Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the flickering of a display screen by addressing to a display memory by dividing a display time for one character into two access times by addressing from an external device and display character counter part respectively.
CONSTITUTION: By being supplied with a reference clock from reference oscillator 6, character display counter part 10 generates horizontal and vertical synchronizing signals from terminals 11 and 12 to drive character display unit 5 and also to supply a signal dissolving a picture element to address character generator 8 of display memory 15 as well. Then, read and write signals from central processor 2 are supplied to display memory 15 and character codes outputted from it are inputted to character generator 18, whose picture-element signal output is transmitted to character display unit 5. Multiplexer 22, on the other hand, makes switching between a display character address from character display counter part 10 and that from display character address register 13 and supplies it to memory 15. Therefore, timing when access to the both is made at the same time is eliminated, so that the flickering of the screen will not occur.
