Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sol contg. particles of anhydrous zinc antimonate dispersed in a high b.p. org. solvent in a state close to that of primary particles without causing flocculation by coating the surfaces of colloidal particles of anhydrous zinc antimonate as nuclei with a silicon-contg. material, dispersing the surface- modified particles in a liq. and incorporating an amine and/or an oxycarboxylic acid. SOLUTION: An aq. sol of anhydrous zinc antimonate and a silicon-contg. material such as a silane coupling agent, a silylating agent, ethyl silicate, methyl silicate or their hydrolyzates are mixed and agitated. The aq. solvent in the resultant aq. sol is substd. by an org. solvent in the presence of an amine and/or an oxycarboxylic acid to obtain the objective organosol of surface-modified anhydrous zinc antimonate. This sol is stable, has high transparency because of good dispersibility and is widely used as a transparent antistatic material, a transparent UV absorbing material, etc.

The organic solvent sol of anhydrous zinc antimonate is used, for example, as a transparent antistatic paint, utilizing the characteristics of its fine particles. In this case, an organic solvent sol of anhydrous zinc antimonate and various resins are mixed to form a coating, but in order to exhibit sufficient performance as a transparent antistatic coating, particles of the anhydrous zinc antimonate sol do not aggregate. Needs to be dispersed in a state close to the primary particles. As a solvent for the resin used in this application, a hydrophobic solvent such as toluene or xylene, or a high-boiling alcohol such as isopropyl alcohol or butyl alcohol is used. Low boiling solvents such as methanol
If it is present in the paint, it may cause whitening of the coating film due to flushing, etc., and therefore, it is usually preferable to use solvent after replacing methanol with the above organic solvent. For this reason, an organic solvent sol of anhydrous zinc antimonate used as a transparent antistatic paint by mixing with various resins uses a hydrophobic solvent such as toluene or xylene or a high boiling alcohol such as isopropyl alcohol or butyl alcohol. Things.

In the first method for producing an organosol according to the present invention, in the step (a), an anhydrous zinc antimonate aqueous sol as a starting material and a silicon-containing substance are mixed and stirred, so that the surface of the anhydrous zinc antimonate particles is It coats a silicon-containing substance or a hydrolyzate thereof. The mixing and stirring are performed at a liquid temperature of 5 to 80 ° C, preferably 20 to 40 ° C, for 1 to 8 hours. It is preferable to use a stirrer such as a disper for stirring. In the step (b), the aqueous solvent in the aqueous sol obtained in the step (a) is replaced with an organic solvent. The organic solvent is toluene, xylene, isopropyl alcohol, butyl alcohol, or the like, and an organosol having high transparency can be obtained by substituting the organic solvent. The solvent replacement is performed by an evaporation method using an evaporator or the like under normal pressure or reduced pressure.
When the starting material aqueous sol does not contain amines or oxycarboxylic acids, alkylamine such as ethylamine, propylamine, isopropylamine and diisobutylamine, triethanolamine, It is preferable to stabilize by adding an alkanolamine such as monoethanolamine, a diamine such as ethylenediamine, and / or an oxycarboxylic acid such as lactic acid, tartaric acid, malic acid, and citric acid. The amine or oxycarboxylic acid can be used alone, oxycarboxylic acid alone, or both amine and oxycarboxylic acid. When converting an aqueous sol into an organosol using these solvents, first, the aqueous sol is converted into the above-mentioned organosol through a methanol sol, whereby the surface-coated anhydrous zinc antimonate colloid particles are dispersed in a state close to primary particles without aggregation. Due to the dispersion in the medium, the transparency of the resulting organosol becomes even higher.
