1439087 Spring applied fluid pressure released brake actuators SVENSKA AG BROMSREGULATOR 21 Oct 1974 [25 Oct 1973] 45426/74 Heading F2F A spring applied fluid pressure released brake actuator has mechanism, for transmitting force from the actuator piston 3 to a push rod 7 for applying the brake, which comprises a nut 9 in non-self-locking engagement with screwthreads provided on the push rod 7, a clutch 12 which is between nut 9 and piston 3 and is spring-urged to an engaged position in which it prevents rotation of the nut on the push rod when the actuator is in its normal operative condition, the clutch 12 being disengageable by externally accessible means for allowing the nut to rotate on the push rod so that the latter can move rearwards to release the brake whilst the piston 3 remains in its forward position in the absence of fluid under pressure.
