【従来の技術】
従来の携帯型コンピュータとしては、例えば「特開平６−１９７１７８号」公報に開示されたものがある。この公報において、携帯型コンピュータは、電話機能等を含んでおり、携帯型コミュニケータと呼ばれている。図７は、この従来の携帯型コンピュータの構成を示すブロック図である。
図７において、携帯型コンピュータは、ＣＰＵ２３、ＲＯＭ２５、ＲＡＭ２７、入力インターフェース３３、電源コントローラ８１、電話コントローラ４１、無線電話ユニット８９や電話出力コントローラ６７などから構成され、内蔵アプリケーションコネクタ７４にワードプロセッサ、データベース等のアプリケーションソフトウェアＲＯＭ９４を接続する。
上記のような構成を有する携帯型コンピュータは、データを印刷出力することや、ＧＰＳ（Ｇｌｏｂａｌ Ｐｏｓｉｔｉｏｎｉｎｇ Ｓｙｓｔｅｍ）による測位結果をディスプレイに表示させることなどを特徴とし、これによって、当該携帯型コンピュータのユーザが、外出先において、書類の印字や通帳の記帳する機能を実現したり、当該ユーザが現在位置する場所の周辺地図を表示する機能や目的地まで道案内する機能を実現したりしていた。
また、上記の携帯型コンピュータは、ペン入力コントローラユニット３１をさらに備えている。そのため、ユーザは、ペンを介して、様々なアプリケーションを操作することが可能となり、これによって、携帯型コンピュータの操作性を向上させている。[0002]
2. Description of the Related Art
A conventional portable computer is disclosed, for example, in Japanese Patent Laid-Open Publication No. 6-197178. In this publication, the portable computer includes telephone functions and is called a portable communicator. Portable computers with the above configuration are characterized by the ability to print out data and display positioning results obtained by GPS (Global Positioning System) on a display screen, thereby enabling users of the portable computers to print documents and record entries in their bankbooks while on the go, as well as to display a map of the area around the user's current location and provide directions to their destination.
The portable computer further includes a pen input controller unit 31. This allows the user to operate various applications via the pen, thereby improving the operability of the portable computer.
