PURPOSE:To provide a welding method for optical fiber, in which connecting end portions of each of optical fiber cores are placed face to face with each other, and said end portions are fused through application of heat, whereby coupling of optical fibers can be effected with ease, and re-coating required after coupling can be simplified.
