Abstract

1485269 Pharmaceutical compositions containing acetic acid derivatives LABAZ 12 June 1975 [26 June 1974] 28416/74 Heading ASB [Also in Division C2] Pharmaceutical or veterinary compositions, usable in treating non-human subjects with central neurological disorders, comprise as an active ingredient an acetic acid derivative of formula: where R represents where R, and R 2 may be the same or different and each represent an alkyl group with 1-4 carbon atoms, n is an integer from 1-3 inclusive and R 3 and R 4 , which are identical, each represent a straight chain alkyl radical with 1-4 carbon atoms, in association with a carrier or excipient other than Ordinary tap water or a common organic solvent. Preferred active ingredients are 3-n-propyl hexanoic acid; 4-n-propyl-heptanoic acid, 3-n-butyl heptanoic acid, 3-Methyl-butanoic acid, 3-ethyl-pentanoic acid and 5-n-propyl octanoic acid. The composition is preferably in a unit dosage form for rectal or oral administration.
