Abstract

PURPOSE:To rapidly cool molten slag discharged from a metallurgical furnace such as a blast furnace with a relatively small amt. of water in an effective manner and thus make it possible to produce uniform granulated slag of good quality suitable for building aggregate or the like, by branching a stream of the molten slag and contacting the branched stream with water.
