(1) アクリル酸またはその塩を主成分とする親水性単量体水溶液を有機溶剤中に分散・懸濁させて液滴状態としたものを逆相懸濁重合して得られた吸水性樹脂の表面近傍を架橋処理してなる吸水剤であって、
気泡が内在されており、平均粒子径200〜1000μmで、角がなく、多孔質であることを特徴とする吸水剤。
(2) 前記(1)記載の吸水剤と繊維質材料を含み、吸水性樹脂と繊維質材料の総和に対する吸水性樹脂の比率が40重量%以上である吸水性物品。
(3) 親水性単量体水溶液を有機溶剤中に分散・懸濁させて液滴状態としたものを逆相懸濁重合することにより吸水性樹脂を製造する方法において、
前記液滴中に気泡を内在させた状態で逆相懸濁重合を行うことを特徴とする吸水性樹脂の製造方法。
