Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition which shows highly fastness against light and excellent buildup by using a mixture of a nitro-based yellow dispersed dye and a quinophthalone-based yellow dispersed dye as a major component. SOLUTION: A dye composition of the present invention comprises a nitro- based yellow dispersed dye represented by formula I and a quinophthalone-based yellow dispersed dye represented by formula II, the mixing ratio of the dye of formula I to the dye of formula II being 95-40 wt.%/5-60 wt.%. To the composition is added a dispersing agent such as a formalin condensed compound of a naphthalenesulfonate, a ligninsulfonate and the like and the mixture is made into a fine particle in water by means of a sand mill or the like to prepare a liquid dye composition or the mixture is spray-dryed to prepare a powder dye composition. A polyester fiber or a mixed fiber thereof is dyed by adding a pH adjusting agent, a uniformly dispersion-dyeing agent, an ultraviolet absorber to a dyeing bath in which the dye composition is dispersed and applying a high temperature dyeing, a carrier dyeing, a thermosol dyeing or the like.

2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, polyester fibers have been widely used as materials for automobile interiors, especially for seats. However, in the case of an automobile sheet, the yellow color changes and discolors due to exposure to high temperature for a long time, which also causes discoloration of a mixed dyed product of red and blue. As a countermeasure against this, a high light-fast yellow disperse dye is disclosed in JP-A-6-345989 and JP-A-6-16 / 16.
No. 6828, for example.

The dyes of the formulas (I) and (II) are
The dye alone is excellent in build-up property and relatively strong in light fastness. However, in the accelerated test method using a xenon arc lamp (Toyota method) as an evaluation method of light fastness, the above formula (I) is used.
Changes to reddish, and the formula (II) tends to fade.
In terms of color value, the dye of the formula (I) has a low color value and is about 1/5 of the formula (II), and is economically disadvantageous. Therefore, by mixing and using the dyes of the formulas (I) and (II), not only the disadvantages of both are complemented, but also there is almost no discoloration after irradiation with a xenon arc lamp, and it has excellent light fastness and build-up. It has been found that a good and economical dye composition can be obtained, and the present invention has been completed.

In order to dye polyester fibers, the pH of the composition of the present invention is dispersed in an aqueous medium, and if necessary, pH adjustment and a leveling agent are added thereto. Polyester fibers or their blends can be dyed by a dyeing method such as a carrier dyeing method or a thermosol dyeing method. Further, a dyed article having more excellent light resistance can be obtained by using an ultraviolet absorber. The use amount of such an ultraviolet absorber is not particularly limited, but is preferably 0.5 to 5% based on the weight of the material to be dyed.
