Abstract
1526810 Flotation apparatus SAINT-GOBAIN TECHNIQUES NOUVELLES 29 Dec 1975 [31 Dec 1974] 52991/75 Heading C1C Apparatus for separating suspended solid material from a liquid by flotation comprises a flotation vessel in which floated solid matter can form a layer at the upper surface of the liquid, the vessel being provided with a support element of a thickness which is sufficiently small to enable the support to rest on the surface of the layer, the support element extending over substantially the whole upper surface of the liquid having a large number of orifices through which the floated material may pass and at least one raking device arranged to traverse the upper surface of the element to shear and remove the material which has passed through the orifices. The element may be a perforated plate or fine-mesh grid, and may be undulating. The separation exemplified is of water containing flocculated aluminium hydroxide obtained from aluminium sulphate.
