Abstract
A higher secondary alcohol ethoxysulfate, an aqueous solution of a caustic alkali and ethanol are fed continuously or batch-wise into a neutralization vessel to neutralize the higher secondary alcohol ethoxysulfate so that the three components ethanol (X), water (Y) and the resulting neutralized higher secondary alcohol ethoxysulfate (Z) fall within the range surrounded with the lines connecting the following six points with each other on a triangular coordinate plot, whereby a highly concentrated solution of the neutralized higher secondary alcohol ethoxysulfate is obtained: }(A) X = 10%, Y = 25%, Z = 65% }(B) X = 5%, Y = 25%, Z = 70% }(C) X = 3%, Y = 22%, Z = 75% }(D) X = 4%, Y = 18%, Z = 78% }(E) X = 6%, Y = 14%, Z = 80% }(F) X = 10%, Y = 10%, Z = 80%, } the percentages being % by weight. The solution thus prepared is also disclosed in detail.
