Abstract
PURPOSE: To separate extracted soln. completely from residue and to decrease bacteria contained in the extracted soln., by, in extraction of blue dye through treatment of spilurina with a solvent, passing a suspension contg. the spilurina alga residue in series through a desludge type centrifuge and a Sharples centrifuge.
CONSTITUTION: A suspension contg. spilurina alga residue obtained by suspending the spilurina into an extraction solvent is poured downward into the vessel 2 of a desludge type centrifuge along a shaft of umbrella type separating boards 1 of truncated cone shape which is revolving in the vessel 2 at high speed. Becuase of difference in centrifugal forces, the solid portion moved toward the vessel wall, and the clarified soln. toward the central part of the vessel through between the separating boards 1. The clarified soln. is then fed to the base of a vertical cylinder 4 which is revolving at high speed in a Sharples centrifuge 3 connected in series to the desludge type centrifuge. The solid portion is deposited on the cylinder wall, and the clarified soln. is drawn off continuously from the top of the revolving cylinder.
