an engagement protrusion 29 at its tip.
[0019]
A translational actuator 25 is connected to the rotational shaft 28 of the rotational actuator 23. As shown in FIG. 2 , this translational actuator 25 translates the inner needle 2 in its axial direction as indicated by arrow C, and is composed of, for example, a laminated piezoelectric element that generates a driving force in the front-to-rear direction or a linear actuator that converts the rotational motion of a motor into linear motion. Furthermore, a second movable block 26 is attached to the distal end of the translational actuator 25. This second movable block 26 transmits both the rotational force of the rotational actuator 23 and the linear motion of the translational actuator 25 to the inner needle 2, and has, at its proximal end, an interlocking recess 30 that engages with the interlocking protrusion 29 of the first movable block 24. The interlocking recess 30 and the interlocking protrusion 29 are interlocked and slidably engaged with each other. The engagement length between the interlocking protrusion 29 and the interlocking recess 30 is set to a length that can accommodate the distance of the linear motion of the translational actuator 25.
[0020]
Next, the structure for attaching and detaching the needle-like portion 21 to the main body portion 4 comprises an inner needle clamping piece 31 protruding from the tip of the second movable block 26, and a connection terminal 32 provided on its inner surface. An outer needle clamping portion 33 is provided extending from the tip of the tubular body 27 of the main body portion 4, and a fixing knob 34 is provided at the base of the outer needle clamping portion 33, which can be rotated to open and close the tip of the outer needle clamping portion 33. Meanwhile, an electrode 35 that comes into contact with the connection terminal 32 of the inner needle clamping piece 31 is provided at the base end of the inner needle 2 of the needle-like portion 21. The base end of the inner needle 2 of the needle-like portion 21 is then inserted into the tip end of the main body portion 4, the electrode 35 is brought into contact with the connection terminal 32 of the inner needle clamping piece 31, the base end of the outer needle 1 is inserted inside the outer needle clamping portion 33, and the fixing knob 34 is tightened to close the tip of the outer needle clamping portion 33 and attach the needle-like portion 21 in a fixed state. From this state, the fixing knob 34 is loosened to spread the tip of the outer needle clamping portion 33 and release and remove the needle-like portion 21. The inner needle clamping piece 31, the outer needle clamping portion 33, and the fixing knob 34 constitute an attachment/detachment means that allows the needle-like portion 21 to be attached and detached to the main body portion 4.
[0021]
Figure 4 is a block diagram showing an embodiment of an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus as an invention related to the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe shown in Figure 1. This ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus uses ultrasonic waves to obtain ultrasonic images of the diagnostic region and insertion site of the subject, and as shown in Figure 4, comprises a probe 36, an ultrasonic device 37, a monitor 38, a needle-shaped ultrasonic probe 39, and an image processing unit 40.
[0022]
The probe 36 is operated by contacting it with the surface of the subject 16 to transmit and receive ultrasonic waves into the subject 16, and is equipped with an ultrasonic vibrator inside that emits ultrasonic waves and receives reflected echoes. The ultrasound device 37 drives the probe 36 to transmit and receive ultrasonic waves and processes the collected ultrasonic image signals to create an ultrasonic tomographic image of a diagnostic region 41 inside the subject 16, and is equipped with a transmitting circuit, a receiving circuit, a logarithmic compression circuit, a detecting circuit, etc. The monitor 38 serves as a display device that receives the image signal from the ultrasound device 37 and displays the ultrasonic tomographic image . The needle-shaped ultrasound probe 39 has a puncture needle-shaped tip and an ultrasonic transducer on its outer surface, and is inserted into the subject 16 to transmit and receive ultrasonic waves and scan to collect ultrasonic image signals of biological tissue.
[0023]
Furthermore, the image processing unit 40 processes the ultrasonic image signals collected by the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe 39 to create an ultrasonic image of the insertion point in the diagnostic region 41. As shown in FIG. 6, the image processing unit 40 comprises a transmitting circuit 43 that supplies a transmitting drive signal to the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe 39 via a connector 42, a preamplifier 46 that inputs and amplifies the ultrasonic reception signal received by the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe 39 and extracted by a receiving circuit 44 via a connector 45, a gain adjustment unit 47 that optimizes the signal level of the ultrasonic reception signal from the preamplifier 46, and a counter 48 that synchronizes the signal level according to the set value of the counter 48. The ultrasonic probe 39 includes an arithmetic circuit 50 which controls the transmitting circuit 43 by a circuit 49 to repeatedly transmit and receive ultrasonic waves and which functions as arithmetic means for calculating the received signal from the gain adjustment unit 47, a drive circuit 52 which functions as drive means for sending drive signals to the drive mechanism 22 of the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe 39 via a connector 51, a control circuit unit 54 such as a personal computer which functions as control means for collectively controlling the arithmetic circuit 50 and drive circuit 52 via a bus line 53, and a signal processing circuit 55 which performs logarithmic compression, detection processing, etc. on the ultrasonic image signal from the arithmetic circuit 50. The output signal from the signal processing circuit 55 is sent to the monitor 38 via a connector 56.
[0024]
1, the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe 39 used in the ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus of the present invention is a needle-shaped ultrasonic probe in which a drive mechanism 22 is built into the main body 4 and a needle-shaped portion 21 is detachably combined with the main body 4. The image processing unit 40 is characterized by having a drive circuit 52 for the drive mechanism 22 that rotates the inner needle 2 of the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe 39 about its axis or translates it in its axial direction, an arithmetic circuit 50 that calculates ultrasonic image signals collected in synchronization with the drive of the inner needle 2, and a control circuit unit 54 that controls the operation of the drive circuit 52 and the arithmetic circuit 50.
[0025]
As shown in Fig. 7, the internal configuration of the arithmetic circuit 50 is a three-stage configuration including a first arithmetic unit 57 that performs an arithmetic operation on the input ultrasonic reception signal, a memory unit 58 that stores the output signal from the first arithmetic unit 57, and a second arithmetic unit 59 that performs an arithmetic operation on the output signal from the memory unit 58. In Fig. 7, a first latch 60 temporarily stores the arithmetic result of the first arithmetic unit 57 and sends it to the memory unit 58. An address circuit 61 generates predetermined address data prior to recording in the memory unit 58. A second latch 62 temporarily stores data read from the memory unit 58 and transfers it to another input unit of the first arithmetic unit 57. A control circuit 63 controls the operation of each of the above components.
[0026]
Next, the operation of the arithmetic circuit 50 will be described with reference to the time chart shown in FIG. 7. First, in FIG. 7, the ultrasonic wave reception signal that has been image-processed is A/D converted at a predetermined bit rate and then input to the first arithmetic unit 57 as input data D1 , D2 , ... (FIG. 8(a)). Next, the data processed by the first arithmetic unit 57 is temporarily stored in the first latch 60 and sent to the memory unit 58 for sequential recording. At this time, prior to recording in the memory unit 58, the address circuit 61 generates predetermined address data A1 , A2 , ... (FIG. 8(c)). Once the address is determined, the previously recorded data is read from the memory unit 58 and new data is recorded. That is, the control circuit 63 switches between read and write for the memory unit 58 as shown in FIG. 8(b), and controls the memory unit 58 to be used in a so-called read-modify-write cycle. In this read-modify-write cycle, for the same addresses A 1 , A 2 , . . ., half of the address holding time is used for data output (read) and the other half is used for data input (write).
[0027]
Next, in the first half of the time after the address is determined, the memory unit 58 outputs the pre-recorded data as D101 , D102 , ... shown in Figure 8(d) and sends it to the second latch 62. The second latch 62 temporarily stores this data and then outputs it as D101 , D102 , ... shown in Figure 8(e), transferring it to another input section of the first arithmetic unit 57. The first arithmetic unit 57 then performs a predetermined operation on the input data D101 , D102 , ... and sends the operation result to the first latch 60. Thereafter, the processing proceeds in the same manner as described above, and the data operated by the first arithmetic unit 57 and the memory unit 58 is sent to the second arithmetic unit 59 via the second latch 62. Next, the second arithmetic unit 59 receives the data output from the second latch 62, divides the operation result by the first arithmetic unit 57 by the number of operations, normalizes it, and processes it so that it has the same bit length as the original data. As a result, the second computing unit 59 outputs processed data D201 , D202 , ... as shown in Fig. 8(f). The second computing unit 59 can be realized by using a divider or the like, and the necessary data can be set in the control circuit 63.
[0028]
As described above, in the present invention, the arithmetic circuit 50 has a three-stage configuration consisting of the first arithmetic unit 57, the memory unit 58, and the second arithmetic unit 59, so that the number of repeated calculations for the calculation process can be freely set, and real-time calculation process can be realized together with standardization of the calculation results.
[0029]
Next, the operation of the thus configured ultrasound diagnostic apparatus will be described. First, referring to FIG. 4, the inner needle 2 of the needle-shaped ultrasound probe 39 is guided to the desired insertion site while observing a diagnostic region 41 in the subject 16 using the probe 36, ultrasound device 37, and monitor 38. Next, in the inserted needle-shaped ultrasound probe 39, an ultrasound transmission voltage is applied to the upper electrode 11 shown in FIG. 3 to generate ultrasound waves 14 of a predetermined frequency from the piezoelectric element 10. The ultrasound waves 14' are refracted and focused by the lens surface 13 of the acoustic lens material 7 to form a focal point 15. At the same time, a reflected echo from the biological tissue of the subject 16 corresponding to the focal point is guided to the piezoelectric element 10 via the reverse path to generate a received signal. This received signal is then sent to the image processing unit 40 shown in FIG. 4 for signal processing, and an ultrasound image of the insertion site is displayed on the monitor 38.
[0030]
At this time, as shown in Fig. 5, an ultrasonic tomographic image 64 of the diagnostic region 41 inside the subject 16 and an ultrasonic image (needle tip image) 65 of the insertion site of the diagnostic region 41 are simultaneously displayed on the screen of the monitor 38. In this state, while transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves with the probe 36 and the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe 39 in Fig. 4, ultrasonic images at the cellular level of biological tissue can be obtained in real time by operating the drive mechanism 22 shown in Fig. 1 to rotate and translate the inner needle 2 along the imaging region 17 as indicated by arrows B and C as shown in Fig. 2. In this case, the control circuit unit 54 shown in Fig. 6 intermittently rotates the inner needle 2 of the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe 39 about its axis or translates it in its axial direction, and controls the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe 39 to repeatedly transmit and receive ultrasonic waves a predetermined number of times during the stop periods and to perform arithmetic processing of the received signals.
[0031]
Figure 9 is an explanatory diagram of operational timing showing the relationship between the movement operation of the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe 39 by the control circuit unit 54 and the calculation of the transmission and reception of ultrasonic signals. When the inner needle 2 is moved by rotation and translation operation by the drive mechanism 22 shown in Figure 1 at step intervals equal to or smaller than the resolution obtained from the ultrasonic frequency being used, the trajectory of the ultrasonic focus 15 on the imaging region 17 (see Figure 2) is as shown in Figure 9(a). In Figure 9(a), reference numeral 66 indicates the interval when rotating in steps, reference numeral 67 indicates the stopped state after the above-mentioned rotation in steps, and reference numeral 68 indicates the interval when translating in steps after several rotations in steps (66).
[0032]
Furthermore, when the drive mechanism 22 performs stepwise movement, the operation of transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves a predetermined number of times and performing calculations while the drive mechanism 22 is stopped (67) is as shown in Figure 9(b). In the operation timing of Figure 9(b), region a indicates the time of the stepwise rotation (66), region b indicates the time when the drive mechanism 22 is stopped (67) after the stepwise rotation, and reference numeral 69 indicates the timing of transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves and calculating the received signal at intervals c in region b. Furthermore, region d indicates the time when the drive mechanism 22 performs stepwise translation (68) after the stepwise rotation (66). In this case, by performing the transmission and reception of ultrasonic waves and calculating the received signal a predetermined number of times while the drive mechanism 22 is stopped in region b according to the operation timing, a received signal with high signal strength can be efficiently obtained even when the reflectivity is low. Therefore, a signal with a high S/N ratio can be obtained, and a high-quality ultrasound image can be obtained even when the received signal is small.
[0033]
Figure 10 is an explanatory diagram of operational timing showing another example of the relationship between the movement operation of the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe 39 and the calculation of the transmission and reception of ultrasonic signals. In this case, the control circuit unit 54 shown in Figure 6 controls the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe 39 to repeatedly transmit and receive ultrasonic waves and to perform calculation processing on a predetermined number of received signals while continuously rotating the inner needle 2 of the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe 39 about its axis or translating it in its axial direction. When the inner needle 2 is continuously moved by the rotation and translation operation using the drive mechanism 22 shown in Figure 1, the trajectory of the ultrasonic focus 15 on the imaging area 17 (see Figure 2) becomes as shown in Figure 10(a). In Figure 10(a), reference numeral 70 indicates the trajectory of continuous reciprocating movement, for example, in the shape of a sawtooth blade.
[0034]
Furthermore, when the driving mechanism 22 continuously moves, the operation of transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves and performing calculation processing a predetermined number of times in the moving state 70 is as shown in FIG. 10( b). In the operation timing of FIG. 10( b), reference numeral 71 indicates the timing of transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves and calculating the received signals at intervals c. As shown in FIG. 10( c), if the spot diameter at the focal position obtained from the ultrasonic frequency, sound velocity, and F-number of the ultrasonic lens is d, and the operating speed of the driving mechanism 22 is v, as shown in FIG. 10( c), it is sufficient to perform as many transmissions and receptions and calculations of the received signals as possible within the time t = d/v to increase the overlap of the spot diameter d. In this way, by transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves and calculating the received signals a predetermined number of times at the above operation timing, it is possible to efficiently obtain received signals with high signal strength even when the reflectivity is low. Therefore, a signal with a high S/N ratio can be obtained, and a high-quality ultrasound image can be obtained even when the received signal is small.
[0035]
Although not shown, the control circuit unit 54 may control the scanning speed and the calculation density of the ultrasonic reception signal when the inner needle 2 of the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe 39 is rotated about its axis or translated in its axial direction intermittently, or the scanning speed and the calculation density of the ultrasonic reception signal when the inner needle 2 of the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe 39 is rotated about its axis or translated in its axial direction continuously. In this case, the imaging time or resolution can be controlled by selecting the scanning speed and the calculation density of the ultrasonic reception signal according to the density of the sample tissue and the intensity of the reflected signal. That is, when the density of the sample tissue is low, the reflected signal intensity is high, or resolution is not required, the step interval may be increased or the number of calculations may be reduced in Figure 9, or the moving speed may be increased or the timing of transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves and calculating the received signal may be lengthened in Figure 10.
[0036]
In the above, the needle tip image 65 displayed on the screen of the monitor 38 shown in FIG. 5 may be an image 65a of normal tissue at the insertion site and an image 65b of abnormal tissue displayed side by side.
[0037]
[Effects of the Invention]
The needle-shaped ultrasonic probe according to the present invention (see FIG. 1) is configured as described above, and by combining the needle-shaped part having the inner and outer needles for insertion into the body of the probe with the main body incorporating a drive mechanism for rotating the inner needle around its axis or translating it in the axial direction, the needle-shaped part can be easily replaced for each subject. This eliminates the need to thoroughly disinfect and reuse the needle-shaped part as in the past, making it easier to handle and improving safety for the subject.

The ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus (see FIG. 4) of the related invention is configured as described above and includes a probe that is operated by contacting the surface of a subject to transmit and receive ultrasonic waves into the subject and scans to collect tomographic image signals of the diagnostic area, and a needle-shaped ultrasonic probe with a puncture needle-shaped tip and an ultrasonic transducer on its outer surface that is inserted into the subject to transmit and receive ultrasonic waves and scans to collect ultrasonic image signals of biological tissue. The needle-shaped ultrasonic probe of the specific invention is used as the needle-shaped ultrasonic probe, and the apparatus includes a drive means for rotating the inner needle of the needle- shaped ultrasonic probe about its axis or translating it in the axial direction, a calculation means for calculating the collected ultrasonic image signals in synchronization with the drive of the inner needle, and a control means for controlling the operation of the drive means and the calculation means . By transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves and calculating the received signals a predetermined number of times, a received signal with a high signal strength can be efficiently obtained even when the reflectivity is low. Therefore, a signal with a high S/N ratio can be obtained, and a high-quality ultrasonic image can be obtained even when the received signal is low. Furthermore, the display device can simultaneously display an ultrasonic tomographic image of the inside of the subject and an ultrasonic image of the insertion site, allowing the location of the lesion to be identified instantly, which immediately reveals the positional relationship between the diagnostic site inside the subject and the insertion site, enabling accurate and smooth diagnosis and treatment.
